Chapter : 72
Chrono – Japan Magic Explorer Academy Arc
In Chrono’s state, I didn’t have a home in Japan, so I was living in a park like a homeless guy. As the Black Knight, I do have a villa the Prime Minister gave me… but right now I’m training in swordsmanship. The Black Knight suits a massive jet-black buster sword, so for now I’m in my normal form.
I ended up going to the dormitory of the Japan Magic Explorer Academy, where the magical girl’s grandfather serves as the headmaster. The condition was that I could attend whenever I liked and quit whenever I wanted. Of course, there was a transfer entrance exam—magic academics and practical magic. Since my magic power is zero, I scored zero on both.
In a typical story, this would be the part where I do something flashy and say, “Oops, did I just do something amazing?” …but no.
Out of the A–F class rankings, I was placed in the very lowest: F Class. And not just that—I barely got in as a waitlisted student.
Yeah! Backdoor admission! Totally rigged!!
For now, I’ll relax in the dorm. I’ll train at the practice grounds in the middle of the night. I can focus even if people are around, but I don’t like noisy crowds.
First, I went to the headmaster’s office to say I’d be in his care. He was an extremely friendly old man. He asked me to get along with his granddaughter, the magical girl. Apparently, he loves watching her YouTube dungeon-streaming channel or something like that. Also, both he and his granddaughter are fans of the Black Knight…
He just kept chatting about random stuff. I wasn’t really listening at all. It was a hassle, so I left the room in the middle of his story.
That night, while I was practicing sword swings at the training grounds, I noticed a girl sitting some distance away. She looked like she was troubled about something. I wasn’t interested, so I kept swinging my sword.
“Um…”
“…”
“Um… You’re not someone I’ve seen before, right? Did you just transfer here?”
“…”
I was focused and didn’t hear her. The girl eventually left.
Morning came, and I took a bath.
Then—knock knock.
“Let’s go to school.”
The magical girl had come. Honestly, I’d rather go to a dungeon… Sigh… I reluctantly headed to school.
The magical girl is in A Class. I’m in F Class. That’s fine—the class designation is boldly written on the chest of the uniform. But for me, there’s an extra note added: the only “Waitlisted Student” in the academy.
I already want to quit school.
It makes me stand out!!
Well, whatever. I plan to quit whenever I feel like it anyway.
“I’m this way,” the magical girl said.
“Yeah, got it. After this, I’m heading to a dungeon.”
“I’ll go with you.”
“Yeah.”
I entered my classroom and sat by the window in the corner.
“Are you the transfer student?” a background extra asked.
“Yeah.”
“You might not want to sit there! That’s the delinquent’s se—”
“Hey!!”
“What?”
“That’s my seat! Move!”
A delinquent with a pompadour hairstyle glared at me.
“Don’t care!!”
“You bastard!”
He pulled back his fist. There was clear hostility in his intent. So he’s going to punch me, huh?
Before he could swing, I grabbed him by the neck and lifted him into the air.
“Ghk… can’t… breathe… stop…”
I slowly tightened my grip.
“Ababababa!!”
Foam began spilling from his mouth.
“What are you doing?! Stop that!”
A teacher came running over.
“Don’t move!!!!”
I released my aura.
The teacher, who had been rushing toward us, froze in place.
The classroom gradually descended into chaos.
