Chapter 10: “Fu Nanzhou, Save Me”
From a distance, Fu Nanzhou could already see Lu Xi being dragged around by a man. His gaze darkened slightly.
“President Fu, that’s your wife,” Ding Yu reminded him.
Fu Nanzhou glanced at him coldly. “I’m not blind.”
With that, he strode over with long, steady steps.
“Cousin, let me go!” Lu Xi struggled desperately, clutching her collar to avoid exposing herself.
But Li Gang’s mind was in chaos. All he could think about was that Lu Xi had lied to him—she needed to be “dealt with.”
Suddenly, he hoisted her onto his shoulder and, holding a key in one hand, headed toward a nearby high-rise building.
Lu Xi’s body stiffened like a wooden stick. She screamed at the top of her lungs.
“Help! Kidnapping! He’s kidnapping me!”
There were quite a few people around, but everyone just watched.
“That guy lives in Building 19, right? I’ve seen him before. He seemed pretty honest…”
“Today he looks off. I heard someone in Building 19 has mental issues. Is it him?”
“So what if it is? Would you dare intervene? He doesn’t look easy to mess with. We’re just out for a walk—don’t get involved or he might come after us later.”
Lu Xi cried harder.
“Grandpa, please call the police for me!”
Li Gang’s expression suddenly turned fierce. “Whoever calls the police, I’ll kill their whole family!”
A collective gasp spread through the crowd, and everyone quickly backed away.
Lu Xi fell into despair.
Even “kill their whole family” was being said—what would happen to her?
Panicked, she cried harder, punching and biting him in desperation, but it was useless.
Suddenly, a deep voice came from afar.
“Lu Xi.”
Her eyes widened instantly.
Tears burst out uncontrollably.
Fu Nanzhou?!
She looked around frantically—and sure enough, the tall, imposing figure was walking toward them step by step.
Like grasping a lifeline, she screamed:
“Fu Nanzhou, save me!”
Li Gang stopped abruptly and turned around.
Fu Nanzhou walked forward unhurriedly, his gaze dark and cold, carrying an overwhelming pressure.
“Put her down,” he said flatly.
Li Gang snapped, “She’s my wife!”
Fu Nanzhou let out a cold laugh. “Since when did I not know that?”
“Get lost!”
“Ding Yu,” Fu Nanzhou called calmly.
Ding Yu immediately stepped forward and kicked Li Gang hard in the knee.
Li Gang staggered and nearly fell.
At that moment, Fu Nanzhou caught Lu Xi directly into his arms.
“Call the police,” he ordered, then turned and left carrying her.
Lu Xi, still shaken, leaned against him with a pale face.
Only when they got into the car did she slowly regain her senses.
Fu Nanzhou frowned. “Scared?”
Lu Xi nodded repeatedly. “Fu Uncle… he… he seems mentally ill.”
“Mm.” Fu Nanzhou glanced outside.
The man had already been restrained by Ding Yu.
From his behavior earlier, he indeed seemed unstable.
“How did you end up with him?”
“My aunt-in-law introduced him,” Lu Xi lowered her head. “My sister said we were just going to have dinner, she didn’t say he would be there.”
“You didn’t tell your sister you’re married?”
Lu Xi shook her head. “Not yet. I wanted to tell her today, but there were too many people.”
She sounded a little down.
Fu Nanzhou handed her a wet tissue. “Wipe your tears.”
“Thank you.”
He leaned back slightly, his long legs crossed, and looked at her. “Why did your sister-in-law introduce you to someone?”
“For sixty-six thousand in betrothal money. She wants to use it to help my brother-in-law buy a house.”
Fu Nanzhou laughed faintly. “She’s using your bride price to buy a house?”
Lu Xi bit her lip. “My parents divorced when I was very young…”
She began to explain her past—being left behind, her sister sacrificing exams for her, and how she had been living at her brother-in-law’s house ever since.
“So I’ve always paid living expenses too,” she added softly.
Fu Nanzhou’s smile disappeared. His dark eyes locked onto her.
This girl had been living as a dependent for years.
“Do you want me to handle this for you?” he asked.
“Huh?” Lu Xi blinked.
“I don’t want to make our marriage public,” he said calmly, “but if you need me to meet your family as your husband, I can.”
Lu Xi quickly waved her hands. “No need, no need. My sister probably wants me to find someone suitable.”
Fu Nanzhou raised a brow. “I’m not suitable?”
“You’re a bit… older,” she said honestly.
Fu Nanzhou: “?”
Thirty years old—old?
Realizing what she said, Lu Xi hurriedly added, “But you don’t look old! You look very young and handsome!”
Fu Nanzhou: “……”
Young and handsome?
Isn’t that just stating facts?
For the first time in thirty years, Fu Nanzhou felt speechless.
Still, he was eight years older than her. That age gap was real.
Since she preferred not to expose him, that was fine.
Their marriage was only to avoid family arrangements anyway—it had nothing to do with feelings.
He could treat her well, but there was no need to deal with her complicated relatives.
That evening, Lu Xi received a call from her sister.
“I’m at Yiyi’s uncle’s house,” she answered, still upset. “I’m fine, I’ll hang up now.”
“Xi Xi,” her sister hesitated, “what do you think of Li Gang?”
Lu Xi immediately snapped, “What do you mean? Sister, do you really want me to marry him?”
Her sister paused. “Actually, his conditions are pretty good…”
“I refuse!” Lu Xi’s voice broke. “He kidnapped me today! If my friend hadn’t called the police, I don’t know what would’ve happened!”
Her sister froze. “He kidnapped you?!”
Before she could respond—
“Lu Xi! You ungrateful brat! How dare you get my nephew arrested?!” her aunt-in-law’s furious voice came through the phone.
Lu Xi’s expression turned cold.
And the situation escalated once again…
