Episode 8
At the same time, Ashlert Hotel.
“Boss, I have something important to report.”
“What is it?”
Since they were far away from the main office in the Republic of Rojas, Seimon was already tired with all the paperwork.
He put his coffee cup down and looked at Andrei. Seimon’s face turned serious after seeing Andrei’s expression.
It was clearly bad news. And it had to do with Christine.
“What is it?”
“Well…”
Andrei sighed. After hearing the report, Seimon was speechless.
“Go buy me some flowers.”
“Sorry? Flowers?”
“Pick only the most expensive ones.”
Seimon walked into the bathroom.
He needed to look his best. His eyes glinted sharply as he took off his clothes.
—
Meanwhile, Christine was busy checking magic items at work—and she was angry.
Now, her coworkers were purposely walking past her and calling her “fox” loudly enough for her to hear.
It was ridiculous.
People had always been jealous of Christine’s beauty and her strong magic sense. Now they were gossiping even more.
Christine was furious. She could handle people insulting her—but not around her baby.
Still, she knew fighting back would only make things worse. She had learned to keep quiet since she was young.
“Baby, close your ears.”
She just waited for work to end. As soon as it did, she stood up, her face tired, and left the quarantine center.
But someone blocked her way.
“?”
“Christine.”
It was Liert—the same man who avoided her all day.
Was he crazy?
After what he did yesterday, he still had the nerve to come talk to her?
“What are you doing?!”
Christine was already on edge because of Seimon’s will. This just made her angrier.
“Who was that man yesterday?”
Liert glared at her and questioned her.
Christine was speechless.
The way he demanded answers about Seimon like he had any right—it was ridiculous.
She stared at him and tried to speak calmly.
“That’s none of your business. And honestly, you shouldn’t even be talking to me, Liert. Do you even realize what you did yesterday and what I went through today?”
But Liert ignored her and just kept talking.
“I already told everyone you’re my girlfriend. And it’s true we had dinner together. You know that doesn’t look good for you, right?”
He smirked nastily.
“So why not just become my girlfriend officially? That way, people won’t think you’re an easy woman.”
Christine wanted to scream.
This was insane. She didn’t even want to respond anymore. She wished he’d just disappear.
“That guy yesterday—he’s a creepy stalker, right? Forget him. You’re mine now!”
Liert hit his chest proudly and tried to act like he was her man.
Christine just glared at him.
Seimon may have made her life hard, but at least he wasn’t disgusting like Liert.
She pushed past him and walked away.
“That will never happen. Don’t talk to me again.”
“You’ll regret this!”
When Liert grabbed her hand again, Christine pushed him away.
“You’re the one who’ll regret it if you don’t back off. Don’t speak to me again.”
“What? Just because you’re pretty, you think you’re some kind of princess?”
Christine gave a cold laugh.
“What if I am a princess? And everyone deserves respect. Don’t treat people like trash.”
Liert flinched, surprised by her strong presence. He thought she was quiet and soft.
Sweat dripped down his face.
He had already told coworkers he was dating Christine and even lied that they slept together. His pride was hurt.
Christine quickly walked away.
But Liert clenched his fists. He wasn’t ready to give up.
“Christine, are you really going to act like this?”
“Don’t follow me, unless you want to get dragged away by the police!”
As they argued outside, a black luxury car was parked in front of the quarantine center, glowing under the sunset.
Christine froze the moment she saw who it was. Liert followed and looked confused at first, but then he realized—and was shocked.
A tall, extremely handsome man with black hair and golden eyes.
It’s him!
The same man from yesterday—Seimon Deyrte.
He smiled charmingly at Christine.
“Well said, Christine.”
“Seimon? Why are you here…?”
Christine was so surprised, her voice trembled.
“Christine knows him?”
“He’s so handsome…”
“Wait—wasn’t she dating Liert?”
The coworkers whispered.
Liert’s pride was ruined.
He pointed at Seimon and yelled.
“W-Who do you think you are, following us since yesterday?!”
“Hah.”
Seimon looked annoyed. He nodded toward Liert.
“Hey, loser.”
“L-Loser?!”
Liert was shocked to hear that.
Seimon gave him a cold smile.
“Yeah, you. Don’t ever talk to Christine again. I’m barely holding back right now.”
“You don’t have the right!”
Liert shouted, but Seimon’s eyes turned darker.
“Shut your mouth. Unless you want to be buried alive. Or maybe you’d rather sink to the bottom of the sea?”
“What?! Who even are you to talk like that to Christine?”
Liert tried to fight back.
“Me?”
Seimon sighed and walked forward. Then he pulled out the bouquet of flowers he was hiding and handed them to Christine.
“The baby’s father.”
His voice was cool as always, but there was warmth in his eyes.
Christine’s eyes widened as she took the flowers. Seimon awkwardly looked away.
“So let’s stop all the stupid rumors now.”
He turned toward Liert and stepped close—just a hand’s length away—and glared down.
“I’ll say it one more time. Get lost.”
His voice was low, but deadly serious.
Liert backed away, pale and trembling. Then, like his pants were on fire, he screamed and ran off.
“What the—?”
“This is crazy.”
The other employees whispered. It was now clear that Liert had been lying.
And the father of Christine’s baby had finally shown up—wealthy and incredibly attractive.
People no longer looked at Christine with jealousy, but with admiration.
Christine, annoyed by how quickly they changed, rushed into the car. Seimon followed and asked with a smile:
“Do you like the flowers?”
“…Yes. They’re pretty.”
Christine had always loved flowers—back in her countryside home, and even at the Deyrte mansion where she cared for the garden.
“I know,” he said.
How much did he really know?
Christine’s heart skipped a beat at his quiet answer.
So this is what it feels like to receive flowers from a man.
But maybe he just brought them because flowers are a normal gift for women.
She tried to stay calm and spoke coldly.
“Why did you come to my workplace and say you’re the baby’s father? You’ve made things difficult for me.”
Seimon frowned.
“So I should’ve just stood back and watched you get harassed by that loser?”
Christine blinked in surprise and looked down at the bouquet.
Her heart pounded.
How did he even know?
Yes, he had saved her—but she didn’t want to admit it. No, she was scared.
Why did he keep helping her? What did he really want?
“Why do you look like that? Are you feeling sick?”
His worried voice made her close her eyes.
The kinder he was, the more it hurt.
