Episode 9
Kim Yeohyeon Esper Fanpage
A somewhat dark, small, anonymous site.
Informal speech only.
Lots of old-school internet veterans (basically online fossils from the Paleozoic era), but not exactly a toxic site.
Still, the amount of obsessive fangirling here is well above average, so if you’re new to online communities, we recommend heading somewhere else.
[Title: Reposting the Rules]
Newbies are required to lurk for three months.
Before you post random crap,
Three months of lurking, go go.
And even after those three months, post according to the rules below.
Rule 1. We only praise Yeohyeon. Constructive criticism? No thanks. Rational thinking belongs to real life. Here, we only worship.
Rule 2. We do not get jealous of Yeohyeon’s guide (just please, please, please let their matching rate be high ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ we love you so much, future dedicated guide with a high compatibility score, mwah mwah ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ (waves glow stick passionately //★//★))
Rule 3. Three times a day, face the direction of Yeoksam, pour a bowl of water, and perform a ritual wishing for an A-grade or higher guide with a matching rate above 50%. Until the day our collective prayer becomes reality……
Rule 4. Do not feed the idiots. (Especially those pathetic creatures who sob that “Seo something” is Korea’s #1 Esper — we don’t eat at the same table as them. A clean -18 recommendation for you, lol.)

[Title: Everyone saw this, right?? There was an unselected guide standing in front of Yeohyeon!!!!!!!!!1]
(Photo attached)
Journalists barely managed to snap this shot in Yeohyeon’s parking lot!!
It’s out of focus, but look closely — not a solo shot, right?
My guide radar just went off.
thump thump
ahhh I can feel it beating again.
Hello, my heart??
It’s been so long since I remembered the left side of my chest exists… (anyway, to the point)
Zoom x4
The vibe between those two, my god ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
The height difference alone makes me swoon…
Wow… and that hairstyle?? How did they know exactly what Yeohyeon likes… whether man or woman, they look perfect.
I’m curious what color their hair’s dyed to… anyway, my heart is pounding nonstop.
So, I immediately poured some water, faced the direction of Yeoksam, and prayed with all due reverence.
Then I checked the guide mark on that short-haired person’s padded jacket
Zoom x8
Then zoomed in on the ID card around their neck.
Zoom x64
See there?? It says <<<<Guide>>>>> and <<<<<<<<<<Unselected>>>>>>>>>>> plain as day!!
OMG OMG OMG
Please, it’s been forever since we’ve seen an unselected guide in Korea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Please bless us with a high matching rate, dear unselected one.
Not asking for too much—just over 50%.
I won’t be greedy.
If it goes over the cursed 50% mark, I’ll offer a mountain of tributes—endless, endless tributes!!!!!
ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
The photo’s blurry and they’re wearing thick clothes, so I can’t tell if they’re a handsome boy, a beautiful girl, or what—but please, please, let this guide settle down with Yeohyeon already!! It’s time!!!
Let’s end the wandering life of our potential world #1 Esper and go for the true global top spot!!!!!!!11

1. Adding my spoon and shouting: Ye-men!
└ Ye-men 222
└ Ye-men 3
└ Ye-men 4
└ Ye-men 5555
└ Even after failing every guide draw for over ten years, we Yeohyeon stans are so pitiful T^T Anyway, I also fetched water and prayed. Ye-men 66 from me 8-8 (grits teeth, holds back tears)
└ Tearful Ye-men 7777
└ 8ㅅ8
└ Ye-men 99
2. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ please……
3. No matter how much tribute you offer, you can’t beat a single Yeohyeon black card.
4. Feel bad for the reporters, but please don’t harass Yeohyeon too much—this is basically paparazzi stuff, isn’t it?
└ And yet, you already saved it, didn’t you?
└ Not a stalker shot! It’s cropped from an official reporter photo! And you, nasty commenter! Even after your sharp words, didn’t you find our Hyoni-Hyoni’s nape cute today~? ★ㅎ_< (kyah!)
5. Seriously, how did you zoom in on that tiny blue G logo and figure out it means “unselected guide”? Your eyesight is legendary. Respect.
└ My heart swells with pride for Kim Yeohyeon’s delusional stans—what a class act, I salute you!!!!
6. Honestly, every Korean S-ranker from #1 to #8 except Kim Yeohyeon has already peaked ㅇㅇ. Only Yeohyeon’s left, but rumor says their matching rates are all disasters ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ. The only hope left is that their guide is unselected—only then can we expect decent compatibility. If this draw fails too, I’m scared the awakened class in Asiawill crumble… anyway I’m also wishing for 50%+.
└ You’re not one of those sneaky antis pretending to care while mocking us, right? ㅠㅠ
└ Let’s not fight.
└ No problem, peace and love.
└ Real fan here.
└ ㅇㅇㅋ Let’s toast with the unselected one.
└ Cheers!
└ Cheers!
└ What a wholesome reconciliation scene♡
7. Seriously, all this delusion from one blurry, long-distance photo… So what’s the child’s plan between the short-haired guide and Yeohyeon again??
└ Lol, the photo’s so pixelated you can’t even tell if they’re a guy or a girlㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ what if it’s just a random young boyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ anyway I’m still hoping for one son (guide) and one daughter (esper). Loyalty to Yeohyeon^^7777
└ One of each is the rule^^777
└ Please let us also fangirl over Yeohyeon’s esper daughter someday ^^7777
└ Tall, husky-voiced, cool beauty S-rank type just thinking about it makes me swoon ^^7777
└ There may be breaks from fandom, but never departures. I’ll stay devoted for generations—grandkids, great-grandkids, all of them^^777
└ I too pledge eternal devotion^^77ㅎ
There’s a saying: “Beginner’s luck.”
It means that when someone tries something for the first time—whether gambling or sports—fortune smiles upon them, granting results far better than expected. But only at the start.
Eternal couldn’t help but think that her only private meeting with Kim Yeohyeon had been something like that—beginner’s luck. A fleeting miracle that would never repeat.
“Dear Landlord… where are you…”
It had been three days since that first meeting, which happened just ten minutes after she had started waiting. Since then, Eternal hadn’t caught so much as a glimpse of Kim Yeohyeon’s hair.
During commuting hours, she was ready to throw herself in front of his car at the parking lot entrance if that’s what it took (trusting her S-rank reflexes and motion tracking). She activated every radar she had to try and meet him again.
But it was as if Kim Yeohyeon had turned into a ghost—no trace of him anywhere.
“They say he’s breathing the same air within these five meters of the wall, even the news says so…”
If they were in the same Center headquarters yet had never met, his return to work meant nothing to her.
Even poking around for gossip yielded nothing. Professor Yoon, Yoryeon, everyone—no one had any useful information.
“Does Esper Kim Yeohyeon ever go for walks in the park?”
“In the park? Hmm… I don’t think so.”
“Does he show up at the cafeteria for lunch?”
“Cafeteria? Hmm… no, not really.”
Apparently, he wasn’t the type to appear in public often.
Eternal herself wasn’t exactly a social butterfly, but this was extreme. Staying glued to his office all day? That shouldn’t even be possible.
“Why doesn’t he clock in or out properly? At this rate, that news article about his return to work must be fake.
Seriously, shouldn’t someone fact-check it?”
To this, Yoryeon cautiously replied,
“…He clocks in. He just doesn’t clock out.”
“…”
“He really did return to work. The article’s true.”
So true, in fact, that Eternal was left speechless.
“….”
Their conversation ended there, with Eternal quietly humbled by the truth.
“What kind of job intensity is this…”
“What’s going on with this supposedly cushy government job…”
“Please, not me too…”
The day when the identification device from Busan would arrive was just around the corner, but without a way to contact her “landlord,” Eternal was getting desperate.
Even so, her routine remained unchanged: training, meals, and more training.
“Guide Yeongwon, Professor Shin from Jeju Branch is here for a lecture on gates.”
“Okay.”
“There’s also a short conference call from Hong Kong regarding unselecteds. Please answer a few questions with the interpreter.”
“Alright.”
No matter how her personal hopes were crushed, Eternal continued to meet new people at headquarters, learning new things from them.
“Why does it feel like I’m sinking deeper into this swamp I can’t escape…”
While the atmosphere in the Center brightened after the Ilsan Gate incident, Eternal grew gloomier with each passing day.
“She’s smart. Has good instincts. Sharp sense too.”
Late one afternoon, Eternal stopped outside Professor Yoon Heeyu’s office.
“She’s a little lazy, but that suits the kind of high-efficiency energy management required for dungeon operations.”
Yoon Heeyu was on a call.
“Yes, I think she’d pair well with Manager Baek Yul. We’ll know more after checking the compatibility score, of course.”
They were clearly discussing her.
The name Baek Yul was familiar — Korea’s #2-ranked S-Class Esper, head of the First Emergency Response Division, and, according to Yoryeon, close friends with Division Two’s head, Esper Lee Changgyeol.
“If she stays at the Center, she could be a real asset.”
It was a compliment, technically.
“If the test comes out A-grade, she might even qualify for front-line guiding.”
Front — the term for guides who directly enter the gate or stay near its threshold.
“She looks delicate, but she’s probably tougher than she seems. It’d be a waste to keep someone like that as backup only.”
Backup — the guides who assist safely from the Center’s interior.
Eternal had no intention of staying on in any role, but if she absolutely had to, she’d rather be backup than front-line.
The professor’s words were not ones she agreed with.
“And she’s well-liked. The public would adore her.”
Eternal frowned. Fame and suffering — both things she wanted nothing to do with.
So she stepped back, trying not to listen.
“And she likes Kim Yeohyeon. It’s not rare to ad
mire him, especially now that the whole country’s drunk on their national hero, but still… she’s young,
impressionable.”
Eternal lingered within earshot, piecing together only fragments of the conversation.
“I don’t know if she’ll be able to endure it, but maybe…”
After a long silence, Professor Yoon asked softly,
“Is it wrong to hope for a miracle? Don’t you think?”
The person on the other end spoke with mounting intensity.
“The trial of the world’s end is coming. It’s too late to avoid it. Every piece of data warns that something far worse is approaching this land.”
Her voice hardened.
“How long do you think we can keep turning a blind eye, comforting ourselves with the lies of self-serving bastards?”
Anger seeped through her tightly clenched words.
“They’ll all die like dogs. And of course, before they go, those bastards will send the babies — the innocent, the fragile — to die first. It’s obvious. Do we really need to see that future to know?”
Silence fell over the office.
“If this keeps up, we’re all finished.”
Professor Yoon buried her face in her hands.
“And her name is Yeongwon.”
The same word — Eternal — embedded in the title given to Kim Yeohyeon by the World Tree: The Eternal Devotee.
“As if it were fate.”
The call ended.
Knock knock.
Moments later, Eternal knocked.
“Yeongwon, come in!”
Professor Yoon greeted her brightly, as though nothing had happened. Throughout the entire lecture that followed, she never once mentioned the phone call.
The time wasn’t right — not yet.
