Chapter – 67
“Then let’s head over,” Qin Shiyue said, now a little impatient to see Lin Qingyi.
Inside the nanny van, Bai Wenxi could clearly feel the low pressure in the air. She secretly observed Lin Qingyi. Her boss was obviously still in a bad mood. Maybe Qin Shiyue had just happened to show up with her ex-wife, and they were already divorced—was there really a need to be this jealous? Bai Wenxi felt that her boss kept refreshing her understanding of just how much Lin Qingyi cared about Qin Shiyue.
“President Qin just asked what time we’re heading back to the hotel. They’re probably almost there too,” Bai Wenxi said, wondering if seeing the person she liked might lift her boss’s mood a little.
At this moment, Qin Shiyue was like a drop of water thrown into hot oil, making Lin Qingyi’s heart sizzle and explode. Her heart was in turmoil, yet her outward expression was astonishingly calm.
Lin Qingyi believed that her most precious assets were her time and energy—things she was stingy about giving to others. Yet with Qin Shiyue, she had been generous and indulgent to a degree that even she found unbelievable. But no matter how good she was to her, Qin Shiyue’s heart still lingered on her ex-wife. The moment that ex-wife appeared, Qin Shiyue would trail after her like a tail, even getting jealous over someone who didn’t even like her. Meanwhile, Lin Qingyi felt more like a convenient tool—used when needed and discarded afterward.
“Tell her not to come,” Lin Qingyi said coldly. She didn’t want to be that silly vase’s tool anymore, making herself look even more foolish.
“Huh?” Bai Wenxi panicked inwardly. Qin Shiyue and Fang Xinhua were probably almost at the hotel already. Sending them back now would be awkward. Not even wanting to see her? The severity had once again exceeded Bai Wenxi’s expectations. Her boss’s possessiveness was really something else.
“They’re almost here. Wouldn’t it be bad to turn them away like this?” Bai Wenxi tried to salvage the situation.
Lin Qingyi shot her a cold glance. Sometimes being clever wasn’t a good thing.
“I understand how to handle it,” Bai Wenxi quickly said after receiving that look, and immediately replied to Fang Xinhua.
“I’m very sorry, but our Teacher Lin isn’t feeling well today. She probably won’t be able to rehearse lines with your Erbao tonight.” Bai Wenxi sighed softly at her misjudgment. Of course, she couldn’t tell them that the real reason Lin Qingyi was in a bad mood was jealousy. Lin Qingyi would never admit it, nor would she want anyone to know.
Bai Wenxi understood that when someone was in a good mood, they were more tolerant—her occasional overstepping might be forgiven. But when someone was in a bad mood, they became easily irritated and couldn’t bear to have their sore spots touched.
Fang Xinhua, who was only a few steps away from Lin Qingyi’s hotel, frowned slightly upon receiving the message. Erbao had just started feeling better, and now she’d be doused with cold water again. Since they’d said so, they could only turn back.
“Agent Bai said that Teacher Lin isn’t in good spirits today, so she can’t rehearse with you,” Fang Xinhua told Qin Shiyue.
Qin Shiyue was a straightforward person. It never occurred to her that this was just an excuse because Lin Qingyi didn’t want to see her. She genuinely thought Lin Qingyi wasn’t feeling well.
“Is she sick? No wonder she left dinner so quickly. Since we’re already almost there, let’s check on her before going back,” Qin Shiyue said worriedly. “By the way, ask Agent Bai what’s wrong with her. We can buy some medicine on the way.”
Her desire to see Lin Qingyi only grew stronger.
“‘Not in good spirits’ doesn’t necessarily mean she’s physically ill. Agent Bai seems like someone who expresses herself accurately,” Fang Xinhua said, feeling that Erbao was overly concerned. Maybe Lin Qingyi simply didn’t want to see her.
“Since we’re already here, let’s at least take a look,” Qin Shiyue insisted. She believed her concern for Lin Qingyi was simply because Lin had helped her greatly, and she was a grateful person who knew how to repay kindness—that was why she was worried.
Coincidentally, just as Qin Shiyue arrived at the entrance of Lin Qingyi’s hotel, she saw Lin Qingyi’s nanny van driving up from a short distance away.
Qin Shiyue craned her neck, waiting for Lin Qingyi to get out.
The van door opened, revealing first a pair of long, slender legs.
Qin Shiyue felt that even Lin Qingyi’s legs were prettier than other people’s—well-proportioned, long, and straight, irresistibly alluring, making one eager to see the full picture of their owner.
As expected, the owner of those legs did not disappoint. Her figure was impeccable, her face flawless, her temperament refined. But Qin Shiyue quickly sensed that something was off today. Lin Qingyi clearly saw her, yet pretended not to. And usually, Lin Qingyi would smile upon seeing her—but today, she didn’t. Without that smile, her cool, distant aura resurfaced.
Which nerve had she gotten crossed? Why was she putting on such a cold, untouchable front? Who had upset her? Qin Shiyue was baffled.
She planned to ask once Lin Qingyi came closer. But when Lin Qingyi did, she simply walked past her, treating her like air.
Qin Shiyue stared in disbelief at the retreating figure. Was this woman blind? She was standing right there—how could she not see her?
“Didn’t you see me?” Qin Shiyue quickly caught up and blocked Lin Qingyi’s path after they entered the hotel’s glass doors.
“President Qin, is there something you need?” Lin Qingyi asked flatly, as if Qin Shiyue were just a stranger.
Qin Shiyue looked at the suddenly unfamiliar Lin Qingyi in disbelief. Lin Qingyi had never been this cold toward her before. This coldness was even more unpleasant than when she teased her.
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you suddenly acting so weird?” Qin Shiyue felt utterly confused. Who changes their expression like flipping a switch? Even if she was an award-winning actress experimenting with new acting techniques, she should at least give her a heads-up. Right now, Qin Shiyue felt like a fool who didn’t even know how to respond.
“If President Qin has nothing else, I’ll return to my room to rest,” Lin Qingyi said even more coldly, then brushed past Qin Shiyue again.
Though she didn’t know why Lin Qingyi had suddenly changed her attitude, Qin Shiyue wasn’t stupid—she could tell Lin Qingyi didn’t want to deal with her. Being met with such unexplained coldness made Qin Shiyue feel deeply wronged. She couldn’t understand why Lin Qingyi had suddenly become so distant.
Could it be that she had gotten back together with Kong Huizhi, and so had changed her attitude toward her—the ex-wife of Kong Huizhi?
