Chapter 07:
A few days later, a priest came to see me.
Wow… he’s incredibly handsome.
Look at that refined, elegant face.
And I thought priests would be old—but he’s young!
I stared at him blankly until Lucas cleared his throat, snapping me back to my senses.
“She keeps fainting and saying strange things. Calls it prophecy or whatever—please take a look.”
Lucas said he had something urgent and left without even watching the priest bow.
It’s awkward being alone with someone I just met… he could’ve stayed a bit longer.
Well… actually, this is nice.
His deep emerald eyes, softly curled light brown hair, and calm, delicate expression matched perfectly with his white priest robes, giving off a sacred aura.
“Your Highness, I will place my hand for a moment.”
After observing me, he smiled gently and placed his hand on my shoulder.
“Hm? What are you doing?”
“It seems your divine power is concentrated in your shoulders.”
“Oh, that’s normal.”
“…Pardon?”
“Ah, nothing. Please continue.”
I looked at his sincere, upright face and asked,
“By the way, what’s your name?”
“Lurbihi.”
“Lurbihi? Wow, that sounds like I might start yodeling if I say it wrong.”
“…Pardon?”
“I’m just joking because I’m nervous. Don’t mind me.”
He then touched my forehead, and in that moment, I felt a cool breeze pass through me.
Like being surrounded by the vast nature of Switzerland…
“Have you been having difficulty controlling it?”
“Yes—how did you know?”
“The nature of divine power differs, but in the beginning, most people struggle in similar ways. You must learn to control it—only using it when you dream, when you seek foresight, or when something urgent happens.”
We usually say a spirit has “possessed” someone, but like me, he described controlling that power so it doesn’t run wild at random.
“Can that be done without rituals?”
“I don’t know what a ritual is, but yes, it’s possible.”
“Oh, then please teach me.”
“I came today only to assess your condition, so it’s difficult to do it here. If you come regularly to the temple, pray, and undergo purification, you will soon be able to control it yourself.”
I was happy to finally have something to do in this boring palace life.
And I’d get to see this handsome man often too.
Sure, learning control was important—but two birds with one stone is always nice.
“That sounds great. I was bored anyway, so I’ll come often.”
“You don’t need to come often. Once a week will be enough.”
“Oh, I see. But… why are you crying?”
“…Pardon?”
Lurbihi froze mid-motion as he lifted his hand from my forehead.
“I keep seeing you crying. Are you deeply hurt? Is it because of your mother?”
The priest, who had been perfectly composed until now, suddenly trembled slightly.
“What… are you saying?”
“Strangely… I feel like crying too.”
When I was young, I had seen my mother cry when she resonated deeply with a client’s emotions.
She said it happened when their “frequencies matched,” or when someone carried deep pain.
And now, I realized—I was experiencing that.
I saw him crying, sorrowfully burying something in the ground with trembling hands, under the rain.
The scene made my chest ache.
In the end, I couldn’t hold back. I buried my face in my hands and sobbed.
His pain and sorrow flowed directly into me.
The face of the dead person flashing past, and his desperate crying—it felt like my own pain from a past life.
As I cried, I felt his gentle hand rest on my forehead again.
“Your Highness, please stop crying and close your eyes.”
His voice was soft and cool like a breeze.
My consciousness slowly faded.
.
.
.
Gasp!
I shot upright in bed.
How many times has this happened now? Did I faint again?
But something felt different this time.
My mind felt… empty.
I couldn’t feel the divine power at all.
What is this…?
Then I noticed someone holding onto my sleeve and turned my head.
The priest was asleep beside the bed, leaning over.
I was startled. Why hadn’t he left yet?
I gently touched his shoulder.
“Um… Lurbihi…”
“Ah.”
He straightened up and slowly opened his long lashes, meeting my gaze.
It felt like I was being pulled into a deep, blue-green ocean.
He looked at me carefully and asked,
“How do you feel?”
“I’m fine… actually, I feel great. But why does my head feel so light?”
His expression was calm, unreadable.
“Your karma has been temporarily alleviated.”
“Karma?”
“Yes. It is the burden every human carries through their lives.”
“Namaste!”
“…Your Highness, did you see my past?”
Though his voice and expression were calm, his eyes looked lonely and sad.
I hesitated.
“I think… I did.”
“No one has ever looked into me like that before.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
“I apologize, but…”
I quickly interrupted him, sensing what he was about to say.
“I know what you’re going to say. For each other’s sake, we know nothing. Right?”
“….”
Lurbihi quietly stood up.
“That is exactly what I wished to say. Please rest well. I will see you at the temple next week.”
He gave me a short piece of advice, smiled, bowed, and left the room.
***
Before leaving, Lurbihi briefly taught me how to control my power.
It involved meditation—separating myself from the divine energy.
I couldn’t fully control it yet, but at least I wouldn’t lose consciousness like before.
However, he warned that if I was too stressed or unwell, even meditation might fail—so I needed to be careful until I could visit the temple.
And unfortunately, my biggest source of stress right now was Rosa.
Just as I had predicted, she boarded a large ship with red lettering to cross the strait.
But because of the strong fish smell on the ship, she kept vomiting and had to get off midway.
She ended up being delayed and couldn’t return on time.
“Morning sickness. Unni, you’re pregnant.”
I said lazily while sitting on the sofa, looking at my nails.
Rosa snorted.
“No way! You can’t get stars without looking at the sky!”
I turned around in shock.
“You’ve been married this long—and… wait, don’t tell me… not even once?”
Rosa cleared her throat and put her hands on her hips.
“That’s not it. Gus has just been busy—and he’s not very passionate.”
“So you did! Then it’s definitely a baby!”
“Ugh! What am I supposed to do if I’m pregnant right now?”
“What do you mean? Just have the baby.”
Rosa ran her hand over her slim waist, annoyed.
“With this body? This face? I’ll age overnight! I wanted to enjoy my newlywed life first!”
“Unni, even after having a baby, you’ll still be beautiful. You’re the prettiest person I’ve seen in this world.”
“R-really?”
Her expression softened, dimples appearing as she smiled.
I leaned back on the sofa and waved my hand.
“Yeah, really. So now can you stop bothering me and go home? I want to rest.”
But Rosa walked up to me again and started nagging.
“You think this is the time to rest? As soon as I got back, I heard about Adrian and my blood pressure shot up! How can you let that go after being treated like that?”
Huh? Isn’t nagging me your whole personality? What’s with this sudden concern?
“What do you mean ‘let it go’? I broke off the engagement because I didn’t like him.”
“You expect me to believe that? You were crying and clinging to him not long ago!”
“Crying and clinging…? I did that?”
“Now is not the time to sit around like this.”
“Then what should I be doing?”
“You need a strategy.”
“A strategy? Like… winning Adrian back?”
Seriously? Is this some cliché drama?
Rosa stared ahead confidently.
“What are you saying? You should meet a better man and make him regret it. That’s revenge. Gus has plenty of handsome and impressive friends. Starting tomorrow, you’re going on blind dates.”
What?! Unni, stress makes me lose control of my powers—please!
“What kind of princess goes on blind dates? And I prefer natural relationships.”
“What’s that? A new religion?”
“….”
“Anyway, stop with those useless prophecies and start meeting men. We’ll get you new dresses too.”
“Useless?! You’re the one who didn’t listen and got delayed! Unni, wait—listen to me! I’m not doing it!”
Rosa ignored me, walked to the door, and opened it.
“I’m leaving!”
Bang!
Everyone in this family is so stubborn.
No wonder Giselle used to be so timid.
I shook my head and sank into the sofa.
But… maybe Rosa is right.
Now that the engagement with Adrian is over, maybe I should just meet people and enjoy my prime.
