Chapter – 72
A Small Lesson
The huge suite was in complete disarray, as if it had been ransacked.
The pristine white carpet was covered with shards. Expensive cosmetics had all been swept onto the floor. Pillows and bedding were scattered everywhere.
Anything that could be smashed had been smashed to pieces, making one imagine what kind of fierce battle had just taken place here.
And the person who caused all this destruction was now sitting on the cold floor.
An Yao’s eyes were bloodshot. Her eyeliner had smeared from crying, and the twisted expression on her face could not hide her hatred. Mu Wanwan’s provocative words kept echoing in her ears.
Mu Wanwan, you won’t always be this lucky. You won’t.
Suddenly, the phone lying on the ground lit up and began to vibrate.
Seeing the unfamiliar number, An Yao hastily wiped away her tears, steadied her emotions, and answered the call.
“Have you cleaned everything up?”
The person on the other end paused briefly. A man’s hoarse voice, like sandpaper scraping, sounded cold.
“Don’t worry, Miss. Everything has been handled.”
“I understand. I’ll deal with the rest myself.”
“You’re not sleepy?”
“I’m not,” she said, though heaven knew how sleepy she was—especially after taking the pills; her eyelids were barely staying open.
“Well, I am.” Lu Li walked straight toward the bedroom.
“What do you know?” An Yao snorted coldly. “If something really happened to Mu Wanwan here, Lu Li would definitely suspect me. With his methods, he’d quickly find out I was behind it. Even if Mu Wanwan died, he still wouldn’t be with me. This time is just a small lesson for her. I’ll spare her once.”
At that moment, a man’s voice came again from the phone, gloomy and low:
“Miss, why didn’t you just get rid of Mu Wanwan in one go? And even had the doctor treat her?”
“Has the doctor been dealt with?” An Yao stood up, stepping carefully around the sharp fragments and walked into the bathroom.
“If you still don’t know your place and stay by Lu Li’s side, next time it won’t be this simple.”
An Yao curled her lips in satisfaction.
She hung up and tossed the phone onto the sink. Seeing her smudged makeup in the mirror, she frowned and picked up makeup remover.
You’ll never guess I had someone smear medicine on the rim of your juice glass. The mango allergy was just a cover.
Meanwhile
After finishing dinner, Mu Wanwan still had a difficult problem unsolved.
There was only one bed in the room.
Just thinking about it gave her a headache.
Lu Li walked out of the bedroom and saw Mu Wanwan sitting uneasily. He smiled teasingly.
“Still not sleepy?”
She immediately retreated to the head of the bed, watching him cautiously.
“I’ll sleep on the sofa outside. The bed is yours.”
Lu Li crossed his arms and chuckled at her guarded expression.
“Mu Wanwan, what impure things are you imagining in that little head of yours?”
Mu Wanwan’s face flushed. She replied vaguely,
“I’m not imagining anything. I don’t want to talk to you. I’m going to sleep on the sofa.”
She jumped off the bed and hurried to escape the subtly awkward atmosphere.
