Chapter : 10
I’ll Save You in the Bad Ending Route
The Wizard Promotion Exam
It had been a week since the culprit behind Freya and Aaron’s assignment theft was revealed. During that time, the kids’ curiosity had slowly started to fade.
“Two boxes of macarons, please.”
“Yes, yes—here you go, pretty lady!”
I dropped by a bakery on Roas Street to pick up desserts. Over the past week, I’d been having tea parties with Freya quite often.
As expected of a prestigious school for nobles—everyone loves tea parties. Thanks to that, even though I wasn’t Freya’s official page, people had started treating me like one. Freya herself shared magic knowledge with me and took good care of me.
Being able to become Freya’s friend made me truly happy. It felt better than having the hierarchical relationship of page and master.
And since Aaron had taken interest in me too, my first plan had wrapped up nicely.
Now it was time to move on to the second phase.
During lunch break, hugging the macarons I bought for today’s tea party, I headed to the Emerald Garden. On the way, I overheard whispering.
“Is she Freya’s new page?”
“Ugh, I’m so jealous~”
“Why would someone like her catch Freya’s eye all of a sudden?”
They whispered so much my ears practically tickled. Apparently if you can’t be a page, aim to be a friend.
…Is that supposed to be easier?
“Airan~!”
A bold voice called my name. When I turned, I found a group of unfamiliar students standing there.
‘Who? I don’t remember them… nameless extras?’
“I heard you became Freya’s page~ Congrats~”
“Oh—uh, thanks.”
Four girls swarmed around me like we were lifelong besties.
“I knew it would be you—Airan, you’re so sweet and pretty!”
‘Ah. Got it.’
They were the ones who used to laugh along with Yerina’s group. Now that I was rising, they wanted to cozy up to me instead.
I smiled pleasantly, pretending not to notice.
“Thanks~”
The four girls stuck together like a single creature, wearing the exact same smile. Then they revealed the real reason they approached.
“Can you give this to Lady Freya?”
“We prepared it ourselves!”
“Airan’s so kind—you’ll do it, right?”
A letter, three crème brûlées, and one bottle of very expensive-looking ink.
“Thanks soooo much, Airan~”
Before I even agreed, they shoved the heavy gifts into my arms and giggled away like idiots.
‘Ambitious little dreamers, aren’t you.’
I went straight to the trash can nearby and tossed the letter and the ink inside. I did it with a bright smile, so the girls stood frozen in shock.
“You… you… what…?”
“Sorry, Lady Freya told me not to accept things like this.”
After the Sally incident wrapped up, Freya had told me exactly that—reject anyone who tried to butter her up. I agreed, and she had given me a small, satisfied smile.
Remembering her words, I told the fawning quartet proudly:
“Lady Freya doesn’t like receiving things like these. Sorry.”
I wasn’t sorry at all—but I turned on my angelic smile.
The four extras looked utterly dumbfounded, but they couldn’t show their anger. Grinding their teeth, they bowed stiffly and walked away.
I tucked the three crème brûlées into my bag and headed to Freya’s tea spot.
‘Hey, they gifted them—so I can use them however I want.’
Freya loves sweets.
