Chapter 06…
Time Out
Tea party time had arrived.
“Excuse me, Lady Yuliana.”
After Sasha helped me change into my dress for the tea party, I went to join Eliana and Mother.
The moment Eliana saw me, her face lit up with a bright smile.
“Kyaaahhh! Yulie, you’re way too cute! Seriously, an angel!!”
— Can’t breathe…
Just like this morning, Eliana threw her arms around me.
But her excitement was understandable.
Today’s Yuliana was especially adorable.
The dress, based on a soft sky-blue color similar to Yuliana’s eyes, was charming.
The pure white frills, lace, and ribbons were cute as well.
Frilly, fluffy dresses are the exclusive privilege of little girls.
“But Eliana onee-sa— I mean, Sister Elly, you look beautiful too.”
“Yulie~! I’m so glad you remembered what we talked about this morning! And thank you for the compliment!”
Eliana’s dress was a vivid crimson, as fresh as a strawberry.
The black lace added an elegant touch, highlighting her cuteness beautifully.
“Mother! Yulie’s here!”
“Fufu, I can see that. Come over here.”
“Yes! Let’s go, Yulie.”
“Okay.”
I’d had tea parties with Eliana several times before.
We talked about favorite foods, hobbies, talents— all sorts of things.
Since I’d spent so much time in the hospital room, I’d forgotten one topic that every girl inevitably faces.
That was—
“I… have a gentleman I like.”
— Okay, time out.
Right there, I stopped time… in my mind.
— Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
I couldn’t process the information.
— Uh, so… Eliana has someone she likes…
That’s what she said, but I was completely unprepared for that kind of topic.
Eliana is a duke’s daughter.
She’s probably attended one or two social gatherings and met someone she fell for there.
But most young ladies of noble birth already have fiancés.
They can’t decide their future based purely on emotions.
If the “common tropes from my previous life’s stories” apply to this world too, that should be the case here.
“Oh my, is that so? Mother’s hearing this for the first time.”
— If she were confessing only to her little sister, I could understand that, sure. But is this the kind of topic you bring up in front of Mother too? Is that normal? Is that how this works? I—I don’t get it…
Unfortunately, my knowledge of romance was shallow, and my experience? None.
Zero.
Actually, probably in the negatives.
Still, judging by Eliana’s expression, she truly adored this person.
It was love.
“By the way, who is it? And why did you fall for him?”
“Eh!? U-um…”
It had to be either a childhood-friend type or love-at-first-sight type—one of the two classic routes.
“B-Bright-sama…”
“‘……………………’”
Eliana blushed bright red and hid her face with her hands.
Mother and I both froze for several seconds, exchanged glances, and then—
“EHHHHHHHHHHHH!?”
“My, my.”
We couldn’t hide our shock at hearing the name of this country’s First Prince.
