Chapter 10
Although it wasn’t the person she had been waiting for, it was still someone she was genuinely happy to see.
“Unni! What brings you here?”
“I was worried, so I came.”
“As you can see, I’m fine.”
“Have you eaten?”
At Hyunseo’s question, Hari lifted the half-finished bowl of cereal.
“You’re eating this again. You really need to take care of your nutrition.”
“It’s a hassle.”
As she spoke, Hari began shoveling the soggy cereal into her mouth. Hyunseo promptly smacked her on the back.
“I told you not to eat things like that!”
The reason Hari preferred salads or oatmeal cereal wasn’t for weight control—it was simply because it was “easy.”
Whether it was her natural disposition or the result of growing up in an orphanage where she rarely had enough to eat, no one knew—but Hari had never been particularly interested in food.
Hyunseo would always nag her, saying that health mattered more than dieting.
“I brought side dishes, so eat properly.”
While Hyunseo transferred the dishes she had brought into small plates, Hari absentmindedly placed a hand on her slightly swollen belly.
“Wow… your belly is so warm, unni.”
“It’d be a problem if it weren’t.”
“Hey, little chick. Do you know your aunt is saving up a lot of money to buy you toys? Grow big quickly and come out soon—I want to see you!”
“It’d be a problem if it came out too soon.”
Though her tone wasn’t particularly affectionate, the way Hyunseo looked at Hari was no different from a mother looking at her child.
Even though she had said cereal was enough, the moment a proper home-cooked meal was set before her, Hari hurriedly began eating, thinking about how long it had been since she’d had a real meal like this.
“What’s this? Did someone sleep over?”
Looking around the house, Hyunseo pointed at the neatly folded blanket on the sofa.
“Oh, my bodyguard.”
“Bodyguard?”
“The company assigned one to me.”
“I heard that from Jungwook. But he stayed the night too? Wasn’t he a man?”
“He is, but I asked him to. I got a little scared being alone.”
“What? Are you crazy?! How could you trust a bodyguard you just met for one day and sleep in the same place?!”
Hyunseo exploded, but Hari remained calm, as if it were already in the past.
“He’s not that kind of person.”
“And you say that like you know him?”
“Unni, you know that soldier I told you about so many times?”
“Yeah, I know. Your first love. I think I’ve heard that story a hundred times.”
“That man is my bodyguard. Isn’t that amazing?”
“Really?”
“Yes! Really!”
“How does something like that even happen?”
“I know, right? That’s why even though I’m being threatened right now, I’m not feeling depressed.”
Knowing how fondly Hari always spoke about him, Hyunseo found herself swept up in the moment and smiled along. But she quickly regained her composure and resumed her nagging.
“Still, a man is a man. Don’t get caught up in any unnecessary scandals. Treat him strictly as your bodyguard. Got it?”
“Yes, I’ll be careful.”
Hyunseo rested her chin on her hand as she sat across from Hari.
“When your CEO said he’d take good care of you, I thought it was just talk. But seeing how they’re handling this situation, it feels genuine. I like that.”
“You’ve seen the CEO’s face, right?”
“Yeah, I have. Why?”
Hyunseo was the very person who had raised Hari to where she was now as the head of Bless You Entertainment.
Although she had received a large sum of money through the merger with Chacha Entertainment, it wasn’t about the money. She had seen how sincerely they wanted Hari, and they could provide things that a small company simply couldn’t. The merger had been decided solely for Hari’s sake.
“I was just curious. I’ve never seen him. I even searched for ‘Chagon’ online—you know? It showed some white-haired old man.”
“No, that’s the chairman of the parent company. The CEO is someone else. I heard the succession hasn’t been finalized yet.”
Because his impression had been so strong, Hyunseo still remembered his face vividly.
“He’s young, handsome, tall… and most importantly, his physique is incredible! Hehe…”
Seeing her unable to hide her mischievous smile, Hari inwardly scoffed.
How handsome could a company CEO really be? Whoever it was, if you put him next to Cha Jisang, he’d look like a squid. Thinking that, she silently mocked the unknown CEO.
Just then, the doorbell rang again.
“I think my bodyguard is here!”
This time, she truly believed Jisang had returned—but contrary to her excited expectation, it was her manager Jungwook who walked in.
“Hari, all your schedules are canceled for the time being.”
“All of them…?”
“It’s an order from the CEO. There’s also something else you need to do.”
Before Hari could respond, Hyunseo asked instead.
“Something else? What is it?”
“You’re moving.”
“Moving?”
Why was moving suddenly coming up? The two women exchanged puzzled looks. Then Jungwook added something even more unexpected.
“Let’s start packing right away.”
Hari knew he sometimes joked around, so she didn’t react—but the problem was Hyunseo, who couldn’t stand not knowing things. Knowing full well his wife’s temper, Jungwook still managed to provoke her, as usual.
“Hey, Choi Jungwook. Explain properly.”
“Sorry.”
Being utterly whipped when it came to his wife, Jungwook quickly stopped teasing and explained the situation.
“The company got her a place.”
“They got her a house?”
“They said where Hari is living now is too dangerous, so she should stay somewhere safer.”
“But how do you just get a house in one day?”
“There happened to be a vacant one. It used to be an idol dorm. You know how idols move out once they’ve built their careers and start living independently.”
“That’s true.”
Hyunseo nodded in agreement.
“Is it a decent place?”
She couldn’t just pack without asking questions when they were suddenly moving without prior discussion. But Jungwook spoke with absolute confidence.
“Yeah. It’s a townhouse in Hannam-dong.”
“What? Don’t tell me… that place?”
Shocked, Hyunseo asked again, and Jungwook grinned with satisfaction.
“Yeah. The one you and I both know.”
“Oh my god, that’s amazing!”
Clap, clap, clap. Hyunseo clapped her hands in genuine admiration.
“As expected from a big company—they handle things perfectly. Sending our Hari to a big agency was the right move.”
Unlike them, Hari couldn’t quite process it. It was all too sudden, and she still felt like this old villa suited her better.
But Chacha Entertainment didn’t even give her time to feel intimidated—they moved forward swiftly, leaving no room for hesitation.
“They say it’s fully furnished, so you can just move in. So let’s pack.”
“Um… oppa. I’m not mentally prepared yet…”
Hari made a distressed face, but Jungwook and Hyunseo were already busy.
“Pack your bankbook and contracts, and—”
“And your jewelry too.”
“Hari! Don’t just stand there—go get your suitcase.”
“…Yes, unni.”
In the end, for Hari, Hyunseo’s words were law. It was a belief forged through her difficult debut process—if she listened to Hyunseo, she would at least never lose out.
With the three of them packing together, two suitcases were filled in no time. Taking only the essentials, they loaded everything into the van and headed to Hannam-dong.
“Is this the right place?”
The moment they arrived, Hari’s eyes widened like a rabbit’s.
The grand exterior and scale left her jaw hanging open.
Hannam-dong—one of the hottest neighborhoods in Korea. And among it, one of the most prestigious townhouse complexes.
“Unni… I’m starting to feel a little intimidated.”
Hyunseo took Hari’s shrinking hand and said firmly,
“Don’t feel small. You’re Yoo Hari. A flower I raised, someone who’s loved wherever she goes. Got it?”
“Yes…”
“Shoulders back! Be confident!”
“Yes!”
Jungwook approached the main gate with just as much confidence as he had instructed Hari.
“Yoo Hari has moved in. I was told you’d know. Where should we go?”
The security guard immediately came forward.
“Oh! Ms. Yoo Hari, it’s an honor to meet you. You’re even more beautiful than I heard. The owner informed us in advance. Please follow me.”
Even without the usual identity checks, they were allowed through the tight security where even delivery personnel couldn’t easily enter. As an actress, her face was her ID—but since she wasn’t used to this kind of treatment, Hari felt slightly embarrassed.
“This is the place.”
“Wow…”
And finally, the moment they arrived at the house, all three of them gasped in unison.
