Story 130
Gratitude
One day, as I was walking through the city, someone approached me from the front and said,
“Thank you very much for yesterday.”
They bowed their head to me. I replied, “Ah, no, it’s nothing.”
After a while, another person came up to me and said,
“Thank you so much for yesterday. I will never forget this favor for the rest of my life.”
I waved my hand and said, “No, no,” and we parted ways.
Then, after some more time, yet another person expressed their gratitude to me. I said, “It’s nothing at all.”
On my way home, I encountered several more people offering the same thanks. Yet, I couldn’t help but feel it was strange.
I had no memory of having gone outside at all the previous day.
