You Still Want Me to Be the Chief?
Everyone looked over and saw Feng Hao covered in blood, even his hair matted with the sticky red liquid.
He staggered as he walked, heading straight toward Li Qingqing.
Su Qianyi hadn’t expected him to still have the strength to escape. She had clearly drugged him and beaten him half to death.

“Feng Hao, Li Qingqing told you to kill me, and you really listened. I already ran away, yet you still chased me.”

The high priest kept staring at the sundial, as if waiting for something.
Su Qianyi noticed his strange behavior and quietly grabbed a stone knife.
When she approached Li Yue’s corpse, she cried out, “Godmother, you’re gone, my heart aches so much…”
As she spoke, the stone knife pressed secretly against Li Yue’s neck.
“Su Qianyi, what are you doing to my mother?” Li Qingqing shouted, rushing over.
Just as Su Qianyi was about to slash the blade across the neck, a pair of hands grabbed her wrist.
Li Yue opened her eyes. With a sharp movement, she sat up and snatched the knife back.
“The chief is alive!”

The crowd erupted in cheers. Li Qingqing stopped dead in her tracks, staring blankly. Her mother wasn’t dead.
Su Qianyi’s face twisted with fear. She collapsed and crawled backward.
“You’re not dead?”
In an instant, Li Yue pressed the stone knife against Su Qianyi’s neck. “My dear adopted daughter… I picked you up when you were three. When you had a fever as a child, I held you all night without letting go.”
“I raised you for over ten years—no less than my real daughter. Yet you not only tried to kill me, you wanted to kill Qingqing as well?”
Su Qianyi laughed wildly. “Hahaha! If you saw me as a real daughter, then why did you never want me to be chief? I’m better than her in everything—so why?”
The high priest saw the fake-death drug’s effects had worn off. Feeling no pity for someone who brought such chaos, he urged loudly, “Chief, you must not be merciful with this one!”
But Su Qianyi still didn’t understand the severity of the situation.
She shouted toward the sky, “Immortal! Immortal! Come save me!”
Everyone thought she had gone mad.
Only Li Qingqing remembered that Qi Shen had shouted similarly to summon Xing Qi.
Her vigilance rose. She scanned the surroundings—but Xing Qi never appeared.
Perhaps she had changed shells again? Thinking of that, Qingqing grew even more uneasy.
Minutes passed. Xing Qi still did not show.
Su Qianyi froze completely, mumbling, “Impossible… How could she not come…”
Li Yue’s heart softened. “Throw Su Qianyi into the Bottomless Abyss.”
The Bottomless Abyss was where the Silver Tiger Tribe imprisoned the worst criminals.
It was a deep, dark pit filled with insects, poisonous scorpions, and centipedes.
Those who went in would at best lose a layer of skin, at worst—never come out alive.
Su Qianyi finally panicked. “No! Godmother, I was wrong!”
She knelt and clung tightly to Li Yue’s leg.
But it was too late. Two beastmen dragged her away.
Her cries made the people who had supported her moments before feel uneasy.
“Where do you two think you’re going?”
Bai Yuan and Xiao Ziye blocked Zisu and A-Qi’s escape.
“Chief, I was just temporarily blinded!” Zisu trembled, kneeling.
Ling Xiaotuan spat, “Pah! My sister-in-law even saved your life, and you dared try to harm her!”
A-Qi stood dazed and resigned, awaiting punishment.
Li Yue rubbed her throbbing temples. These two had followed her for years—she thought they were loyal. She hadn’t expected them to be a hidden threat.
“Break their legs and throw them out of the tribe. Let fate decide their end.”
Immediately, people moved to drag the two away.
Chi Lin watched. Many of those assisting were the same who had loudly condemned Li Qingqing earlier. He found it laughable. People like them deserved to be thrown out too.
Suddenly he remembered Li Yue was alive—but his uncle had already bitten his tongue and died.
Li Qingqing thought of Chi Chenyan as well. “Mother, you’re alive, then my father—!”
She rushed over anxiously. Chi Chenyan showed no signs of waking.
Li Yue scolded lightly, “You only think of your father, you silly girl. Alright, Chi Chenyan, stop pretending.”
Her words barely fell when Chi Chenyan’s eyes snapped open and he grinned. “I had to make the act believable, didn’t I?”
Li Qingqing pouted, tears welling up. “You scared me to death—both of you! Why didn’t you tell me?”
Li Yue laughed. “You’re already so grown and still cry. Aren’t you embarrassed?”
Chi Chenyan agreed, “You’re going to be the chief, and crying will scare away your authority.”
Li Qingqing instantly stopped crying. Her mother was alive—yet they still wanted her to be chief?
“You still want me to be chief?”
