Chapter 45
The two of them glared at the bouquet of magic-stone flowers carefully placed in the corner of the chair. They only answered my words reluctantly.
“I see. If it were you, you could have come in first.”
“Too bad, really too bad.”
They were so distracted by the earlier kiss that they barely paid attention to what I said.
“Kaeh, the Magic Tower Lord is dangerous.”
“That Utias guy! No wonder he keeps sneaking around our house. He was targeting you, Kaeh. Always be careful!”
Their eyes blazed as they stared at me.
Did they even listen to a word I said?
Watching the heroine and her brother worry about the male protagonist’s danger in the novel, I felt utterly dumbfounded. I had no energy to argue, so I just nodded blankly. They whispered to each other.
“Look at that clueless face. Won’t Utias go crazy? Let’s strengthen security.”
“Yes. Let’s ban those Magic Tower guys from entering the mansion completely.”
Hey, listen here—I can hear everything!
Clueless face? This face once belonged to the villainess who almost destroyed the world.
“How did it come to this?”
Since I possessed the body of the final mastermind villainess in this world, I had tried to live as normally as possible to avoid the protagonists’ attention. My only wish was a simple, ordinary life, yet the protagonists’ excessive interest had turned my life upside down.
Who could have imagined that all the main characters in this novel would obsess over the villainess like this?
I ignored the whispering twins and turned to look out the window. The sky, clear that morning, was now filled with dark clouds.
On the first floor of the Empire Healer Headquarters, a man sat in a corner office flipping through papers. Suddenly, he yawned widely.
His messy green hair and deep green eyes were full of boredom.
“Haah…”
‘So boring.’
A woman nearby organizing papers shook her head in annoyance, her pink hair bouncing.
It had been two hours since she arrived, and the man had only flipped through papers and yawned.
If he weren’t the youngest son of the Marquise, closest to Empress Lebeleihen, he would have been fired long ago. She clicked her tongue bitterly. Parents really do make a difference.
Born the youngest of three sons and two daughters in the marquis family, Bidur Healer had no talent for study from a young age. With no title or wealth to inherit, he needed a job, but being a playboy, lazy, and weak-willed, he could do nothing to maintain noble appearances.
The marquise spent a fortune on tutors and bribed other exam candidates, just so he could get a spot at the Empire Healer Headquarters. Yet he still performed terribly at his job.
Being late was normal, and he spent his time harassing the staff or mocking people below him.
He had been demoted to the lowest rank due to complaints and assigned to a corner office, but he stayed the same. The only one suffering was Lucy, the healer who worked with him.
“Lucy, lose some weight and wear makeup. Women should look delicate and soft. What is this?”
Bidur grinned and poked Lucy’s side.
“Lose some weight, come on.”
Lucy silently gritted her teeth.
She was the daughter of a baron from a small village three hours from the capital. She had given up on society events due to body insecurities and focused on study from a young age. After passing the healer exam as soon as she became an adult, she was assigned to the local branch near her hometown.
Lucy wanted to succeed between greedy parents, immature younger siblings, and a poor family. She wanted to leave her hometown for the capital, where better pay, connections, and promotions awaited.
She worked hard for five years and finally was assigned to the main headquarters.
But her colleague there was the worst. Harassment, appearance comments, body-shaming—everything!
She wanted to quit, but leaving would waste her efforts. The headquarters’ salary allowed her to live independently without ever marrying, so she couldn’t quit.
Complaints to superiors did nothing. Bidur had the backing of Empress Lebeleihen, so no action was taken.
She decided to endure for two more weeks until the personnel assignments changed.
“Bidur. The head said he’ll come to inspect later, so organize the papers quickly.”
Lucy ground her teeth and pushed Bidur’s hand away.
“Ah… that Santom kid, why make things so troublesome?”
Hearing the head’s name, Bidur paused. He sighed and went back to flipping papers.
After about ten minutes, he leaned back and yawned. Glancing around the office, he spotted a woman lingering near the front gate.
‘Wow!’
Even from a distance, she must be beautiful. Bidur jumped up and ran to the window, papers flying. Lucy frowned.
“I’ll just go check her out!”
Bidur rushed out. Lucy thought it was better not to see him and picked up the scattered papers.
Breathless, Bidur wiped his sweat. His chubby body struggled with sudden exercise.
He couldn’t show this to a beauty. He calmed his breathing.
A white-haired woman was climbing the stairs to the main entrance. Bidur quietly approached, clearing his throat. She looked around and noticed him.
‘Wow… what a sight.’
Meeting her gaze, Bidur blushed and swallowed nervously. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Even surpassing famous beauties in the capital or elite performers. He noticed her jewel-like red eyes.
Habitually, he scanned her body, rating her from head to toe.
A young-looking woman, just becoming an adult, wearing the Empire healer uniform. So she must be a new healer.
He quickly thought: her family wasn’t on the list of higher-ranking families than his. Perfect target to tease.
He smiled wickedly.
“Hey, newbie! Why are you walking in stiffly without greeting a senior?”
He tried to intimidate her, expecting her to tremble. But things didn’t go as he imagined.
“Uh… hey!”
The woman looked at him as if he were a cockroach, then calmly turned to the knights guarding the entrance.
“Hello, sir. Excuse me, may I ask something? I missed a document and don’t know where to go…”
She smiled politely, and the knights immediately offered help. Bidur, realizing she ignored him, scowled at her from afar.
‘That… brat! I’ll show her who’s boss.’
He stomped toward her to grab her hair.
“Hey, don’t ignore me—ugh!”
As he reached out, an unbearable pain shot through his hand.
“What are you doing?!”
A tall, short-haired woman had grabbed his wrist and twisted it.
“Ahhhh!”
Her grip was so strong Bidur couldn’t think.
“I-I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! Please forgive me!”
He begged, tears and snot streaming, but she didn’t respond.
Finally, the white-haired beauty and the knights intervened.
“Ah! Davien, stop! You’ll break your wrist!”
Davien…?
