Chapter 26
It had been an exhausting day.
From the morning, Ethan barged in and started berating me.
By afternoon, I was dragged off to the royal palace for no reason at all.
At the palace, the angelic male lead acted all serious and composed, completely out of character.
And right beside him, the damn secondary male lead was completely absorbed in pretending to be a fiancé, as if it suited him at all.
Yes, I could understand that they were acting out however they wanted.
After all, they were the protagonists who had controlled the original story with their own hands.
In a world where the female lead had disappeared, it must be frustrating and exhausting for them to cope just among themselves.
So if they hit and fight each other, I didn’t think of stopping them.
But…
“Why do you have to fight with me stuck in the middle, you crazy idiots! I’m not the female lead you cherished and loved so much!”
It annoyed me that I had to bear the consequences of their reckless antics.
I couldn’t understand how my peaceful, secluded life in the magical tower had turned into such a turbulent mess.
“Maybe it would’ve been better to live peacefully, having my magic drained by that sly, annoying Theodore…”
…No, even that wouldn’t have been peaceful.
Anyway, I suddenly missed Theodore.
Whenever I felt even a little down, he somehow knew and would rush to me like a ghost—not with mischief, but to cheer me up.
Sobbing, I thought, Theodore… when I go back to the tower, I’ll really treat you well.
“Haaah…”
No, treating Theodore well was a problem for later. Right now, my body was utterly exhausted.
In front of Ethan, I stayed tense, worried I might upset him.
In front of Julius, I constantly gauged his words, unsure of what he would say.
I just wanted to forget all that complexity and go home to rest.
My cozy bed at home… my room is the best, really.
It didn’t take long to get from the palace to the Servita mansion… By the time a bit of drowsiness set in, I could step out of the carriage.
I nodded off while imagining sinking into my soft bed at home.
Suddenly, I snapped my head up—and found myself locking eyes with Ethan, who had been watching me.
Seeing that lazy gaze, I realized immediately.
…Ah, he’s going to nag again.
I was too sleepy to care about anything right now.
With my eyes completely relaxed and unguarded, I stared back at Ethan…
