Chapter 7 – Something Must Be Wrong
Lu Miao sidestepped Chen Miaomiao, following behind Fu Jingyou, continuing to stroll leisurely.
Chen Miaomiao relentlessly chased after her.
“Miao… Lu Miao, hurry up and go! Aren’t you afraid Educated Youth Xie will be angry?”
Lu Miao crossed her arms over her chest, wearing a look of fearless arrogance and willful defiance:
“I’m not even close with him. Just because he calls for me, I have to go? Besides, whether he’s angry or not—what does that have to do with me?”
That single reply completely shut Chen Miaomiao up.
Chen Miaomiao froze in place.
What on earth was going on?
Lu Miao had been provoked into not sharing a room with her—fine. But wasn’t Lu Miao supposed to like Xie Fei the most?
Watching as Lu Miao and Fu Jingyou walked farther and farther away, Chen Miaomiao was practically left reeling in the wind.
She had thought that in this life she could rely on the advantage of her memories to take shortcuts. But looking at it now, it seemed that quite a few things had already deviated from her memory…
Was it because she had been reborn?
Had that triggered a series of butterfly effects?
No. Impossible! If fate were really so easily reversed, then with her memory advantage, the situation should have been leaning even more in her favor!
Chen Miaomiao let out a slow breath, steadying her emotions, then switched hands to carry her grain ration and continued walking toward the educated youth station.
Fu Jingyou helped deliver the things to the station. Without waiting for Lu Miao’s thanks, he turned decisively and strode back.
Lu Miao followed behind, calling out two words of thanks. Then she turned around, planning to sort out the items, return the team leader’s basket and sack. But just as she crouched down, her whole body was suddenly covered by a looming shadow.
Puzzled, Lu Miao looked up—and met Xie Fei’s gaze looking down at her from above.
“…”
What kind of look was that?
Lu Miao was completely baffled.
Xie Fei’s eyes were cold and sharp as he glared at her. “Lu Miao, have you no shame!”
“?” Lu Miao’s brows knitted, and she stood up unhappily. “What’s wrong with you? I advise you to think carefully about what you’re saying.”
Xie Fei sneered with cold mockery. “Am I wrong? Even if you want my attention, you don’t need to go to such lengths. You shamelessly— I still…”
Before Xie Fei could finish, his face was struck to the side, a bright red slap mark blooming on his left cheek.
“Lu Miao!”
“Xie Fei!”
The others in the house all rushed over.
Lu Miao looked at Xie Fei with undisguised disgust. “Stop flattering yourself! Isn’t it revolting!”
Xie Fei was completely stunned by the slap. Covering his cheek, he slowly turned his gaze back, his upturned phoenix eyes staring at Lu Miao in disbelief. “You hit me?”
He had heard that the man called Fu Xiaoliu had a dubious background and was worried she might be deceived. But her?
She had actually slapped him for that man!
“So what if I hit you?” Lu Miao’s delicate face was cold, her voice sharp as she questioned him.
Xie Fei calling her “shameless” over and over had truly made her furious.
“Am I that close with you? You keep calling me shameless. If anyone’s shameless here, it’s you! Don’t be in such a rush to throw your filth on me!”
The two of them quarreled fiercely, and the people nearby didn’t dare to intervene. They could only stand dumbly on the side, preventing them from coming to blows again.
Xie Fei had never seen Lu Miao like this.
He stared at her, shocked and unfamiliar, “Lu Miao, I’ll give you one chance—if you apologize, I’ll forgive you.”
