~Chapter 01~
1. Choose the action you should NOT take when you transmigrate into another world.
If you wake up and feel like you’ve been kidnapped to a strange place, there are three things you should do:
First, assess the situation.
Second, comply with the kidnapper’s instructions and avoid drawing attention.
Third, don’t give up—hold onto hope that you’ll be rescued.
“…My name is Sonnet Eduke?”
“That is correct, my lady.”
Having just woken up, I completed step one and moved on to step two.
In other words, I chose not to provoke the woman who burst into tears and started calling for a doctor the moment I opened my eyes.
That outfit—like something straight out of a Western-themed maid café. She had to be insane.
Looking around, it seemed she was deeply committed to the concept. The room itself was decorated like a noble’s chamber from the Western Renaissance.
I wasn’t completely sure, though—I didn’t know much about that kind of thing.
“My lady, are you alright?”
“My lady!”
It seemed I had been kidnapped by a group obsessed with Renaissance roleplay.
Servants seriously calling me “my lady,” the dress I was wearing, and my striking red hair—whether dyed or a wig, I couldn’t tell—made the whole situation feel absurdly real.
“Are you in pain anywhere?”
“We should prepare a meal first! She hasn’t eaten in so long!”
The people surrounding me were asking questions in earnest, but I had to decide how to respond.
In the end, I chose to pretend I had amnesia.
They seemed crazy enough that if I didn’t play along, I might actually get killed.
“Sorry, but I can’t remember anything right now.”
“…What?!”
And that’s how things ended up like this.
When I asked my name and heard “Sonnet Eduke,” I couldn’t help but frown.
“Sonnet Eduke?”
“Yes.”
Of course I reacted that way.
“Sonnet” was the player name I used in the game Lady Maker.
And “Eduke” was the default surname provided by the game.
Were these lunatics stalking me?
Even as I thought that, a ridiculous possibility began to form in the back of my mind.
“Could you bring me a mirror? A hand mirror is fine.”
“Of course.”
I took the mirror from the vanity and looked at my reflection—
—and froze in shock.
Long, wavy red hair. Bright green eyes like fresh sprouts. A beautiful, cat-like face stared back at me.
Even though it felt completely natural, the vivid green eyes and hair that seemed rooted in my scalp made me think of one thing:
Possession.
As absurd as it sounded… if I had really possessed this body, then where was I?
“Wait a second.”
“My lady?”
I jumped up and walked straight to the window, throwing it open.
What spread out before me was a garden that looked exactly like the illustrations from the game.
This was way too elaborate to be some kind of prank.
And so, the name slipped out of my mouth.
“…Lady Maker?”
At that moment, a system window appeared before my eyes.
[Player ‘Sonnet Eduke’ confirmed.]
[Initializing system.]
[Welcome, Player!]
[Tutorial quest begins.]
It looked almost identical to the system interface from the game I used to play.
Startled, I took a step back, and the maid who had followed me looked at me with concern.
“My lady, are you alright? You’re still recovering…”
“It would be best if you rested more.”
“I’m fine.”
[If you achieve the Happy Ending, you will obtain clues on how to return to your original world.]
[Good luck.]
A way to return?
I tried asking the system questions in my head, but it didn’t respond.
What was I supposed to do with that?
I glared at the floating window.
“My lady?”
I took a small breath and turned back to the doctor and maid.
No—calm down.
If this really was the world of the game I played, then gathering information came first.
What time period was this? How much matched what I knew?
“I think… I’m starting to remember things. Could you help me confirm?”
If so, my knowledge would definitely be useful.
I used the servants to gather basic information while figuring out how to operate the system window.
Thankfully, it seemed I could control it with my will.
The tutorial quest was identical to the one in the game.
[Tutorial Quest]
[1. Go meet your younger sibling!]
[2. Check the family’s finances!]
[Quest]
[(No active quests)]
So this really was the starting point of the game.
As soon as I confirmed that, I said I wanted to see my younger sibling.
“I want to check if she’s doing well.”
“You mean Miss Mabel?”
“Yes. There have been a lot of incidents lately. I’m worried.”
Mabel Eduke.
The second daughter of the Eduke family—and the girl the player must raise in Lady Maker.
The protagonist.
Depending on how you raise her, she can reach various endings.
She had a gentle, puppy-like face, soft pink hair, and the same green eyes as Sonnet.
She was also my favorite character.
“My lady, your younger sister has arrived.”
“Let her in.”
Seeing her in real life…!
Even in this situation, my heart started pounding.
And the moment I gave permission, the door burst open—
and an angel ran in.
“Big sister!”
“…What is this? An angel?”
“Sister…?”
…Crap. I slipped.
Overwhelmed by seeing my favorite character in real life, I slapped my cheeks lightly and pulled Mabel into a hug.
“Yes, Mabel! I missed you!”
She must have come running the moment she heard, because she jumped straight into my arms.
She had been adorable in illustrations—but in reality, it was overwhelming.
God is dead?
Nietzsche, you were wrong.
God is alive.
Right here, in front of me.
If you disagree, you’re wrong.
“I was worried!”
“Sorry. I was asleep for too long, wasn’t I?”
A message popped up saying the quest was complete.
But I didn’t care about that right now.
There was an angel in front of me.
I talked with Mabel as if I were the real Sonnet.
“You have amnesia? Are you okay?”
“Hmm… I think I’m fine for daily life.”
I wanted to kiss her cheeks immediately, but I held back.
Stay calm.
If I got too carried away, I’d be exposed.
I didn’t know what happened to the real Sonnet, but I couldn’t reveal that I was a transmigrator.
Partly because I didn’t want to be branded a demon and killed—
but more because I didn’t want to make Mabel sad.
Considering the game’s background, she had only lost her parents a few months ago.
And this body had just been bedridden with a fever for weeks.
She must already be emotionally exhausted.
I couldn’t burden her further.
…Well, maybe
