Part 2 Chapter 83

Bassenberg Castle
Bang!
Angry Edgar slapped David’s cheek hard.
Diana, who was watching, sighed.
‘I knew he would do this.’
Due to the tight deadline, David had gone straight to his estate after returning from Belzer to answer the summon. Today, when he arrived at the estate, he immediately had to face his furious father.
“Why are you doing things I didn’t even ask you to do?!”
David had gone to check on Ryan but had killed Bania instead.
Diana, thinking David was lying to provoke the third prince, never imagined it was true.
‘He really did it… I couldn’t have imagined him doing something so crazy…’
She thought it must be a lie because Bania was part of the royal family.
“You have no idea what you’ve done! You’ve ruined all chances of negotiating with the royal family!”
His father had always maintained a certain distance from the royal family, as they had to remain puppets for the family’s benefit.
The reason why the emperor couldn’t tolerate it anymore was likely because of the medical cartel that tried to wipe out patients.
The royal family should never do something their weak members can’t handle.
David’s killing of Bania, who had become a member of the royal family, was exactly that type of action.
Even more surprising was that the royal wedding between the third prince and Bania, which everyone thought was a political strategy, had ended so terribly.
“Father, didn’t the third prince have a strong bond with Bania? When you provoked him by saying David killed her, he lost his mind…”
Diana told her father what David said, not believing that Bania had really been killed.
After hearing this, her father, who was feeling uneasy, questioned David about the truth of the situation and grew even angrier.
“You told me to investigate what Ryan was hiding, didn’t you? Killing her is the only proof now.”
“Who said such a thing?!” her father yelled.
As father and son argued, Diana sighed again.
Honestly, it was wrong for her father to send David to Ryan in the first place.
“Why was Ryan hiding something?” she wondered.
Her father had even suspected Ryan might have developed special powers late, but that was a foolish mistake.
Her father was acting strangely. He had made a critical error, and now it was all falling apart.
At that moment, someone interrupted.
“Long time no see!”
Elliot, not reading the tense atmosphere, cheerfully greeted them. He noticed the strange tension and looked around.
“What’s going on? Why does it feel so heavy?”
“Richard?” Edgar rubbed his forehead in frustration.
“I’m the only one who came.”
“What?” Edgar sharply looked at him.
“His condition was bad, and I was worried he might faint on the way. So I left him behind.”
“Tch!”
A sharp sigh escaped Edgar as he clenched his teeth. His face showed clear frustration.
“Father, are you angry? Well, consider Richard’s feelings. He must have felt like he was heading to his doom. It’s no surprise if he fainted on the way.”
“…”
Edgar sighed deeply, rubbing his tired face.
Diana, watching everything unfold, felt an ominous feeling.
Why?
David and Elliot, who had always followed their father’s wishes, were now starting to move in their own ways, causing his mind to become disoriented.
Everything felt like it was slightly off.
A tiny crack.
Like a gear that was beginning to malfunction.

Later
“Do you trust Richard, that guy?” Ryan asked, sounding uneasy.
“What if it’s a trap?”
Ryan, dressed in dark assassin gear with knives strapped to his belt, stood on the outskirts, observing the enemy’s movements.
“Who are you talking to? Should I answer?”
Carly, who was with Ryan, responded.
“No need to answer, just thinking out loud.”
Ryan continued, “I’ve been suspicious ever since he didn’t head directly to the palace. And then he knew exactly when the summon would take place.”
It sounded like a trap now.
“We’ll know if it’s a trap by checking it out ourselves. And if it is, we’ll just try again,” Carly replied clearly.
Ryan smiled at her confident response.
Their family motto was “Charge first, think later. If it fails, try again.”
So they stuck to their principles—act first, and if it goes wrong, use a rewind to retry.
The battle was decided the moment there were two holders of the “Time Reversal Scroll.”

“Time to go. Let’s infiltrate,” Ryan said.
They would split up immediately once inside.
Ryan would track down those with special powers, and Carly and I would go look for Krista, who might be isolated.
Her father had been trying to control Krista’s rebellious nature recently.
But I was worried she might not be brought into the meeting with the other power-users.
We approached the heavily guarded Bassenberg castle, and I was uneasy about the thick security.
How would we infiltrate this place?
“Are we really infiltrating here?” I thought.
The soldiers guarding the entrance wore blue shoulder insignias, confirming they were part of the elite Bassenberg guard.
There were thirty soldiers in total, including the captain.
I quickly spotted an old enemy.
Yanis!
I had a deep grudge against him.

The infiltration team moved closer. The plan was to bypass the entrance with the Bassenberg guards, but soon, things took a wild turn.
Yanis stared in shock as Ryan and Carly walked through the main gate openly.
“This is infiltration?” Ryan asked, confused.
The enemies guarding the gate fell without a sound. It was clear now—this was their version of infiltration, and no one noticed.
