Part 2 Chapter 79
“Right now, where are you…”
The words couldn’t even form on his lips.
“Where? Yes, I’m just returning from Belzer.”
“…”
The confirmation was cruel, and Nike’s vision turned red.
His pupils lost focus. His eyes were drowning in despair.
David felt a thrill run through his brain as he noticed the expression on Nike’s face, one that seemed like he had lost everything.
He hadn’t expected this. The relationship between the 3rd Prince and Bania.
“So why didn’t you keep him by your side? The only reason that child died was because he was the emperor’s concubine… The Valencier family…”
“AAAHHHHHHHH!”
With bloodshot eyes, Nike shrieked and lunged at David. Surprised, David instinctively took a step back as the guards quickly stepped forward to block him.
Nike had completely lost his reason. Yet, his movements were swift, driven by an uncontrollable desire to kill David. Without hesitation, he took out a dagger and swiftly stabbed the guards trying to block his path. His movements were smooth and precise.
“Screeeech! What is that crazy bastard doing?!”
Diana screamed in shock.
The Light’s Restoration
Before the guards could even scream, their wounds miraculously healed. Those familiar with Nike’s support magic didn’t make a sound as they blocked Nike from reaching David. They kept protecting David.
“Haa…!!!”
Nike’s eyes, wide open, flickered with anger, her ragged breathing cutting through her lips.
It was a tragic sight, futilely slashing away at the guards and their bodies, trying to reach David, her ultimate target. Blood splattered across her face. It was a horrifying scene.
“She struggled in agony, cursing the emperor as she died!”
Nike’s twisted expression became even more distorted as she shrieked her words into David’s ear.
“She crawled on the floor like a bug, screaming and begging for her life, vomiting blood, and burning in pain!!”
Over and over, the cruel voice of her lover echoed in her ears.
“Aaah! Aaaahhh!!!”
Her rage, mixed with blood, screamed out in agony.
“Finally, she was reduced to nothing! Burnt to ashes without a trace, with no shape!”
As the words describing Vania’s last moments filled the air, Nike’s movements finally stopped.
“Hah, ha….”
Her body twitched and collapsed to her knees. Her eyes, now empty, were soaked in red.
“You never imagined that the emperor and that child were so close, did you?”
David, watching Nike kneel before him, felt satisfaction.
“I’m sorry. If I had known… I should have just cut off their arms and left them alive.”
“….”
“But don’t worry. I can send you to them soon enough.”
David looked down at the despondent Nike, smiling.
At last, the taste of victory was his.
***
Four days later.
In the central area of Remshtetter Territory.
The rain poured down heavily, muffling all other sounds during the night.
In a two-story old mansion located in the residential area of the estate, this place was now a hiding spot for the killer.
“Would your father know?”
Ryan, sitting on the windowsill on the second floor, spoke with a distant look.
“Would he know that a murderer lives behind his house?”
His gaze was fixed on the top of the Bassenberg Castle far in the distance.
This place was close to the Bassenberg Territory, and it would take less than 30 minutes on horseback to get there.
“…? He shouldn’t. It would be all over if he knew. What nonsense are you talking?”
Rivan, freshly showered, scowled while drying his hair with a towel.
“Hey, are you really asking? A murderer always says something chilling around this time, you know.”
“Stop it. Why are you staring at the empty castle? We got here too fast anyway.”
Rivan grumbled.
It had taken them more than a week to travel from Belzer to this hideout. But thanks to the relentless travel, they arrived after just three days and a half. They hadn’t slept much, taking quick naps when necessary and having meals within five minutes during breaks.
“Do you really want to rush? He’ll probably arrive tomorrow morning at the earliest… Just wait.”
Ryan, sitting on the windowsill, turned to Rivan as he glanced out the window and saw a figure riding a black horse in the distance.
“See that?”
Ryan, slightly smug, turned to Rivan.
“You said that was impossible. But he’s already here.”
“…Huh?”
Rivan’s eyes widened in surprise.
Ryan’s gaze sharpened as he quickly stood up. The figure riding in the rain was unmistakably Ryan’s son-in-law.
“…Half a day, huh?”
Ryan smiled, though his face had grown more serious.
“Don’t you dare make a mistake.”
