Chapter : 06
She had prepared the flowers Rosetta liked in lavish abundance—perhaps simply because they were pretty.
But the way the entire room had been decorated—not too bright, yet not overly antique, striking a balance between cheerful and refined—was…
‘That’s not something you achieve by accident.’
If the general atmosphere of the Solarium estate had been similar to this bedroom, she might have assumed it was simply a matter of consistency.
However, after changing out of her day dress and touring the mansion under Madam Cyril’s guidance, Rosetta realized she had been mistaken.
A grand mansion—profoundly antique, elegant, and steeped in the long history of the Empire.
That was the Solarium.
Just once—when she had entered the imperial palace for her debutante ball—had she ever seen anything she considered more magnificent, and even then, the Solarium felt comparable.
So she understood immediately.
Her room had been decorated this way because he had given special orders.
“I’m grateful. I never imagined I’d be given such a beautiful room.”
“You never imagined?”
Sol Rique repeated her words, and the corners of his eyes twitched—so fleeting a change that Rosetta failed to notice.
Instead, she whispered, “Oh—cold,” when a drop of water fell onto her cheek. It had fallen from Sol Rique’s damp hair.
‘Why is it so cold? Did he wash in cold water?’
Startled, she wiped her cheek. Sol Rique, rising slightly above her, brushed his wet bangs back.
“From this moment on, I’ll be leaving marks on various parts of your body. Please don’t refuse.”
“…Why?”
“Hm?”
“Why are you asking for permission? You came here to consummate the marriage anyway.”
“So you’re saying it’s fine for anyone to touch your body as they please?”
“Of course not! But you… oh!”
Rosetta, about to say You’re my husband, flinched when he flicked the tip of her nose with his finger. As she let out a small yelp, Sol Rique let out a brief laugh and added,
“We only become newlyweds once we make it through this night. That’s why I’m asking in advance. Even if you say it hurts, I won’t be gentle.”
Covering her nose from the sting, Rosetta suddenly had a sinking feeling—an ominous premonition that making it through this night safely might be very difficult indeed.
