“It’s always noisy here, isn’t it?”
Octo stopped in front of the room with Sanki and Kon in tow.
“Where are you taking the little ones?” Mukai asked.
“I’m gonna get the same ranger cut as Black Prince,”
“And Kon’s gonna get a ribbon,”
the two kids explained happily.
“These tiny brats have suddenly awakened to fashion and won’t stop pestering me.
They even ordered me to give them a custom haircut,” Octo said with a laugh, then glanced at the bag Mukai was holding. The little ones peeked from the side.
“Ah, hamburgers! I want one!”
“Kon’s hungry too!”
As the kids chirped loudly,
“Can I have one of these?”
Enato, who arrived later, also peeked into the bag.
“Go ahead. There are bonus toys too, so pick one.”
“I can’t decide…”
Sanki and Kon stared at the bonuses with grave seriousness, making Octo and Enato laugh.
“You can give our bonuses to the kids,” they said.
Overjoyed, the little ones picked two items each and happily grabbed their burgers.
“Alright, once we finish lunch, let’s cut your hair,” Octo said as he led them toward the cafeteria.
“This is the manga Meio and the others are obsessed with, right?”
“Haven’t you read it, Enato-san?”
“Not yet. Right now I’m hooked on Kawahara-san’s novel.
I got really into it.”
“The unfinished one?” Mukai asked.
“Yeah. It’s great. I’ve read up to volume five, but since it’s a continuing story, I really wish he’d hurry up and write the rest.”
“He seems to be struggling. Says the image of Meio doesn’t match.”
“Oh, I get that. In the book, Meio is ruthless and downright evil.
Once you know the real Meio, it doesn’t match at all.”
“So Meio keeps complaining about it.”
“What? Meio filed a complaint? Hahaha!”
Enato burst out laughing.
“In reality, Meio has been walking around looking for someone who’ll give him the bonus prize.”
“Meio wants this too?”
“Seems like it. Look—
Adachi-kun already completed his set.”
Mukai pointed with a smile at Adachi, who was happily eating his burger while admiring the bonuses.
“Adachi-kun’s really brightened up. He used to have no expression at all, so it was hard to tell how he felt.”
“He’s finally found a place where he can lean on someone.
He must feel a little safe now.
He’s like a small child,” Arton said while eating fries.
“Yeah. Before this, his body was under a huge amount of strain, and he couldn’t really process it properly.
But the ring he has now reduces the load perfectly—not too much, not too little.
It must feel much lighter for him mentally too.
I hope he stays like this and settles down.”
The three of them smiled as they watched Adachi happily munching his hamburger with Saki beside him.
