Chapter 37
I jumped up from my seat.
“Are you crazy…? Get out! I can handle someone like Rayura perfectly fine without you!!”
I shouted at the top of my lungs, and Seojin-hyung, who had been quietly watching me, snorted and let out a laugh.
“Alright. Let’s talk again once you’ve calmed down. If Seyon wants, I can also look into ways to punish that friend, so don’t get too upset.”
“Can’t you hear me? Get lost!”
Only when I screamed as if my life depended on it did Seojin-hyung close the door and leave. Alone, I slumped onto the bed.
‘What…? Quit school? Just because he wants to play and teach me…?’
It was too horrifying for words.
Did he even understand what he was saying?
“This is… f***ed up…”
I realized I had been underestimating Seojin-hyung lately. I thought just because he smiled and acted friendly, it meant the treatment was going smoothly.
‘Even though that’s his specialty…’
Suddenly, Yeon Jaehyun came to mind.
He used to tell me not to force a smile when I was struggling. This guy, on the other hand, tells me to quit school if I’m upset.
Maybe it hit me harder because I thought I had gotten somewhat close to Seojin-hyung.
“Should I just give up on therapy…?”
I felt completely lost in an instant. Everything went dark in front of my eyes.
“Done!! Woohoo, let’s go have fun!”
The chaotic midterms were finally over.
As soon as the bell rang, Myeongajin ran over, fussing about how relieved she felt.
“You didn’t even study.”
“But I felt guilty! Now I can finally relax and have fun, so I love it!”
“Of course you would.”
That was such a Myeongajin response.
But the end of exams was good news for me too, so I happily got up from my seat.
Today I’d hang out with Myeongajin, Saturday would be for Yeon Jaehyun, and Sunday…
‘…do I have to hang out with Seojin-hyung?’
I had tossed the idea of going out after exams, but the uneasy conversation from two days ago made me reluctant.
“Hey, Kim Seyon. Can we talk for a moment?”
I turned my head to see Jeong Sumin standing there with her bag slung over one shoulder. It seemed like I should entertain her first.
“Let’s do it here.”
“Myeongajin, wait in the classroom. We’ll be quick.”
“Okay!”
Ignoring my words, Jeong Sumin draped an arm over my shoulders and dragged me out.
We stopped at the corner of the hallway next to the stairs.
“Why.”
“That cheating paper… that was Rayura, right?”
I leaned against the wall and gave a vague answer.
“Forget it. Don’t worry about it.”
“Just gonna let it slide?”
“Are you crazy?! Damn it, that girl messed with the wrong person.”
“Yeah! But why…”
Jeong Sumin trailed off, sighed deeply, and stepped closer to me.
“Is my image really that trashy to you? If it’s hard, just say so. Ask for help.”
Her gaze, now closer, forced me to look up.
“Why go that far…? I just didn’t want to be a burden.”
“Whether it’s a burden or not is for me to decide.”
Her face, looking down at me, was full of irritation. What’s her deal?
I lightly tapped her chest with the back of my hand to signal her to move aside.
“I’ve already decided, so leave. I’ll handle it.”
“If you’re handling it, why are we even friends?”
“Because it’s fun and enjoyable to be together. Why, damn it.”
Jeong Sumin flinched at my deliberately casual answer.
“You…”
Then she turned her head in a pout.
“All the more reason to tell me. Don’t leave someone hanging…”
“Exactly! I’m upset too!!”
A sudden voice interrupted us, and when we both turned, two heads popped out from behind the wall.
“You mean that was Rayura? I never imagined it! Why didn’t you tell me?!”
“Myeongajin? …And Yeon Jaehyun?”
I raised an eyebrow, surprised. Myeongajin I expected, but Yeon Jaehyun was completely unexpected.
“Sorry… I wasn’t eavesdropping. I just happened to see it on my way home.”
“Yeah! But Jaehyun kept trying to leave, so I grabbed him.”
Myeongajin proudly placed her hands on her hips.
Then she said,
“Then let’s come up with a revenge plan for Seyon together.”
No.
I definitely responded, but why…
“How dare anyone mess with Seyon! Sumin, let’s show Rayura what a White Killer trainee’s punch feels like!”
Myeongajin, all fired up, shouted nonsense.
“You want me to hit a girl?”
Jeong Sumin asked in disbelief.
“Um… I should be going…”
“No!”
Yeon Jaehyun, forced to attend a meeting he had no interest in, reluctantly joined.
“Everyone just get lost.”
I wasn’t happy about any of this.
…So we’re sitting in an empty classroom in this ridiculous combination?
I glared at the mastermind, Myeongajin, and said,
“I told you to stay in the classroom, why did you sneak after us?”
“I didn’t like you guys having a secret talk without me!!”
“You…”
“Jaehyun heard it too! He came before me?!”
She used timid Jaehyun as a shield to avoid my scolding. Jaehyun timidly said,
“I thought it was a serious discussion. I didn’t want to get in the way… I didn’t do it on purpose.”
Yeah. I knew that better than anyone.
With his personality, eavesdropping? Impossible. He probably waited until the conversation was over to avoid trouble.
‘But he got caught by Myeongajin and ended up dragged into it… poor guy.’
They really seemed inseparable.
“Then get lost. Ignore Myeongajin.”
Jeong Sumin, frowning, said that to Yeon Jaehyun. I raised an eyebrow at the “protector of the protagonist” attitude.
“Sumin! I told you not to keep doing that to Jaehyun!!”
“Why? I really hate him. Don’t know why, just hate him so much.”
“I know why.”
I said flatly, and Jeong Sumin turned to stare at me.
“Really?”
“Yeah. Because your personality is totally rotten.”
“….”
She went quiet, as if I had hit a nerve.
Bang! Bang!
To lighten the tense atmosphere, Myeongajin slammed her hands on the desk.
“Everyone! Stop! This is serious. Let’s each suggest a way to get revenge on Rayura. Sumin, start!”
“Why me first? Make that idiot do it.”
“Hey, Jeong Sumin! I said don’t do that!”
Myeongajin sternly tried to restore order. Jeong Sumin, quiet now, hesitated a bit before answering timidly.
“…Well, can’t we take her somewhere and hit Kim Seyon? That’s all I can think of right now.”
“That’s why I didn’t say anything.”
“Damn. Sorry…”
She bowed solemnly. I had already suspected her bravado about asking for help was useless. Tch.
“Useless idiot.”
Behind my remark, Myeongajin raised her hand dramatically.
“Next!! Next is me! You guys, have you seen the movie The X? We should do like the main characters…”
“Yeon Jaehyun, any suggestions?”
Ignoring Myeongajin’s nonsense, the fake nerd pretended to hesitate.
“Um… I’m not sure, but… what if we find proof that she did it and tell the teacher?”
“If we had proof, we would’ve done that already! But we don’t, so what now?”
“Then we can get a testimony? Maybe record it…”
Hmm. I hadn’t thought of that. Not a bad idea.
“Wow. So the glasses aren’t just for show.”
“Jaehyun, you’re awesome!”
The idiots’ reactions were good too. I didn’t expect the one dragged here against his will would have the most practical solution.
I asked with anticipation,
“How do we get a testimony?”
“…By hitting her? Sorry, I haven’t thought it through…”
But even Jaehyun was limited by the situation.
At that moment.
Suddenly!
Myeongajin jumped up, eyes sparkling.
“I’ve got a good idea!”
“What is it?”
Swallowing nervously, Myeongajin spoke in the most serious tone.
“…Sumin.”
Jeong Sumin looked at her, puzzled.
“Let’s go the charming route. Sumin, you’re the one who seduces Rayura.”
