CHAPTER 90…………………………………….
“Master, you’re working on something, right? Something related to your husband?”
“……Are you talking about my husband?”
Lady Pavo lifted her teacup for a moment, buying herself time to calm the fluttering in her chest.
As she swallowed the warm tea and organized her thoughts, her lips opened again—her face now completely free of any emotion.
“I’m surprised that you know about my husband. What do you think I’m making?”
Maintaining a faint smile, Lady Pavo’s question was defensive, testing the waters without revealing her own information.
“Maybe it’s unnecessary to do this with a child… but children tend to repeat what adults say without malice.”
Even though young Miss Pegasus had touched on a sensitive topic, Lady Pavo couldn’t seriously get angry at a six-year-old.
She might have overheard some rumors out of curiosity, but that was the fault of careless adults, not the child in front of her.
Lady Pavo, who loved beautiful things, had become surprisingly lenient ever since she saw Lin Pegasus’ cute and unique appearance in person.
Feeling the gentle gaze directed at her, Lin was slightly flustered by the unexpected kindness but spoke clearly:
“It’s an invention for your husband! Um… it restores abundance to those in need, right?”
“Oh my.”
Lady Pavo’s lips curved in a small smile at the child’s roundabout wording.
In fact, Lady Pavo had been personally most concerned with her husband, Oculu Pavo, recently.
Being a member of a noble line with a refined aesthetic sense, peacock men generally chose spouses solely based on personal preference, ignoring alliances or convenience.
As expected of a peacock noblewoman, Lady Pavo married a husband who perfectly suited her tastes.
Naturally, their marriage overflowed with love, unlike ordinary noble families.
Her current concern, however, was that her beloved husband had been extremely depressed lately and hadn’t left the house.
“I told him to keep it quiet, but there’s no stopping rumors entirely… I just hope he doesn’t get hurt by them.”
She wasn’t worried about his reputation—she feared that any rumor reaching her precious husband’s ears might wound him.
“I don’t mind about his head itself.”
Her husband, Oculu, was a typical peacock man.
Peacock men had tremendous pride and aesthetics about their beautiful avian forms.
Their proudest feature was the tail feathers, which mirrored the care given to their hair in human form.
With the characteristic teal hair of peacocks, men treated their locks as if they were a matter of life and death.
But despite such meticulous care…
“Ah, no. This can’t be. This is a curse!”
One morning, Oculu, worried that his hair was thinning, clutched a handful of fallen strands in front of the mirror and screamed.
“I don’t want to show you like this!”
After sinking into despair, he wrapped his hair tightly in scarves and never showed it again.
“Honey, don’t be so upset. I love you no matter what you look like.”
“That’s only because you don’t want to see this pathetic sight! If you saw me now, you’d lose all interest.”
“No way! You’re always the cutest to me.”
Tears streamed down his handsome face, but no matter how much she reassured him, her words couldn’t reach him in his deep despair.
Eventually, seeing her husband holed up in his room for weeks without leaving, Lady Pavo’s heart ached.
“All his low self-esteem comes from his hair. If only I could fix it…”
Lady Pavo, who had never cared about hair loss before, began devoting herself seriously to hair restoration research.
As the head of the wealthy Pavo family, she spared no resources in funding her studies.
She bought every hair restoration product on the market to study, and, building on her knowledge of cosmetics, delved deeper into chemistry and pharmacology.
Through her dedicated effort—or perhaps her innate talent—Lady Pavo discovered a key ingredient that could revolutionize hair restoration for the continent.
“Yes! If only I can amplify this formula’s effect!”
But the limitation of the ingredient frustrated her.
Although it stimulated new follicles, the effect was slow and limited in scope.
“No. At this rate, it’d take a hundred years to fill a single bald spot.”
That wasn’t enough to brighten her husband’s sad face.
Seeing him, once lively, now confined to his room, Lady Pavo felt urgency rising in her chest.
“But could this child really help with that problem?”
Curious about the special information Lin claimed to have, Lady Pavo leaned forward.
“So, what kind of help could this special information you brought me give to my research?”
“It’s something that adds a very important effect.”
Lady Pavo noticed a determined glint in Lin’s golden eyes.
With a tap, Lin placed a sealed potion bottle from her pocket onto the desk.
“All my research so far has been worth it.”
Proudly pointing at the potion, Lin said,
“It’s a universal medicine that can amplify the effects of your research!”
“!”
Lady Pavo instinctively covered her slightly open mouth with her gloved hand.
“If this really can boost my hair restoration formula…”
Her cheeks warmed at the thought of her peacock husband, imagined in vivid anticipation.
She calmed herself before getting too excited and spoke:
“Universal medicine… what a marvelous name. If it truly amplifies effects in multiple areas, the name is more than deserved.”
“Try using it.”
“Oh my.”
Lady Pavo was slightly surprised by Lin’s straightforward offering, without the usual negotiation.
“Right. After all, she’s still only six years old, even if she is the heir of a major noble house.”
Unlike adults who exploit others’ weaknesses or ridicule them, this child had come running, believing her carefully researched potion might help.
Lady Pavo’s heart swelled imagining the little girl proudly presenting the potion she had worked so hard on.
“What a cute little one.”
Though she didn’t yet have children of her own, Lady Pavo silently wished for a daughter just as adorable in the future.
“Even if the potion’s effect is weak, I mustn’t show disappointment.”
Not to appease the Pegasus family, but to preserve the pure goodwill of the child.
Yet, contrary to Lady Pavo’s warm thoughts, Lin’s mind was alive with a mischievous capitalist grin.
“If you can’t beat them, join them.”
A legendary hair restoration potion, destined to wipe away the tears of millions and bring joy.
“If I can’t invent it first, so what? I’ll just ride along with the developer.”
Exactly. Just like in board games—if you ride on a piece, you can move two at once, right?
Help it come out faster, and then reap the glory.
“Ride!”
Imagining a giraffe piece hopping onto a peacock-shaped piece, Lin grinned slyly.
