Chapter : 14

The Bachelor Noble Enjoys Music

Relying on the simple map printed on the flyer, I made my way to the theater.

The theater wasn’t far from where I had been walking, and I arrived in less than ten minutes.

The Royal Capital Opera House, slightly north of Chuo Ward.

It was a four-story building with pristine white walls and a pale green roof.

The grandeur of its design could easily be mistaken for a high-ranking noble’s mansion, and it was clear that a considerable amount of funds had been invested in its construction.

At the entrance, those dressed in fine clothes flowed inside almost as if drawn by gravity.

Most of them were probably wealthy residents of the Royal Capital.

Even the citizens observing from afar seemed intimidated by the magnificent building and the affluent attendees.

It’s natural to feel nervous if you’ve never entered such a place before.

I had felt that way at first too, but it’s a matter of getting used to it.

Fortunately, I was wearing a three-piece suit today, so I wouldn’t stand out inside the opera house.

Besides, I had enough money on me. It’s all about confidence.

I followed the flow of the high-class crowd and stepped into the opera house.

Inside, the entire floor was white marble, polished enough to faintly reflect the attire of those walking above it.

At the far end were the ticket counters and the entrance gates.

When I showed the flyer at the counter, they quickly prepared tickets for the orchestra.

The seats were already filling up, so the only available ones were toward the back.

Ticket prices started from 3,000 Soro, with premium seats going beyond 100,000 Soro.

The higher-priced seats must offer a better view of the performers and superior sound quality.

Still, I wasn’t a particular fan of the orchestra listed on the flyer, so I chose a standard rear seat.

Since I didn’t have any luggage to check, the ticketing process was smooth, and a staff member guided me into the hall.

Inside, the hall was circular, with seats arranged all around. The second, third, and fourth floors also had seating, and the second-floor premium seats were extremely close to the stage.

A red curtain hung over the stage, signaling that preparations were underway.

I located my seat by checking the ticket number and row, and took my place.

There were a fair number of people in the hall, yet a peculiar silence prevailed.

You could really feel the sophistication of those who came to the opera. This was nice.

After a while, an announcement was made, and the lights in the hall gradually dimmed.

Simultaneously, the curtain rose, revealing the stage as the musicians began to enter one by one.

The performers included humans, beastmen, lizardmen, elves, dwarves, and other races, with various genders and builds. The differences in silhouette were interesting to watch.

Each musician sat at their respective spot and began preparing their instruments.

Violins, cellos, double basses, flutes, and trumpets were familiar even from my previous life, but there seemed to be some unique instruments of this world mixed in.

Some resembled horns but with extremely long tubes winding around the performer’s back, and there were trumpets customized far longer than usual.

I was excited to hear what sounds these unknown instruments would produce.

Once all the musicians were seated, an elf man, seemingly the conductor, appeared.

The audience erupted into applause, with some cheering from the front rows.

Some must have come specifically to see the conductor. I gave a welcoming clap too, slightly amused.

After the conductor bowed politely to the audience, he stepped onto the podium.

The applause died down, and silence enveloped the hall.

It felt as though the entire hall was consumed by the musicians’ focus and determination.

Even the faintest footstep would resonate loudly now.

As I waited in tense anticipation, the conductor moved his arms.

Then, a blonde woman began playing the violin solo.

Her gentle, delicate notes were soon followed by the other musicians, each joining in.

Gradually, the sounds blended together, merging with other instruments into a complex harmony.

Amazing. I had listened to orchestral music occasionally in my previous life, but hearing it up close was a completely different experience in terms of sound quality and impact.

The delicate tones were so pleasant that I was completely absorbed, even though I didn’t know the piece. This was wonderful.

Before I realized it, the piece had ended.

Applause erupted throughout the hall.

The sound had been so beautiful that it was disappointing for it to end.

After the applause subsided, silence returned as the next piece began.

The conductor swung his arms forcefully, and suddenly a deep, resonant bass echoed through the hall.

It was in stark contrast to the gentle, delicate first piece—fast-paced and intense.

The lingering impression of the first piece only amplified this explosive impact.

Especially remarkable was the trombone played by a plump lizardman.

His belly was so inflated that it seemed like a balloon, pushing air through the instrument.

A lung capacity impossible for a human.

No wonder his trombone was customized not only for his physique but also to accommodate his immense lung capacity.

Yet, the high-pitched instruments responded without being overshadowed.

Violins, violas, flutes, and other high notes mixed with the bass, forming a harmonious sound.

Among the blending sounds, one instrument stood out—a horn-like instrument I had never seen before.

It could play both deep and high notes.

Typically, horns are characterized by their clear tone or the soft timbre of woodwinds, but this one seemed capable of both.

It apparently had an exceptionally wide range, allowing for versatile performance.

The structure was strange too, with tubes extending over the back despite its rounded shape.

What kind of design was this? It looked as complex as a magical circuit.

“Magical circuit?”

Could I curve and layer the magical circuits of my cooler like that to improve efficiency?

There’s no rule that a circuit must remain flat, as long as the mana from the magic stones is properly transmitted.

“This might actually work.”

Before I knew it, my thoughts had completely shifted to magical tools.

I wanted to rush home and test it.

However, leaving in the middle of a performance would disturb both the musicians and the audience, which would be bad manners.

At least I had to wait until the performance ended.

“Hurry up and finish… I don’t want to lose this idea.”

I focused on keeping the idea from escaping my mind and waited, finally leaving the hall once the performance concluded.
