Chapter 32
Pregnancy
After that, the moment Sena entered Mia’s room, she collapsed into tears.
“Wait, what? What happened?”
“I’m sorry… I said I was someone connected to you,” Sena confessed.
Her best friend, holding the sobbing Sena, asked straightforwardly what had occurred.
Sena, between sobs, apologized for betraying Mia’s kindness.
“What do you mean? You told him your family name?”
“No, not that. I only gave him my name… I didn’t mention my family. But as the conversation with him flowed… things just…”
“Things… How much did you tell him?”
At that question, Sena lowered her gaze and murmured.
“I… I gave him your history as if I had to completely become you! I’m so sorry.”
“Well… hmm. If you just said you were someone connected to me, then if he tried to look for you, of course, he would first come to me, right?”
Weakly, Sena nodded.
Seeing that, Mia replied, “I don’t know why, but I feel better since I woke up.”
Her friend looked puzzled, not understanding, so Mia explained, “I plan to return to the empire.”
Pointing toward the dressing room, she declared, “I’ll pack my things and leave this dangerous place quickly.”
“I didn’t meet anyone, and as soon as I arrived at this hotel, I felt unwell and had to lie down. That’s all, right?”
“…I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to betray you.”
“I don’t think of it as betrayal. Just being able to see you again, safe and well, after I heard you went missing… that alone made this trip worthwhile.”
“And while I’m here, no one else…”
“Of course,” Mia nodded sincerely.
There was no malice, no hidden intent—nothing of the sort.
Sena felt as if the burden she had carried in her heart had lifted just a little.
After the dream world ended, while working as a cleaner in other suites, Mia apparently arranged for staff through the guest attendant.
She packed her things quickly and left.
When Sena checked later, the room’s guests were already gone.
A little over two weeks passed since then.
During that time, Sena was subjected to daily new acts of bullying.
There was no physical violence, but the verbal attacks crushed her heart. Still, the overwhelming, indescribable sadness she once felt came less frequently.
Those two tormentors would soon disappear as well.
As the bartender Roasso had quietly revealed that night, the hotel’s upper management had been addressing not only Sena’s situation but also the unfair treatment of immigrants who had arrived in the kingdom.
Immediate improvements were demanded.
The general manager, Alex, was a noble, but he understood that discrimination, as a business matter, could seriously harm the hotel’s operations.
Due to various circumstances, the two who had bullied Sena were either fired or transferred to other departments, receiving severe punishment.
Roasso tilted his head, saying, “I feel like some other big problem is happening,” but for Sena, the reason was clear.
That night.
The miraculous night and the reality of having run from him… it was troubling the hotel.
Sharing half of that burden, Sena spent the two weeks plagued by constant nausea and fatigue, praying to the goddess for a miracle.
Her taste perception became distorted, and her emotions fluctuated far more intensely than usual, confusing those around her.
Strangely, the goddess’s miracle—capable of even resurrecting the dead—did nothing to release her from this suffering.
The day of womanly pain was much later than expected.
Sena realized the cause of these endless, night-and-day, nightmare-like days lay in the other world.
“…I’m pregnant.”
After releasing the nausea she felt at the sink, she used a magical pregnancy test to confirm her suspicions.
There was no doubt.
She was carrying his child.
When doubt turned to certainty through the test, a new, indescribable terror struck Sena.
The guilt of betraying him also tormented her.
The ballroom, the exhilarating wine, his virility…
All of it had driven her reason to madness.
Following her instincts, she had surrendered her body, and now this was the result.
Even recalling all of it, the guilt didn’t fade.
She should have left the venue immediately when Robert invited her.
But if she had… she would not have had that wonderful night with him.
For some reason, that seemed too precious to waste.
Even now, she wanted to chase him, to throw herself into his strong back.
If she could, she wanted to confess everything she had hidden and ask for forgiveness.
She wanted to apologize and be freed from these feelings.
But if she did, she would lose her job.
After all she had done…
He probably resented her and would certainly despise her.
And now, there was the matter of her pregnancy…
Who could she tell? Who could she ask for help?
During her night shift, the nausea returned.
It had been ongoing for some time, so Roasso, concerned, had taken notice.
“If you feel unwell, you can rest. This happens to anyone,” he said kindly.
“Roasso…”
Sena didn’t know what to do.
His gentle words made her want to cling to him.
