The night grew darker.
Mo Xingyuan walked into the police station and saw Su Li sitting on a chair. Her hair was tied up high. Even though her face showed tiredness, she sat very straight.
Sitting there alone, she looked like an abandoned stray cat with nowhere to go.
When Su Li heard someone coming, her dim eyes brightened a little. When she saw clearly who it was, she looked surprised.
She had called Chi Mu and asked him to come to the police station.
If Lu Jing hadn’t been on a business trip, she would never have bothered Chi Mu.
She didn’t expect that the person who came wasn’t Chi Mu — it was Mo Xingyuan.
Seeing Mo Xingyuan, she felt a bit uncomfortable.
They had only known each other for a short time, yet he had already seen so many embarrassing moments of hers. It was a little shameful.
Mo Xingyuan went into the office to handle the paperwork. When he came out, he glanced at Su Li. “Let’s go.”
His cold voice carried no emotion, just like their relationship.
Su Li stood up and followed behind him, holding his coat in her arms.
When she hit someone earlier, the bag she used broke.
As they walked out of the police station and were just about to get into the car, He Shuming came running out.
“Hey, are you Su Li’s man?”
Su Li frowned tightly. She really felt humiliated.
Mo Xingyuan turned his head, his gaze sharp and cold as he stared at He Shuming.
Su Li’s head hurt.
He Shuming really had something wrong with him. He was like a crazy dog that refused to let go.
“What is it?” Mo Xingyuan asked calmly.
He Shuming didn’t know who Mo Xingyuan was, but from his appearance and clothes, he could tell the man wasn’t ordinary.
“Heh, Su Li, this is your taste? You couldn’t find anyone better, so you picked a delicate little pretty boy?” He Shuming mocked loudly.
Indeed, Mo Xingyuan looked handsome and fair-skinned — beautiful, even.
“You still want to get beaten up again?” Su Li absolutely hated He Shuming right now.
He Shuming sneered, looking at Mo Xingyuan with disrespect, eyeing him up and down. “Marrying this kind of guy, what were you thinking? Does he even have strength?”
Such vulgar, disgusting words.
Su Li raised her hand, ready to hit him again.
Mo Xingyuan grabbed her hand, his eyes calm like still water. “Go home.”
Su Li couldn’t believe Mo Xingyuan wasn’t angry at all.
She couldn’t swallow this anger herself.
“Su Li, look at the coward you chose!” He Shuming shouted.
Seeing Mo Xingyuan remain calm only made He Shuming more arrogant. He continued insulting, “He looks good on the outside but useless inside. What did you marry him for? To look pretty in photos?”
Su Li wanted to shout back, but Mo Xingyuan pushed her into the passenger seat. His gaze was cold. “Arguing with words is the most useless thing.”
Su Li clenched her teeth, and under his stare, she finally swallowed all the curses she wanted to say.
Mo Xingyuan closed the car door. Since He Shuming got no reaction, he grew even angrier.
“Coward! Even a woman has more temper than you!”
Mo Xingyuan walked to the driver’s seat and opened the door. Through the roof of the car, he looked calmly at He Shuming’s aggressive face. His gaze turned dark.
He spoke lightly, “You talk more than most women.”
Before He Shuming could react, Mo Xingyuan had already driven away.
Su Li looked at the rearview mirror and saw He Shuming angrily kicking a tree.
The night was deep. Outside, the city was bright and lively, but inside the car, the silence felt heavy.
Su Li wanted to say something, but when she glanced at Mo Xingyuan’s expressionless face, she couldn’t open her mouth.
If he didn’t talk, she didn’t dare talk either — afraid he would be annoyed.
After all, she was the one who caused him trouble.
While waiting at a red light, Mo Xingyuan made a call.
“Handle it.”
Su Li only heard those four words. She assumed he was talking about work.
The car stopped outside her apartment complex. Su Li unbuckled her seatbelt and looked at the coat in her hands. “I’ll return the coat to you later.”
She had held the coat all afternoon. It was completely wrinkled and not clean anymore.
Mo Xingyuan finally turned his head and looked at her. “Your taste is pretty bad.”
