After Theodor left, the Guild Master ended up saying, “Sorry, but I’ll leave the rest to you,” to Lill and the others soon after, and then he also left the guild.
I sat down in the reception chair, took out the sandwich the innkeeper’s wife had given me, and took a bite.
Yay, there’s lots of ham in it today.
I’ve noticed this several times now after praying for soldiers, the fire dragon, and other people; when I concentrate on praying for something, it makes me really tired and hungry.
When I was praying at the Grand Temple, from morning till night I would just mutter prayers for people I didn’t even know, facing a wall. I was in a constant state of hunger, so my head felt fuzzy, I didn’t really know what I was doing anymore, and I didn’t really feel the tiredness as much…
But when I consciously pray for specific people, with the actual person right in front of me, the amount of power used in an instant is huge and it’s exhausting…
Also, after leaving the temple, I’ve gotten used to a normal state of eating lots of delicious food, being full of energy! So now, after praying, I feel the contrast with that energetic state even more strongly and feel extra tired.
“So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?” Lill asked me.
“Um, I’m having lunch with Stefan and Raiga, and then Stefan is going to teach me how to ride a horse.”
“Ah, that merchant’s horse. So you didn’t sell it after all.”
That’s right. As a reward for bringing Temz back, I received not just Temz’s cloth but also two horses.
Stefan and Raiga were discussing whether we should sell them too, but in the end, they decided it might be useful to keep them for a while.
“We named them Chai and Kuro.”
“Because one is brown and the other is black?”
“Correct.”
“I thought so.”
Lill smiled and said, “Straightforward and cute names.”
I’d seen horses from a distance at the Grand Temple when nobles came riding in, but it was my first time seeing one up close. I was staring intently when Stefan told me, “Horses are friends to people.”
He said, “It’s convenient if you can ride them, and they can carry your luggage. They’re indispensable for traveling long distances.”
So he offered to teach me how to ride, and I decided to take him up on his offer.
Because riding and running on one looks really fun.
“You’re keeping busy,” Lill said, so I laughed and replied, “Yes, I am.”
“Hey, you were at the guild since morning. Good work.”
When I returned to the inn, Stefan waved at me from the dining hall.
It seems that with the money from selling Temz’s cloth, the two of them are taking a break from work for a while.
“I’m impressed you can get up so early. I could sleep forever…”
Raiga, in his wolf form, lifted his body, which had been slumped lazily against the table, his eyes bleary. It seems he relaxes in his wolf form inside the inn. Raiga says he feels more at ease in his wolf form than in his human one.
“Raiga… your fur’s all messed up.”
Probably from having his face buried in the table, the fur on half of his body was all flattened in the same direction. I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
