Su Li froze for a moment, then heard Madam Mo continue:
“You two are husband and wife. You can’t keep living separately.”
“I originally wanted you to move back to the old house, but I thought young people don’t like living with old folks, so I gave up on that idea.”
“You know my wish, and you understand my difficulty. I hope you can get pregnant with Xingyuan’s child as soon as possible.”
Madam Mo finally said the main point.
Of course Su Li understood — she had agreed to this at the beginning.
“Auntie, I want to too, but Mo Xingyuan…” Su Li stopped mid-sentence. She believed Madam Mo understood what she meant.
Madam Mo said, “Don’t worry about him. The process is not important. Only the result matters.”
Su Li felt how strongly Madam Mo wished for a child. It seemed that Mo Xingyuan really didn’t have much time left.
Even if she was willing to have a child, Mo Xingyuan also had to agree to let her get pregnant.
And he was even more unwilling than she was.
“No more discussion. You will move into his place today.” Madam Mo made the final decision. “This matter is settled.”
Su Li refused inside.
Living with Mo Xingyuan… wouldn’t that be a war zone every day?

“You don’t need to worry about him.” Madam Mo spoke gently but firmly. “I’ll talk to him. No matter what, you are his wife. How can a married couple not live together?”

Mo Xingyuan leaned against the dining table, a cigarette between his lips. He played lightly with a metal lighter in his hand. His dark eyes were deep and sharp as they stared at Su Li.
Under his gaze, Su Li wanted to curl up her toes into the floor.
“Pretty capable,” Mo Xingyuan said as he lit his cigarette and took a slow drag. He glanced sideways at her. “Using my mother as leverage. Smart.”
Hearing the mocking tone, Su Li couldn’t explain herself at all.
In his eyes, she was just a woman trying to climb up, wanting to get pregnant with his child and live a rich wife’s life.
Su Li pulled the corner of her mouth. “If you don’t like it, I can leave.”
“No need.” Mo Xingyuan held the cigarette between his fingers. Smoke drifted across his face lightly. “No matter how hard I try to chase you out, it won’t work. If you’re living here, you follow my rules.”
Su Li wanted to say: That’s really unnecessary.
“You speak.”
“Before ten at night, you must be home. I don’t like hearing any noise in the middle of the night.”
Su Li frowned. A curfew?
But her life was simple. She had few friends, no social events, no dates. It wouldn’t be difficult.
“Okay.” Su Li asked, “Anything else?”
Mo Xingyuan raised his eyelids, his gaze calm. “In this house, you do what a wife should do.”
Su Li suddenly thought of something. She smiled and asked, “Does that include having a child?”
Mo Xingyuan’s hand shook slightly, and the ash fell off the cigarette.
Seeing his reaction, Su Li smiled.
“Don’t even dream about it!” Mo Xingyuan crushed the cigarette out.
Su Li’s smile deepened. “Mm, I’m dreaming.”
Mo Xingyuan frowned.
Su Li stopped smiling and said, “Then I’ll stay here.”
“Put away your fake act.” Mo Xingyuan said bluntly, “Your pretend admiration is disgusting.”

Su Li struggled for a second. “Why can’t it be real admiration?”
