Prologue
To Captain Ashley,
Hello, Captain.
This is Agatha.
If you’re reading this letter, you must have seen the divorce agreement as well.
I understand that receiving a divorce agreement suddenly might have shocked you. After staying in the quarters for a few days, unable to sleep, and thinking it over thoroughly, this is the decision I made. If you think I was forced to write the divorce agreement by someone, that’s not the case, so please don’t misunderstand.
There’s something you absolutely need to know, and I’m leaving you this final note.
I recently regained my memory. As you know, before I lost my memory, I found you uncomfortable. To be honest, I disliked you.
I…
…(excerpt omitted)
P.S.
The ring you gave me is in the drawer.
‘As I recently regained my memory. As you know…’
Ashley stared at the letters and repeatedly read the sentence in the letter.
Sigh…!
A heavy sigh, almost like crying, escaped from his lips.
He looked down at the letter with a hard expression, as if unaffected.
I do not love you, Captain. I won’t in the future either, and if I get another life, I will never love you then either.
The nurse who saved your life at the field hospital, Agatha, makes her first and final request: Please agree to the divorce agreement.

Chapter 1: Becoming the Enemy’s Nurse (1)
Ashley pulled his eyes away from the book and stared at a woman.
She was carrying a tray with medicine bottles, walking through the field hospital, and she was the nurse.
Natalie.
The injured soldiers called her that.
The nurse stopped in front of a patient’s bed. She picked up a pill with tweezers and handed it to the soldier. When the soldier said something to her, she smiled and answered back.
She had a great smile. She spoke well.
The nurse had already smiled at the soldier three times today.
Ashley looked at the nurse’s face intently. Seeing her bright face, he felt like this wasn’t the same nurse he knew.
He had always been treated coldly by her, so he couldn’t help but be puzzled. At first, he thought she was just busy, so he didn’t think much of it. But now, as he was recovering, he noticed that she never made eye contact with him.
Curiosity began to get the better of him.
Why doesn’t she look at my face? Is she trying to avoid me? Or is she just the type who doesn’t make eye contact?
Ashley grew tired of thinking about it. He didn’t know why, so every time the nurse came to his bed, his nerves were on edge. He started observing her closely and soon realized that his assumptions were completely wrong.
Once, he even walked up to her on purpose.
When the nurse saw him, she quickly turned her head, like she had been caught off guard. Then she stood still and didn’t move until he passed by.
She knows my face well…
Ashley tilted his head, narrowing his eyes. The nurse was clearly avoiding him and was unusually cautious around him.
So what?
There are many types of people in the world. Not everyone has to like him. It was uncomfortable, but he found it ridiculous to react to it. He consciously ignored her while pretending to read his book, trying not to pay attention to the nurse who stood out wherever she was.

Natalie’s real name was Agatha. She had been living under the name given to her by the orphanage director, as she was a runaway.
Agatha sighed deeply. She needed to go to the fifth bed on the right now. She clenched her teeth and walked toward Ashley’s bed.
“Here’s your lunch medication.”
She picked up a pill with tweezers, and their eyes met.
“…!”
Agatha quickly lowered her gaze, startled. She held onto the tweezers tightly but noticed that he wasn’t taking the pill.
Agatha spoke in a cold tone.
“Please take your medication.”
“Thank you.”
Ashley replied with a polite and soft voice, extending his large hand. Agatha placed the pill in his hand, wrapped in bandages.
“Take it.”
Hurry up.
Some patients sometimes secretly throw away their medication without taking it. Usually, Agatha would stand and watch to make sure they took it, but this time, she just left after a short remark.
Ashley looked down at his hand, which now held the pill. He let out a small chuckle and tightened his grip.
The nurse walked to a soldier who had a splint on his arm. Among the loud noises of soldiers yelling in pain, calling out names, and moving around, Agatha’s calm voice stood out clearly. She didn’t sound like the nurse from earlier who had been shaking.
“I’ll ask Hout if this prescription is possible.”
“I’d really appreciate that.”
The nurse put the medicine in the man’s mouth and tilted the glass of water to help him swallow. Once the soldier swallowed the medicine, the nurse politely bowed her head and moved on to the next bed.
“This is funny.”
Despite the words, Ashley’s face remained stiff.
He looked down at his bandaged hands, furrowing his brow and curling one side of his mouth into a small smirk.
Ashley continued to stare at her. Agatha’s head turned, and their eyes met again.
This time, she didn’t look surprised. Instead, she glared at him and turned her head haughtily.
Ha, this is amusing.
The nurse showed him a look of contempt.
It wasn’t a big deal, but she had made eye contact with that kind of expression.
Ashley’s earlier resolve to not care about it vanished, and he felt a strange frustration. If she wanted attention, he’d make sure she got it. With that thought, Ashley put on a charming smile.

“Pardon? Did you say something?”
Agatha asked, as if she had misheard.
“Yes. Nurse Natalie, please take care of Captain Gloucester.”
“Why me?”
Agatha raised an eyebrow and asked the senior nurse, Adele. There were five nurses at the field hospital, and though Agatha wasn’t the most senior, she had been there for 10 months, longer than some others. Plus, she didn’t want to be the personal nurse for Captain Gloucester.
“As you know, Captain Gloucester is an important patient at our hospital.”
“…Yes.”
Agatha answered weakly, lowering her voice.
Adele sighed, looking at her.
“I don’t understand why you don’t want to take care of Captain Gloucester when you’ve already been his nurse.”
“Couldn’t you assign him to a more experienced nurse? I’m not skilled enough to take care of such an important person.”
“Captain Gloucester requested you specifically.”
“…What?”
Agatha’s eyes widened in surprise, and Adele tilted her head in confusion. It seemed like Agatha didn’t know that Captain Gloucester had asked for her by name. He had told Hout that he trusted her to take care of him.
“It seems Captain Gloucester appreciates your dedication.”
With that, Adele closed her notebook and stood up, signaling the end of the conversation.
Agatha’s expression didn’t improve. She looked upset, her face stiff with frustration.
As Adele turned to leave, Agatha’s voice came out quietly.
“I think it’s unfair to give Captain Gloucester a private room.”
The field hospital was always short on beds, and yet they were giving a private room to one person.
“Aren’t you aware of who Captain Gloucester is?”
Adele snapped back, and Agatha lowered her gaze, tightening her lips.
Adele clicked her tongue, realizing Agatha didn’t know the full story. Gloucester’s family controlled many businesses, including one that provided arms and ammunition to the military. Without their supplies, the army would have suffered many more casualties in the war.
His son, Captain Gloucester, was recovering quickly due to his naturally strong body, but he still needed rest and focused care. Despite that, Agatha had criticized giving him a private room.
Adele smiled kindly, trying to calm the situation.
“His room is at the end of the hallway. Please go and check it out.”
