Chapter 6
Princess Shiran was walking in the garden.
Her golden hair was neatly tied, and she was quietly looking at the flowers with her blue eyes.
She was simply staring at them with a calm expression, when she suddenly raised her head and looked ahead.
Her maid, Lea, was approaching while holding a letter.
âYour Highness.â
âI told you not to disturb me. If this is something trivial, youâll be punished.â
âItâs a letter from Lady Roel.â
âCelia?â
âWould I come for something unimportant?â
Shiran quickly walked toward her maid.
The letter she had been waiting for had finally arrived.
She wondered what it would say.
She opened it.
Celia wrote that she was doing well. She was even bragging that her fiancé was handsome.
âJust how handsome is he that sheâs writing about it in a letter?â
There was no complaint in the letter.
Even though a dukeâs daughter had become engaged to a baronâs son, Celia only wrote good things, just like always.
âThatâs Celiaâs strengthâŠâ
Shiran frowned slightly.
If she were in Celiaâs place, she would have resented her father.
Then she looked at the end of the letter.
It asked if she could come to a party at her house.
âA cake party?â
Shiran had felt sad when Celia said she couldnât hold one before.
Celia, who was two years younger than her, had always been careful about her familyâs situation.
It was shocking that her family had fallen so much that she couldnât even hold a simple cake party.
And in the end, the Duke had sold off his eldest daughter for business.
Shiran didnât like the Duke of Roel at all.
For now, she needed to write a reply.
She quickly returned to her room and sat at her desk.
Inside the drawer was scented letter paper.
âBig sister.â
At that moment, Crown Prince Majin entered and slowly walked toward her.
âWhat is it?â
âI need some letter paper. Iâm sending a letter to a lady, so stiff paper wouldnât be suitable.â
Majin said with a smile. He was 20 years old, the same age as Celia.
âAre you sending it to Celia?â
Shiran had a feeling.
Celia must have sent him a letter too.
To be honest, Shiran had secretly hoped Celia and her brother would end up together.
âYes. A cake party at the Pellis familyâŠâ
Majin looked very happy.
âFinally, a party not held in the imperial palace.â
âAre you going?â
Majin answered as if it was obvious.
âOf course. Iâm curious about Celiaâs fiancĂ©.â
As he said that, he looked at Shiranâs letter.
âEven if they are rich, itâs not easy to grant a baron title.â
âThatâs true.â
âThey say the Pellis family paid all the costs for the large road construction project this time. As a reward, Father granted them the title.â
âThe Pellis family has contributed a lot of money to the country.â
âIn the end, Father chose to support that family.â
Majin shrugged.
âAnd after seeing their heir get engaged to Celia, he said we should meet him in person.â
âHis Majesty said that?â
âHe probably wants to judge his character. If he has the ability to lead such a wealthy family, we should get close. If heâs arrogant, we should stay away.â
âIf Celia invited him to introduce him to us, then his personality shouldnât be bad.â
At Shiranâs words, Majin nodded.
âI think so too.â
âIf he had a bad personality, she would have told us in advance.â
âProbably.â
Majin thought about the Celia he knew.
She would have already guessed that the imperial family was interested in the Pellis family.
âShe probably sent the letter knowing that the palace is watching them.â
He picked a pink letter paper.
âWhat a pity.â
âWhat is?â
âWe missed the chance to have a future Crown Princess.â
Shiran burst into laughter.
âYou said you werenât interested.â
âNow that sheâs engaged, I became interested.â
His honesty made Shiran glare at him.
âBut now, I suppose we should just remain friends.â
Majin thought about how enjoyable it was to spend time with Celia.
Since he was already there, he stayed in Shiranâs room and wrote his letter.
He also added that he would happily attend the cake party if invited.
Preparations for the party were going well.
But I told Raiden that I would prepare something special for the cake, so we hadnât made one yet.
âArtern.â
During dinner, I spoke to him.
Artern smiled and looked at me.
âWhat is it?â
âFor the cake party, I think it would be best to buy the whipped cream cake from a place I usually go to.â
âYou want to buy the cake from outside?â
Through the letter from the palace, both Majin and Shiran had agreed to attend.
So we needed something special.
âThat shopâs whipped cream cake is special.â
Artern thought for a moment.
âIs our chef not good enough?â
âNo, thatâs not itâŠâ
I quickly explained.
I didnât want the chef to lose his job because of my words.
âTheir Highnesses really like the cake from that shop.â
Artern reacted to that.
âItâs a place our family has worked with before. They often supplied cakes to us for parties. Sometimes I even brought those cakes to the palace, and both of them liked it.â
âI donât usually like desserts⊠but now I want to try it.â
Artern rubbed his chin.
âIâll buy one for you too, Artern.â
After thinking for a moment, he smiled.
âAlright.â
âIf Their Highnesses like it, I want to try it too.â
Raiden looked excited.
Everyone seemed to be looking forward to it.
They wouldnât be disappointed.
That shopâs cake was truly special.
Then suddenly, Artern looked at my clothes with a serious expression.
âCelia, why donât you get matching clothes with Raiden?â
I had already been thinking about it.
I didnât have a proper dress for the party.
I wanted to ask for one.
âI was actually worried about what to wear. I donât have many dresses from the Roel house.â
I didnât hide my familyâs situation.
âHonest, arenât you?â
âItâs better to be honest.â
âHiding it wonât change anything.â
Raiden looked at me with pity.
âIf my clothes look poor, people will talk.â
If the Princess and Crown Prince came and I looked shabby, rumors would spread.
Even the Pellis family could be affected.
âIs there a designer you prefer?â
âThat would be too much. Buying clothes is already very generous⊠and custom clothes take time.â
âThe party clothes aside, I mean everyday clothes. And saying itâs too much⊠that makes me sad.â
I blinked in surprise.
âDoes he mean⊠heâll get me regular clothes too?â
Custom clothes were expensive.
It had been a long time since I had worn such clothes.
My heart fluttered.
âWe are family now. And I donât want my sonâs fiancĂ©e to look shabby.â
He was right.
âThen⊠what kind of designer should we choose?â
I accepted.
âIâll look into it and send you options.â
âThatâs a wise idea.â
âThank you.â
âNo need. We are family now.â
âCelia will be my wife, so this is only natural.â
Artern spoke warmly, and Raiden agreed beside him.
FamilyâŠ
Only until Olize grows up.
When Raiden falls in love with Olize, I will have to step down.
But stillâŠ
âEven if this is a fake family⊠I can live like a real one until then.â
