Chapter 7
âHmm, and after the party, Iâd like to visit the academy for a while.â
At my words, Artern tilted his head.
âWhat is it?â
âThe principal called for me. Thereâs a scholarship I postponed receiving four years ago. He cares about me, so if I donât go personally, he might feel disappointed.â
âI see.â
Artern looked at me with interest when I mentioned the delayed scholarship, but he didnât ask for details.
âIs there a professor you can introduce to Raiden?â
At his question, I smiled.
âOf course.â
âThen Iâll leave it to you.â
Nobles usually receive lessons from retired professors. That was probably what Artern wanted.
Everything was settled.
After the meal, Artern drank some water and looked at me.
âCelia, after you return from the academy, spring will be in full bloom. How about we hold the engagement ceremony that day?â
âPardon? But the engagement ceremony was alreadyâŠâ
I had already had one at the Roel family.
Though, it wasnât a proper one.
âWe didnât hold it at our house. I would like to have a formal engagement ceremony.â
Artern smiled.
âAnd invite your friends too.â
His eyes were gentle. It felt like he was also interested in my connections.
âIâm fine with it.â
Raiden nodded calmly.
âI would like to do it again. That ceremony didnât suit Celia.â
Then he looked at me and added,
âBut only if Celia wants it.â
His voice was trembling.
âWellâŠâ
My voice shook.
It was hard to refuse their sincerity.
But agreeing also felt complicated.
âDo you really want to do it again?â
At my question, Raiden smiled brightly.
That smile made it hard to refuse.
âThen⊠we should start by preparing clothes for the ceremony.â
Raiden immediately brightened up and spoke excitedly.
It almost felt like his ears or tail were moving happily.
Maybe it was just my imagination.
Anyway, introducing my connections to Raiden would make his life easier.
And holding a public engagement ceremony again wasnât a bad choice for me either.
To go to the dress shop, Raiden and I got into a carriage.
The Pellis mansion wasnât far from the busy shopping district, so we arrived quickly.
âThis shop has many beautiful clothes. I come here often.â
A large square building stood before us.
The sign had elegant writing.
The entire building was a clothing shop.
âI never thought Iâd come here again.â
The sign read: Imperial Boutique.
The clothes here were beautifulâbut very expensive.
I used to own a few designer pieces from here, bought before my family fell into decline.
I hadnât come back since.
Raiden opened the door confidently.
Inside, a chandelier sparkled from the ceiling.
The place felt bright and elegant.
Beautiful dresses hung neatly.
As I walked, I examined the fabrics.
âStill high quality.â
The materials were luxurious.
And the dresses were decorated with real gemstonesânot just decorations.
âSo flashy.â
I actually liked flashy clothes.
Most of the designs here matched my taste perfectly.
âWelcome.â
The shop owner personally came out.
His eyes lit up when he saw Raiden.
âItâs been a while, Lord Raiden. And the lady beside youâŠ?â
The owner, Pell, tilted his head, then clapped.
âThe daughter of the Roel Duke?â
âThatâs correct.â
Even though I hadnât visited in years, he recognized me.
âIâm surprised you remember me from when I was young.â
Smiling politely was important.
âNo, not at all. Lady Roel, itâs nice to see you again.â
âPlease call me Celia.â
âYes, Lady Celia.â
Pell smiled kindly.
âPlease take your time and look around.â
I began browsing again.
But Raiden was just staring at me.
âArenât you choosing anything?â
âI wanted to see your taste in clothes, Celia.â
I focused on elegant and decorative dresses.
Even if it wasnât a huge gathering, the Crown Prince and Princess would attend.
I needed something suitable.
âDo you like this kind of style?â
âTheyâre beautiful and suitable for the occasion.â
âJust imagining you in such a dress is breathtaking.â
His praise made my face heat up.
Then I suddenly stopped.
A dress caught my eye.
Raiden turned to look as well.
âThe neckline and waistline are beautiful.â
It was a pink dress, perfect for spring.
It had gold embroidery and small gemstones.
âYouâve chosen a wonderful dress. It will suit you perfectly.â
Pell quickly praised me.
âMay I try it on?â
âOf course. But your shoesâoh!â
He looked at my black shoes.
âTry these instead.â
He handed me light pink shoes.
âThank you.â
I quickly changed and went to the fitting room.
After some time, I came out wearing the dress.
I looked at the mirror and admired myself.
My black hair flowed over my shoulders.
My blue eyes matched the blue gems on the dress.
I liked it.
âAre you done?â
Raiden stood beside me.
âDid you choose your outfit?â
âYes. I chose something that would match you.â
I noticed his collar was slightly wrinkled and fixed it.
His face turned red.
ââŠYour hands are beautiful.â
âI guess everything about me looks beautiful to you.â
âOf course. Youâre dazzling.â
That sounded like something a playboy would say.
I smiled and stood beside him.
We really looked like a couple.
âWe look good together.â
Pell smiled beside us.
âYou truly do.â
Raidenâs ears turned red.
Why was he embarrassed?
It was cute.
I gently patted his head.
âWhy are you patting me?â
âBecause youâre cute. Do you not like it?â
He seemed bothered.
âThatâs something you do to children.â
âI do it to my younger siblings too.â
âIâm not a child. Iâm your fiancĂ©. And Iâm not cuteâIâm handsome.â
âAlright.â
He looked slightly upset.
So I gently pressed his cheek.
His face turned even redder.
Ah⊠that was a mistake.
I knew him well, but he didnât know me the same way.
I might have crossed a line.
âSorry.â
ââŠ.â
âI touched you without asking.â
His face turned completely red.
âSaying such things with those lipsâŠâ
Ah⊠was that inappropriate?
âMy heart feels like itâs going out of control.â
He said that while holding his chest.
I froze.
He really spoke his feelings openly.
It was so unexpected that I laughed.
Without overthinking, I decided to buy the outfits.
After purchasing, Pell even gave me the shoes as a gift.
He also asked me to visit the shop often.
Next, we went to the cake shop.
The party was in three days.
We needed to check if they could prepare enough cakes.
If not, we would have to make them ourselves.
The shop was in a quiet corner of the city.
It was small.
We had to get off the carriage and stand in line.
As soon as I stepped out, people began whispering.
I always attracted attention.
I didnât like it, but I was used to it.
After dancing with Majin, this became normal.
But Raiden looked uncomfortable.
âIf I want to walk beside you, I need to get used to people staring.â
âYou will have to.â
âHow should I act?â
âJust ignore them. Like you enjoy the attention.â
âBut Iâm not popular.â
With that face? Not popular?
I quietly laughed and whispered in his ear.
I told him he would receive plenty of attention because he was handsome.
He glanced at me.
âIâm looking forward to the whipped cream cake. I wonder how good it will be.â
He changed the topic and stepped slightly away.
His face was red as he touched his ear.
It looked like he was embarrassed.
That reaction⊠is a bit strange.
