Chapter – 58
This Heart Has Gone Too Far
Fu Dong watched the two people across from him whispering to each other and raised an eyebrow.
It seemed there were still many things he didn’t know.
Interesting.
“From the way you’re talking, are you very close with my cousin?” he asked.
Qiao Le rolled her eyes—“very close” didn’t even begin to cover it.
“Don’t just stay quiet. Tell me how you know each other,” Fu Dong urged.
Qiao Le picked up the menu again. “Wanwan, you go first.”
Mu Wanwan met Fu Dong’s curious gaze, hesitated for a moment, and then slowly said, “We go to the same school.”
Fu Dong asked, “So you’re friends?”
Lu Li frowned, grabbed the menu, scanned it briefly, and decisively ticked off a few dishes with the efficiency of signing some official document. His cold voice carried a hint of thinly veiled anger.
Fu Dong stood up. “This table is too small. Let’s go to a private room upstairs.”
“Mu Wanwan, are you still playing dumb?” he said, restraining the sour feeling rising in his chest. “You just said I’m your friend.”
“We came here for lunch. Since we’ve all met here, why not eat together?” An Yao suggested softly.
“Zi Qing, you and An Yao decide what else to order.” Huo Zheng noticed Lu Zi Qing staring at Mu Wanwan, seemingly worried she might cause trouble, and quickly diverted her attention.
Creepy!
“Cousin, what a coincidence, you’re eating here too.” Lu Zi Qing saw Lu Li’s expression darken and a hint of triumph flash in his eyes.
Mu Wanwan rolled her eyes at him and took the chance to slip out from his arm. “You say it is, then it is. I haven’t settled the matter of you drawing on me yet. If you make me angry, no amount of stew will fix it.”
He looked up at Huo Zheng, who subtly nodded at him.
Lu Li nearly blurted out “No,” but lowered his head slightly, his dark eyes full of her delicate features.
Mu Wanwan pursed her red lips. “I guess so.”
It felt like bungee jumping in an icy wasteland.
Finally, they entered the private room. Everyone immediately turned to watch them.
Fu Dong led the way upstairs toward his usual private room, while Qiao Le, unable to handle the oppressive aura around Lu Li, ran ahead.
Mu Wanwan “….”
Lu Li deliberately slowed his pace to walk beside her. “Mu Wanwan, about what you said earlier… don’t you want to explain it to me?”
Now she really wanted to see how Mu Wanwan would explain herself to her brother.
No wonder Zi Qing had been insisting they eat here—it was because of this.
“What’s going on between my cousin and Wanwan?”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
That calmness—perfect!
Even listening to Lu Li’s voice made her feel uneasy.
Qiao Le stayed silent and just looked at Mu Wanwan.
Pfft.
He also stopped. “Shouldn’t I be angry?”
Mu Wanwan paused in her steps, lifted her head, clearly seeing the anger in his eyes, and suddenly wanted to laugh. “You’re angry?”
Fu Dong noticed Mu Wanwan remaining silent and asked, “Wanwan, aren’t you going to order?”
She lowered her eyelids, hiding the flicker of panic in her eyes.
“Why are you all here?” Fu Dong scanned them and sensed something off between Lu Li and Mu Wanwan. He suppressed his doubts and casually asked.
“Anything’s fine.” Mu Wanwan avoided a certain person’s gaze as she replied.
Knowing now wasn’t the right time to dig, he also temporarily set aside his curiosity, picked up the menu, and handed it to Qiao Le to break the awkward silence.
“….”
Lu Li caught the fleeting smile in her eyes. The gloom in his own eyes instantly dissipated, and he smiled faintly.
Fu Dong watched the interaction between Mu Wanwan and Lu Li with interest. Under the table, he took out his phone and sent a message to Huo Zheng.
Huo Zheng silenced his phone, quickly typed a reply: “You’re the only one who sees it this way. Mu Wanwan is the person in Lu Li’s heart. So, don’t even think about her.”
Seeing Huo Zheng’s message, Fu Dong felt struck by lightning.
Qiao Le snorted and muttered softly, “Right, not by accident, it’s deliberate.”
Mu Wanwan, caught off guard, stumbled slightly. Lu Li quickly caught her and shot a cold glare at Lu Zi Qing, his deep voice tinged with warning: “Zi Qing.”
When did Fu Dong even get involved with Mu Wanwan?
“Aren’t we just friends now?” Mu Wanwan asked calmly in return.
Eating with An Yao and Lu Zi Qing at the same table made Qiao Le lose her appetite, so she just ticked a couple of dishes and handed the menu to Huo Zheng.
“Why?” Mu Wanwan whispered.
Friends, huh?
“Order quickly, I’m starving.”
The last words sounded like the petty words of children sulking.
Before the words fell, the voice of the person they had been talking about suddenly erupted behind Mu Wanwan, right in her ear.
A very cold joke.
Huo Zheng glanced at Lu Zi Qing, then finally looked at Fu Dong’s table and understood everything at once.
Lu Zi Qing took the menu and discussed the dishes with An Yao.
Fu Dong had a bunch of question marks over his head, unable to make sense of it all.
“Brother, I didn’t do it on purpose,” Lu Zi Qing said, feeling wronged.
“I’m fine with it.” Fu Dong looked at Mu Wanwan and Lu Li. “Wanwan, Qiao Le, you two decide.”
An Yao looked at Mu Wanwan sitting next to Lu Li, feeling it was glaringly obvious, but still pretended not to care.
“Brother, there’s space here.” Lu Zi Qing saw Lu Li and Mu Wanwan enter together, went over, nudged Mu Wanwan aside, and stood between them.
This world is way too small.
“You just order.”
A hint of teasing lingered in her tone.
Hearing that, it was infuriating.
Qiao Le twitched at the corner of her mouth and secretly gave Mu Wanwan a thumbs up.
Mu Wanwan: “Explain what?”
“Deliberately asking?”
“They’ve gone upstairs.” She changed the topic.
“Mu Wanwan, are you sure you’re just friends?”
Bumping into someone in front of others… wasn’t that intentional? Are their eyes on the bottom of their feet? Ridiculous.
“We’re friends. In your mind, this is the kind of relationship we have, right?” If she didn’t understand, he might as well say it plainly.
If they were just ordinary friends, fine. If not, someone’s jealousy would explode, and it would be a storm.
Think he’s easy to mess with?
[At home, the little Bao nibbling on fish suddenly sneezed. Meow. Who’s thinking about me?]
Lu Li was frustrated and couldn’t let her escape. “Right?”
“Mu Wanwan, are you just taking advantage of me being easy to bully?”
Lu Li pulled out a chair for Mu Wanwan with a cold face, then sat right next to her without hesitation.
Huo Zheng sat on his right, casually glancing at the dishes he ordered, a teasing smile curling on his lips.
Tsk, he remembered all these dishes were someone’s favorites.
This heart—completely biased.
No limits at all..
