Chapter 14
Since the last meal, Lia had truly started to worry about Cartian.
No matter how hard she tried not to, she kept thinking about him.
The expression on Cartian’s face back then had clearly been one of deep hurt.
Even before, whenever stories about the past—before he lost his memory—came up, he had shown similar reactions. But never as strongly as that day.
She told herself it had nothing to do with her. She was going to leave anyway. So she thought it would be better if he got hurt and put distance between them.
And yet—why did she keep thinking about him?
This was not what she wanted.
After the Emperor left his seat that day, he did not appear again.
She wondered if he might come to see her today like before, but he did not come.
Not once.
It had already been three days.
She thought it was a good thing. Honestly, his visits had been nothing but bothersome.
But when he did not come to see her for three whole days, she started to feel guilty.
Had he been hurt that badly?
Had she really wounded him so deeply?
His hurt expression kept lingering in her mind.
Still, she had no desire to go see him first.
She did not think it was necessary, and she did not know what she would even say if she went.
What she had said was simply the truth.
She did not want to form pointless emotional attachments.
No matter how long she stayed here, it would only be temporary.
This could not last forever.
Whether she was dethroned and forced to leave, or returned to her original world.
Whether he regained his memories or not—it would happen eventually.
“This is really annoying.”
This kind of emotional flow was truly not good.
“Is his heart really his true heart?”
Even if he had lost his memory, such a drastic change in attitude was hard to believe.
It was not something that could happen just because someone lost their memories.
Then—could it be someone’s manipulation, just like how she herself had possessed this body?
Had his emotions changed as if something had briefly been placed over him?
Even so, it could not explain everything.
Just like how her possession of this body could not be explained by anything at all.
