Chapter 5
Welcome to the Human Fan Club
(Part 4)
Dia stared intently at the retreating backs of Ruki and Haru as they walked away.
Her gaze was fixed on Haru.
She tried to focus, to confirm the appearance of his soul, but it was hazy, as if a filter was over it, and she couldn’t see it clearly.
He had been introduced as a human. It didn’t seem like Ruki was lying either.
His form also looked human, yet she felt it was made to appear human. During the earlier conversation, he hadn’t spoken a word, and even Dia couldn’t see his depths.
“…Is that guy really human?”
She looked at him suspiciously but couldn’t reach a conclusion.
“Dia~, what’s wrong?”
Called out from the side, Dia finally turned her gaze back to Akatsuki.
It seemed Akatsuki hadn’t heard the question she had muttered earlier.
“I’m satisfied now, so let’s go home. ‘I’ only have half a year left, and there’s somewhere I absolutely want to go.”
It seemed he had finished his conversation with Baldoro without her noticing, as he tugged on Dia’s sleeve.
Baldoro had seemingly joined a group of other demons and started talking. His communication skills were high, and he had a personality that got along with anyone. That was probably why Dia trusted him so much.
“Understood. Where shall we head next?”
When Dia asked this, Akatsuki took a map out of his bag and handed it to her.
The place written on it, ‘Miscar Town’, was a small town far removed from the city center.
Dia recognized the name of this town. It was a town famous among some demons for a certain reason. If the rumors were true, it should be a dangerous place where, frankly, humans wouldn’t want to go.
Dia tried to stop him, but Akatsuki’s resolve seemed firm.
“It’s the town where the very first ‘me’ was born, way, way further back than a thousand years ago.”
