Chapter 11
“New students, listen carefully.”
The headmaster standing on the stage of the auditorium began the entrance ceremony speech.
“Spellmore is not just a simple school. This place is the center of magic for the entire world and a cradle that produces only the greatest wizards who will lead the future.”
Gregory Lexarion.
The surnames written on the plaques beneath the portraits of past headmasters hanging in the hall at the main gate were all Lexarion.
It seemed the family had been inheriting the position of headmaster for generations.
“Are you happy that you will become great wizards from now on?”
“Yes!”
The loud answer from the freshmen shook the entire auditorium.
“Don’t be mistaken! You fools who don’t even know what you don’t know!”
The headmaster immediately poured cold water on the freshmen’s enthusiasm.
“You are not even wizards yet. You are nothing.”
He was crushing the spirit of the new students from the very first day.
So it’s just a typical private school, huh?
Selly, who was attending a private school for the second time in her life, simply smiled and watched the headmaster.
By the way, the headmaster has red eyes.
The Lexarion family seemed to be descendants of dragons.
“Whether you are expelled after one day and live a pathetic life at the bottom, or become somewhat useful wizards after six years and receive my noble teachings—depends entirely on you. Do you want to become a great wizard like me?”
“Yes!”
Some students still had energy left and shouted again.
The headmaster snorted loudly.
“I am wise enough not to expect such things from the likes of you. Just make sure your pathetic existence does not stain the name of Spellmore.”
Wow. The headmaster here doesn’t even try to hide his terrible personality.
Maybe that was normal here. No one frowned at the speech.
If Selly’s mother had heard this speech, she would have started yelling, “That crazy ba—”.
Instead, the parents and students gave thunderous applause.
The headmaster left the stage without even turning around.
Next, the vice principal stepped up.
“Well then, we have some announcements.”
He definitely looked more like a government official than a teacher.
“Student representatives will be selected as one male and one female for each grade. Applications for the first-year representative position must be submitted by 6 PM today, and voting will take place tomorrow morning in the cafeteria.”
At those words, Selly’s roommate standing next to her, Nova Astra, muttered to herself.
“The male representative is already decided. The girls are going to have a bloody fight.”
“Huh? Why is the male one already decided?”
“I heard the headmaster’s eldest son enrolled with us this year.”
Nova stretched her neck toward the front of the male students as if looking for him.
Selly followed her gaze.
So not all the boys in this world are handsome just because it’s a novel.
Even in a magic school, dragon descendants were rare.
No one else has red eyes.
Then suddenly she remembered Knox.
But how exactly are we supposed to meet again?
He should have explained that before leaving.
Selly’s thoughts had wandered off, but they returned when the vice principal made the next announcement.
“Immediately after the entrance ceremony, we will conduct the Elemental Aptitude Test. Freshmen must remain in their seats. Parents are not allowed to observe.”
The vice principal ignored the dissatisfied murmurs from the parents’ seats in the back.
“And classes will begin normally starting today.”
He also ignored the complaints coming from the students.
Then he stepped down from the stage.
The entrance ceremony ended.
“Hello, teacher. I’m Talula Bellua’s mother.”
Selly didn’t know if luxury brands existed in this world, but even someone like her who knew nothing about brands could tell the parents were dressed in clothes that probably cost several houses.
They rushed toward the teachers.
“Please take good care of my child.”
They were trying to make a good impression.
“Excuse me, teacher, you’re the one who defeated the Demon King—”
“I’m busy preparing for class.”
Some teachers ignored them completely and walked away.
Others proudly enjoyed the parents’ flattery.
But then—
Those arrogant teachers suddenly started bowing to a certain freshman.
Nova pointed at a blond boy standing at the very front of the male students.
“That’s the headmaster’s eldest son.”
“Ah…”
At that moment, the boy turned toward them.
Selly’s eyes grew as big as candy balls.
Huh? That’s Knox.
She didn’t know whether to be surprised or happy.
But Knox was already walking toward her.
“We will definitely meet again.”
So that’s what he meant.
We’re attending the same school!
But still…
“If you see me again, pretend you don’t know me.”
She still didn’t understand that part.
While Selly stared at Knox approaching and tilted her head in confusion—
“Hey. What are you staring at, carrot head?”
A big boy standing at the front of Knox’s group bumped into Selly’s shoulder as he passed.
…A shoulder check?
For a moment, Selly felt a wave of nostalgia.
In her previous life, when she was a famous child actress, elementary school bullies had often shoved her like that out of jealousy.
Yeah… I used to get shoulder-checked a lot back then. Wow, it’s been a while since I remembered that.
Back then, Selly endured it.
If rumors started, it would damage her career.
And the people she couldn’t even call parents would never defend her.
But now?
She was the strongest ordinary person in the universe.
So there was no reason to endure it.
“Hey, decoration eyes. I wasn’t looking at you.”
She snapped back with all the frustration she had held in during her previous life.
The boy turned around angrily and stomped back toward her.
He glared down at Selly as if trying to crush her with his presence.
“You—what did you just say?”
He was trying so hard to be intimidating.
Unfortunately, Selly wasn’t scared at all.
“Decoration. Eyes.”
She pronounced each word slowly so they would sink deep into his ears.
The boy’s nostrils flared like an angry bull.
“You started it. If you apologize first, I’ll apologize too.”
“Wow. This tiny thing is talking big to me…”
“The one picking a fight is you.”
His childish fists and gang meant nothing compared to Selly’s dryad aunts.
Starting a bully game on the first day of school? I’ll crush that attitude right away so he never tries this again.
The boy smirked and gestured toward Selly to his group as if saying, Look at this.
He even glanced at Knox as if expecting him to laugh along.
Selly’s eyes naturally moved toward Knox.
And she was shocked.
What the—my sunshine male lead looks frozen solid.
The Knox she saw at school was completely different from the Knox she had met before.
His eyes were so sharp it was like they were casting ice magic.
The boy with the decoration eyes froze under that gaze.
“Don’t cause trouble, Monty.”
Knox left with the other boys, leaving Monty behind.
Startled, Monty hurried after them, forgetting about Selly.
Before Knox left, Selly briefly met his eyes.
They were cold and emotionless—like he didn’t know her.
“And even if I’m different today, don’t be hurt. It’s not your fault.”
Selly wasn’t hurt.
She was just curious why Knox had changed.
“Knox Lexarion.”
While she watched Knox’s back as he walked away, Nova explained, thinking Selly didn’t know him.
“You either crawl after him and flatter him, or stay far away and never get noticed. I’ll choose the second option. It’s easier. After what just happened, it’s better if you do the same.”
Nova had already chosen her place in the power pyramid forming among the freshmen.
She suggested Selly stand beside her.
But Selly had already been noticed.
“But we can’t be friends.”
Then what were they supposed to be now?
‘I can’t be friends with you. Because we’re going to be lovers!’
Ugh, that’s so cringe! Is this a romance fantasy? Am I the heroine?
But as a Korean, Selly knew one thing for sure.
She had definitely jumped to conclusions too quickly.
