Chapter 37
The day before the conference. You finished revising the final slide “in three lines.” I made “prepare my words and return alive” my task for the day.
In the early afternoon, a summons from the palace. A brief adjustment. There was a proposal for extending the presentation time for tomorrow’s talk to the meeting attendees. “To allow enough time for questions.” I almost raised my hand. (—Wait. Wouldn’t that be getting ahead of things?) I touched the star 🟊 in my chest pocket.
If it’s about getting ahead as material, I can take it home.
“Please allow me to secure options as material for consultation. The decision will be made after speaking with the person involved.”
“Good judgment, Evans,”
The atmosphere in the conference room lightened a little.
On the way back to the mansion, I stopped in front of a flower shop. Just one white small flower. Not a large bouquet, but an amount suitable for daily life.
