Chapter – 67
I Used to Sleep in a Shell
The two of them struggled to carry the wild boar back. The rabbit and fish were placed in the basket.
The ones responsible for digging had almost finished the cave.
They had even started repairing the pond.
When Feng Hao saw them return so quickly, he was a little surprised. “Back already? And you even brought back such a big boar!”
As he spoke, he looked into the basket and saw a rabbit and several fish.
He hadn’t expected that this “dead merman” would actually be somewhat useful.
Chi Lin, however, noticed something wrong. “Why are the two of you carrying it together?”
A red fox’s strength wasn’t particularly great, but carrying a three- to four-hundred-jin wild boar should still be more than manageable.
This merman couldn’t even manage that much strength and needed Qingqing to help?
Xiao Ziye immediately burst out laughing. “Hahaha, are you that weak? You actually needed Qingqing to help you carry it?”
Bai Yuan suddenly spoke in a sweet, affected tone, “If I had gone with Qingqing, I definitely wouldn’t have let her carry anything.”
The key point was that the basket was also on Li Qingqing’s back.
Ling Mo, on the other hand, was curious. “If you can’t even carry a wild boar, how did you hunt these?”
Li Qingqing glanced at Su Han. Seeing that his confidence had completely disappeared, she decided to speak up for him.
“Who says you need to be strong to hunt? He just hasn’t adapted to land life yet.”
“He’ll be a member of the Silver Tiger Tribe from now on. I hope you can all get along peacefully, okay~?” She widened her eyes and acted cute.
It was the first time they had seen Li Qingqing like this. Blushing, they all looked away without saying anything.
Li Qingqing didn’t bother with them further and reassigned tasks.
She pointed at the boar, rabbit, and fish. “Ling Mo, help me process the meat. The rest of you continue working on the cave.”
Ling Mo nodded.
He had become independent early and had to take care of his younger siblings. Though still young, he was practically like a father, so he was very skilled at this kind of work.
He took out a stone knife and cut open the wild boar’s blood vessels, letting it bleed for quite a while.
If it were before, Li Qingqing would have found the smell of blood unbearable. But now, her beastly instincts made her swallow unconsciously.
Next, he neatly removed the entire boar hide and set it aside.
“This one’s not bad. After processing it, it can be laid on the stone bed!” Ling Mo seemed quite satisfied with his work.
He had just been about to say he could clean it up nicely for Li Qingqing to use—
When Li Qingqing said, “Perfect, we can put it on Su Han’s stone bed!”
“Oh right, Su Han doesn’t have a stone bed yet. We still need to make one!”
Hearing her words, Ling Mo felt like he was about to grind his teeth to pieces.
Earlier, he had been the one among the five who had the least hostility toward Su Han and didn’t think bringing him back was a problem.
Now only two words remained in his mind: regret.
Su Han had been looking listless the entire time, just watching the two of them work.
Li Qingqing first washed the prepared meat with clean water, then cut it into small pieces with a stone knife.
She stir-fried it in a pot, added salt and chili, and it was ready.
She had made this spicy fried pork many times already and was very skilled at it.
On the other side, Ling Mo was scaling the fish.
He scraped one, and Li Qingqing took it, cleaned it thoroughly, and put it into hot oil.
Two fish could fit in one pot at a time. This batch would be fish soup.
First, she fried both sides until golden, then added water, covered the pot, and waited until the soup turned milky white before taking it out.
She made two more spicy fish dishes. These were also fried first, but instead of simmering, she added lots and lots of chili and stir-fried them.
Then they were ready.
Three fish remained, which she used for sweet-and-sour fish and steamed fish.
There was no sugar, so she used honey instead.
The steamed fish was simple: add some water, place the fish in a stone bowl, put the bowl into the pot, and add some scallion segments.
After waiting twenty minutes, it was done.
The beastmen working hard inside the cave smelled the aroma and rushed out. Seeing the food in the stone bowls, they couldn’t help swallowing.
Li Qingqing noticed them. “No sneaking bites yet! Finish your work first!”
Besides, she hadn’t made the final dish yet.
After Ling Mo finished preparing the rabbit, he handed it to her.
She planned to make mala rabbit—extra spicy. Unfortunately, she hadn’t found any Sichuan peppercorns. She wondered if the flavor would suffer because of it.
Before long, the spicy rabbit was ready.
The beastmen inside the cave worked like mad to finish repairing the pond faster so they could eat Li Qingqing’s cooking sooner. They practically used two hands like four and finally finished.
When they came out, they were covered in mud.
Li Qingqing pointed toward the river. “Go wash your hands and then come eat!”
The moment they heard “eat,” their eyes lit up. They hurried to the river to wash up.
Meanwhile, Li Qingqing portioned the stir-fried pork into each person’s bowl.
As for the fish, there were enough and prepared in different ways, so everyone could choose what they wanted.
The spicy rabbit wasn’t easy to divide. A rabbit was small to begin with, and there was only one rabbit head—the best part.
Whoever she gave it to might accuse her of favoritism.
So she simply put it into her own bowl.
Soon, the four returned clean.
“My stir-fried pork!” Feng Hao practically flew over.
Without caring about his image, he grabbed a bowl and began eating heartily.
Bai Yuan’s eyes were fixed on the plates of fish. He had never eaten fish made by Li Qingqing before.
There were so many varieties that he didn’t even know which to try first.
Li Qingqing served each of them a bowl of fish soup first. “Try it! The fish soup is really delicious!”
Everyone began drinking—except Su Han.
He didn’t know what he was thinking about and looked very downcast.
Li Qingqing placed a bowl of fish soup in his hands. “Try it. It’s really good!”
Su Han took a sip, and his eyes instantly lit up.
All the unhappiness he had been thinking about vanished.
“How is this so delicious?”
He took another big gulp.
He had never imagined fish could be eaten like this. In the past, he had always eaten it raw.
Xiao Ziye was completely mesmerized by the feast before him. Rarely silent, he now just buried his head in eating.
He suddenly picked up a piece of spicy rabbit, took a big bite—and immediately choked from the heat, tears springing to his eyes. He rushed back to the river to drink water.
[Host, Su Han’s favorability hasn’t changed much~ Suggest trying another approach.]
The system’s words struck Li Qingqing like a bolt from the blue. What did it mean it hadn’t changed much?
She had even used food temptation!
“Su Han, go take a look at your new cave first!” she said, pulling him inside without waiting for an answer.
“So? How is it different from where you used to live?”
Su Han carefully looked around at the surroundings and thought for a moment.
“I used to sleep inside a very large shell. This place is a bit uglier than where I used to live.”
