MID

Chapter – 12

My market predictions have been eerily accurate lately.
Following Nvidia’s excellent earnings report, I shifted my portfolio toward semiconductor stocks.
The total investment amounts to 2.5 million yen.

Since I can’t buy leveraged ETFs or individual U.S. stocks denominated in dollars, I increased my holdings in physical shares instead.
The effect is the same, and the volatility is lower, so I feel more at ease.

Either way, my plan is to hold for the next three years.
In the meantime, I’ll continue accumulating U.S. Treasury bonds to prepare for a potential market crash.
When that crash happens, I’ll sell the bonds and use the funds to buy more stocks.

If the NISA contribution limit resets next year, I’ll start accumulating around eight mutual funds.
For semiconductor stocks, I’ll take positions in the taxable account, which makes it easier to sell.
The NISA account, on the other hand, is for long-term holding — I basically don’t plan to sell those.

Here’s my current profit and loss status:
Since yesterday, the market has surged dramatically.
It looks like my unrealized profit has finally exceeded 500,000 yen.

Investment amount: 7,100,931 yen (+570,000 yen)

It’s 2024. I started using the new NISA system.

I had sworn that I would never touch stocks again.
Yes, I really did.

And yet—
More than ten years ago,

After the Lehman Shock,
I stepped back into the market once again.

Just with 1 million yen.
I told myself I would withdraw cleanly if I lost.

Just as I had declared,
I pulled out of the stock market after losing several hundred thousand yen.

It’s a bitter memory. (LOL)

Since then,
I steadily saved money,
and it eventually grew into a considerable amount.

Even though I should have known better, I started investing in stocks again.
I figured I’d probably leave around 5 million yen behind when I die anyway,
so why not invest and grow the money I plan to leave for my son?

With that simple thought, I began investing again.
Now, a year and a half later, how are things looking?
