Chapter 7: Who Says This Beast World Is Bad? This Beast World Is Amazing.
All around, the two little cubs were making a series of overlapping “YUE” noises. Luoluo looked at the meat in her hands and felt she owed them an explanation.
“This meat is fine, I just can’t get used to it.”
Ziye poked and prodded for a long while, but the two cubs had finally gotten a taste of something delicious in their stomachs, and they stubbornly refused to spit it out.
He became anxious. “The meat is fine! Why won’t you eat it?”
Luoluo explained again, “I just can’t eat raw meat.”
Ziye drew his bone knife threateningly. “Whether you like it or not, you’re eating this meat today.”
They had all eaten, and if Luoluo didn’t eat, how could he feel at ease? Even if it meant dying, he would take her with him.
“Uh…” Luoluo stared at the raw meat, feeling conflicted.
At that moment, Chi Yao walked over carrying a pile of firewood and saw the scene.
Ziye had a knife pressed to Luoluo’s throat, his eyes fierce, issuing threats as he spoke.
“What are you doing? Dare to be rude to the Mistress? I’ll crush you if you do!”
Chi Yao stepped forward in a flash, placing himself between Luoluo and Ziye.
Looking at Ziye with displeasure, he said, “If you hate the Mistress so much, why are you still here? Why not just leave?”
Ziye was momentarily speechless, thinking for a long while before replying, “I… I’m just thick-skinned. What’s wrong with that? Mind your own business, you smelly ox.”
Chi Yao shrugged. “I may be a smelly ox, but you’re a smelly rat. Who’s more noble?”
In his mind, all males were inferior, all could be described as “smelly.” Only the noble Mistress was highborn and fragrant like a soft, delicate cat.
At that moment, the system’s voice sounded:
[Host, I just remembered something—I forgot to give you the beginner’s gift pack.]
Trying to cover its negligence, it spoke in a flattering tone:
[Congratulations, Host, you have received: one flint, one jin of salt, and one iron pot.]
[Ahem, if the Host has no other business, Xiaobai will take its leave.]
The system disappeared immediately, ignoring Luoluo’s calls.
Luoluo’s stomach growled; she was too hungry to bother with this negligent system.
She used her large bundle to hide herself as she reached for something.
“What are you doing?” Ziye’s eyes followed her hand warily.
Blinking innocently, Luoluo said, “Nothing. You told me to eat meat, right? I’m just going to eat it now.”
She took out the items one by one: a big slab of meat, which she quickly cut into small pieces with the bone knife.
Looking at the knife in her hands, she thought, The things Mom gave me really are useful!
She placed the meat in the iron pot, rubbed it with salt, and mixed it around.
Then she gathered some dry grass and rubbed the flint a few times, sparking a fire almost instantly.
“Chi Yao, bring over some dry branches,” she called twice, then suddenly realized the area beside her was empty.
“Huh? Ziye? Chi Yao? Where did you guys go?”
She called several more times, but there was no answer.
Fine, forget them for now. Better to fill my stomach first.
No matter what, she would never shortchange her own stomach.
She picked up scattered dry branches and placed them on the fire. Soon, flames roared, making the meat sizzle and filling the forest with the rich aroma of roasting meat.
Suddenly, a small head popped out of the dirt pit—A Jin. “What’s that? Smells so good!”
Then A Cang’s head appeared, and finally, Ziye emerged, frowning.
He protected the two cubs behind him, eyes cautious. “Y-you… how did you get holy fire?”
Chi Yao ran out from behind a tree, curious about the golden flame, feeling its warmth and moving closer.
Fire was sacred to the beastmen. Holy fire could illuminate the night but could also destroy the forest. Extremely dangerous.
Normally, it burned only on the central tribe’s high platform, guarded by appointed beastmen to prevent it from being extinguished or stolen.
Without holy fire, the tribe would lose the protection of the god of light and be vulnerable to attacks from other tribes.
Ziye had never seen anyone conjure holy fire by hand, and curiosity drove him a step closer.
“Did you steal the holy fire?” he asked, then shook his head. No… that’s impossible.
They had left together, and holy fire burns everything—there’s no way she could hide it.
Ziye fell into deep thought. Could she… be a witch?
Startled by his own thought, he realized it was the only explanation that made sense.
Luoluo laughed at the three popping out of the dirt. Indeed, mice were naturally fast at digging holes.
Chi Yao even ran two or three kilometers away with one leap.
Facing Ziye’s questioning, Luoluo held up the flint. “I didn’t steal the holy fire. I just happen to know how to make fire.”
She demonstrated again, passing the small flame to Ziye. “Here, play with it if you like.”
Ziye: “….”
What did she mean by this? Treating him like a cub? Holy fire is not a toy!
Seeing her father stand still, A Jin touched the small flame cautiously with his hand—it was hot.
He blew on it with his tiny mouth, extinguishing it quickly, sending up a wisp of black smoke.
“A Jin, don’t play around. It’s dangerous.”
Before Ziye could stop him, the flame was out, and he breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
“Give it to me, I want to play!”
Chi Yao grabbed a burning stick, curiously inspecting it and even reaching out to touch it.
“Ah… it’s so hot!”
Luoluo patted the back of his hand. “Don’t play with fire. Be careful.”
This dark-skinned sporty kid seemed fine in every way… except not too bright.
The meat was cooked. Luoluo found some small branches, broke them into shorter pieces, and used two as chopsticks.
She picked up a piece of meat and swallowed it in one bite.
“Ahhh…” she tilted her head back, fanning her mouth with her hands.
Ziye sneered. “See? I told you the meat was suspicious.”
He and the cubs had already eaten several pieces. Although Luoluo had roasted the meat, it was still the same meat.
She had done countless misdeeds—she deserved to die. Whether she lived or died, it was fine.
Only the two cubs were pitiful, too young to meet their end.
Ziye knelt down, choking on his words. “Father is sorry to you…”
Before he could finish, Luoluo exclaimed, “Hot! Hot! It’s so hot!”
She picked up another piece, blew on it vigorously, then chewed it. Her eyebrows immediately curved beautifully.
“Delicious… really delicious.”
Beast-world meat was pure, untouched by technology or experiments. Even with just salt, it was better than anything she had eaten before.
She thought to herself, What kind of hard life was I living before?
Who says this beast world is bad? This beast world is amazing.
At least here, you can eat meat freely without worrying about GMOs or synthetic meat.
A Jin stood nearby, drooling uncontrollably.
“Want some?” Luoluo held a piece of meat to his mouth.
A Jin glanced at Ziye, who shook his head frantically.
Coming back to his senses, he shook his head again.
The next moment, the delicious meat was shoved into his mouth.
His mouth chewed uncontrollably. His eyes lit up. “Delicious! I want more!”
Luoluo handed him a pair of chopsticks. “If you want more, pick it yourself.”
Ziye still wanted to stop him, but Luoluo teased, “Worried I’ll poison you? Maybe I should eat more and die first?”
While Ziye stared in disbelief, Chi Yao suddenly burst into tears, large drops rolling down his cheeks.
Luoluo was puzzled. “What… what’s wrong with you?”
She hadn’t even hit him today, so why was he crying?
Could it be… he was crying because he wasn’t hit???
Impossible… is he a masochist??
