The Youngest Son of the Luoyang Jin Family
Chapter 37 —
It felt like I was walking on clouds—everything was hazy. But slowly, my senses began to return. I started to feel the presence of people nearby.
I slowly opened my eyes.
At that moment, I saw the familiar training ground.
The rain had stopped, and unlike before, the sky was clear with warm sunlight pouring down. It felt like a lot of time had passed.
When I first came here, it was early morning, but now the sun was already high in the sky.
I turned my head, thinking maybe a couple of hours had passed—and there I saw Ak Guchun standing as if guarding me.
He wasn’t alone.
Jang Chuhyung and Chae Soha were also there.
They looked at me with worried expressions. When I blinked and looked at them, smiles finally appeared on their faces.
“Hehehe, you’re awake?”
“…What are you doing?”
“You weren’t waking up, so I stayed to watch you.”
“I didn’t wake up…?”
That felt strange. I looked at Chae Soha for confirmation.
She let out a relieved sigh and nodded.
“You practiced with your sword for two days straight, and then you just sat there for another two days.”
“I sat here like this?”
“Yes. Are you okay?”
I nodded in response.
I remembered getting so immersed in sword training that I lost track of time. I had been creating and erasing sword paths over and over, and it looks like two days passed like that.
Then I sat in meditation to hold on to the realization I gained.
But I didn’t expect it would take four days.
It made sense that people were worried and stayed by my side.
“Sorry for causing trouble.”
“Hahaha! You’re crazy, you know that? You tried to ‘contain nature’ twice now! Are you sane?”
“I already did it once before. Doing it a second time wasn’t that hard.”
I thought back to the past.
Back when I tried to create a ‘raging current’ with my sword. That took even longer. I didn’t know how to capture the flow and movement in my sword, so I kept trying for years.
Having that foundation is what made this time possible.
“What are you doing? Get up.”
“Huh?”
“If you’ve gained something, you should try using it. I’ll go easy—come at me.”
Ak Guchun, who was standing on the side of the training field, waved his hand, telling me to attack.
Even Chae Soha and Jang Chuhyung looked nervous and stepped back.
Now it was just me and Ak Guchun facing each other.
“You can do it, Young Master! Don’t worry, you won’t die!”
“P-Please be careful!”
Their voices made me frown. Especially Jang Chuhyung—he looked way too happy that it was my turn to get beaten up for once.
Sigh.
I looked at Ak Guchun.
He was serious. He wasn’t going to back down.
I had no choice but to get up.
“My sword is still incomplete…”
“Doesn’t matter. You said it contains nature—that’s good enough. Now show me.”
He grinned like a kid excited for a new toy.
He looked full of curiosity about what I might do.
I slowly raised my sword and steadied my breathing.
The river—Gang (江).
I would try again to capture its great flow in my sword.
I took my stance, preparing my energy.
Ak Guchun’s eyes told me to hurry up.
Hoo—
I breathed deeply and focused on everything I had learned.
“Here I come.”
“Come on!”
I dashed forward, closing the distance between us instantly.
Like a river that lures you in, I captured that feeling in my sword and swung.
Clang! Clang clang!
Ak Guchun’s eyes widened as he blocked.
This wasn’t like my usual fierce attacks. My sword flowed gently, naturally, pulling him in like water drawing something into its depths.
He could feel it too.
“Wahaha! What is this?!”
But he just laughed joyfully as he blocked with ease.
It seemed he was wondering how to break through something like this.
Then, his fist moved swiftly.
As if building a dam to stop the river, he swung at my sword. I could feel the flow of water stop for a moment—but that wasn’t enough.
Even a small hole in a dam is enough for water to break through.
My sword shifted.
A raging torrent.
The force crashed against Ak Guchun’s block. Water burst through the gap.
That one small crack changed everything.
The dam collapsed in an instant.
“Oh?”
Ak Guchun sounded surprised.
Then he counterattacked.
His energy surged, cutting straight through the flow of water I had created.
I quickly stepped back.
Whooosh!
A windstorm swept through the spot his energy passed. The ground shattered, and debris flew everywhere.
Boom boom!
It hit the walls and sent chunks flying. It was scary enough to make cold sweat drip down my back.
“Don’t tell me that’s all you’ve got?!”
Ak Guchun suddenly jumped at me. In midair, he pulled his fist back and punched.
CRAAASH!
The same punch that once blew up a whole storage building.
I stared right at it.
Vrrrrrrr—!
The pressure from the blow felt like it could crush me.
Even though he said he’d go easy, this wasn’t something I could block easily. If I wasn’t careful, I’d break bones—or worse.
I poured the noble flow of water into my sword again.
I let his attack ride the current.
KA-BOOOOM!
With an earth-shaking crash, half the training ground blew away.
Wind and debris raged everywhere.
“KYAA—!”
“AAAH—!”
I could hear Chae Soha and Jang Chuhyung screaming.
No time to worry about others.
I swung again.
Clang! Clang clang!
There’s strength in flowing water.
I kept using that in my sword to slowly push Ak Guchun back.
“Hahaha! This is fun! You’re amazing!”
Ak Guchun laughed as he punched again.
His fist clashed with the water flow.
Splash!
The shockwaves spread like ripples.
Of course, Ak Guchun felt it too. His smile widened even more.
He was feeling something unbelievable.
“Grr! I really should’ve made you my disciple! What do you say? Be my student now. I’ll hand down the Beast Palace to you!”
“Isn’t there no such palace?”
“You’ve got money. Just build one. It’s pocket change for you.”
“That’s some expensive pocket change.”
“WAHAHAHA!”
Clang! Boom! Clang clang clang! Whack!
Our fight continued.
I was clearly being pushed back, but I was holding on.
We exchanged over fifty moves.
Unlike Ak Guchun, who looked more energized each time, I was getting tired.
I gritted my teeth and squeezed out my last bit of strength.
“Stop! Stop this right now—!”
A familiar voice suddenly rang out.
Ak Guchun and I froze mid-fight.
Ak Guchun scowled in annoyance. I, on the other hand, let out a sigh of relief and turned my head.
It was my father.
With him were the Chief Inspector and Baek Jahyun, the head of security.
“Were you trying to destroy the whole building?!”
We looked around.
The training field was a wreck. Everything was broken and thrown around.
Even worse, all the walls were gone, and the strong wind had ripped off the windows.
The noise had scared the maids and servants so badly they all ran out, shaking with fear. Anyone unaware might’ve thought a war broke out.
Ak Guchun and I looked at each other.
Our annoyed looks disappeared, and we gave each other awkward smiles.
“…Let’s stop here.”
“Y-Yeah.”
Ak Guchun scratched his head and looked up.
I stared at the ground in shame.
This was a disaster.
I lightly kicked a piece of debris near my foot.
“You two—clean all this up and come find me afterward!”
“Yes, sir.”
“…Cough! Me too?”
“I said ‘you two,’ sir.”
“C-Cough! I… I…”
“I said both of you.”
“Cough cough!”
Defeated by my father’s terrifying energy, Ak Guchun turned his head. If he didn’t listen, he’d be kicked out—and then he couldn’t enjoy fun things anymore.
That’s why he had no choice.
But some people find this funny.
Jang Chuhyung, who had been watching, quickly disappeared and returned with a broom in hand.
He smiled slyly and handed the broom to his teacher without fear.
“You know how to sweep, right? Clean it all properly.”
“…?”
“I’ve got errands from the Lord, so I’ll be going now. Hehehe.”
Looking giddy, Jang Chuhyung skipped off like a child.
I silently watched Ak Guchun holding a broom.
A giant muscle man holding a thin broom, his face turning red—it looked pretty funny.
“Don’t laugh. I’ll snap your back in half.”
Hearing his scary voice, I carefully went to find my own broom.
Just then—
Jang Chuhyung came running back, out of breath.
Something had clearly happened—his face said it all.
He stopped in front of me, panting.
“What is it?”
“S-She… she’s here!”
“Who?”
“You know, that pretty lady!”
“Huh?”
“The guesthouse owner from Hwasun Inn!”
Chae Soha flinched when she heard “pretty lady.” But I nodded casually and turned away.
Four days had passed.
If it was her, she should’ve found what I asked for by now.
Maybe she already knew and came here herself since I didn’t visit her.
I handed the broom to Jang Chuhyung.
He accepted it naturally.
“Good luck.”
“Huh? …Wait, what?”
“I have a guest. You clean up instead.”
“Huh?”
Jang Chuhyung gave me a blank look. But I didn’t care about his dumb expression and started walking.
Then—
“Wha?!”
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“Ugh… Master, I—I have something Lord Jin told me to do—”
“He handed it over to you, didn’t he? You clean it. Where are you going?”
“But…!”
“Don’t make me break your neck. Start sweeping!”
“Aaagh?!”
Hearing his screams from afar, I smirked.
That’s what you get for messing around.
Tsk tsk…
Clicking my tongue, I quickened my steps.
I wondered—what information did she bring?
I was curious.
