Chapter 12
Gasp.
Soeun’s face flared red at Hyunjun’s blunt words.
“—Why are you asking that?”
“Um… I just… got flustered.”
“—Flustered? What do you mean by that? You don’t like it?”
“N-no… Actually, I was really surprised when I woke up wearing only my underwear.”
Her voice was barely a whisper.
“—Don’t like it? My wife was asleep drunk, feeling hot, so I undressed her clothes. You’re saying you hated that?”
Wait—did I say something wrong? He didn’t seem to consider that she might have been hot. Soeun’s hand trembled slightly as she held her phone.
“—Are you saying you’re refusing to get close to me?”
“……”
She felt like a student being scolded by a professor.
“—Even if you don’t like it, do you have to make it so obvious? Just like yesterday at my parents’ house.”
Soeun lowered her head little by little.
“—I was asleep drunk and didn’t sleep properly yesterday, so I’m not in a good mood.”
“……?”
Soeun’s head snapped up, thinking she must have misheard him.
“……Yes?”
“—I’m not a saint. It’s absurd to just sleep normally while my wife, whom I haven’t seen in three years, is lying next to me.”
“Ah……”
“—She was asleep drunk, so I couldn’t wake her. And she said she was hot, so I had to take off her clothes. You think it’s easy to endure that all night?”
Soeun was at a loss for words, completely dumbfounded. Her ears and face burned red.
She just couldn’t get used to his direct way of speaking.
Faint memories came back—last night, even as she slept drunk, his hands had been gently pulling her into his embrace.
Whenever she turned away, he would adjust her so she faced him again.
Hands that had softly held her neck and back of her head all night.
She had fallen asleep resting against that warm body for the first time in a long while, and she unconsciously snuggled close.
She remembered that his palms felt bare against her skin—no fabric in between.
He must have taken off his shirt.
‘I slept so comfortably in his arms… Does that mean he struggled to control himself all night because of me?’
Embarrassing…
“—Why did you drink so much wine yesterday that you couldn’t even handle it?”
“Ah… I felt like I wouldn’t have been able to sit through that event without drinking.”
“—Was it really that difficult for you? You’ll have to get used to it. You can’t avoid it even if you don’t like it.”
“I-It’s not that I disliked it……”
“—You even slurred your words in between because you were drunk. If I’d known you couldn’t handle alcohol, I would’ve made you drink less.”
“That’s true… I just got flustered and kept drinking.”
“—Now that I know my wife isn’t good with alcohol, I’ll have to take care of you next time.”
As Soeun quietly answered his words over the phone…
Beep beep beep—
Bang.
From afar came the sound of the front door opening.
Soeun, sitting on the bed in only her underwear while on the phone with Hyunjun, jumped in shock, her heart sinking.
“Gasp… W-who is it?”
Shhh… shhh… shhh.
The sound of slippers dragged across the floor, approaching from the entrance to the bedroom. Hyunjun appeared.
“Ahh!!”
Seeing him, Soeun yanked the blanket over herself.
“You were on the phone in bed?”
“Y-you can’t just come in like that!”
“Well, it’s my house. Do I need permission to enter?”
Peeking out slightly from under the blanket, she saw him in a sweat-soaked workout outfit.
She had wondered where he went—it seemed he’d gotten up early and gone to the gym.
“You went to work out?”
“Yes. An hour every day. If I skip it, my body feels stiff. It’s an old habit.”
So that’s how he maintains such a perfect, toned body.
Even though he had just returned to Korea yesterday and must still be adjusting to the time difference, his diligence in waking up early to exercise left her speechless.
“Um…”
Soeun gestured at the bathrobe draped over the bedroom chair.
“Want me to bring it?”
“Yes.”
His sharp gaze fell on her hands clutching the blanket over her chest.
Her slender shoulders, soft dark brown hair flowing down, long white neck blushing with embarrassment.
A pure face with no makeup, long eyelashes lowered, and hints of her chest and waistline showing as she hurriedly put on the robe.
Hyunjun’s eyes darkened as he took in her flustered movements.
Once she had roughly put on the white robe and tied the belt, he slid in beside her.
He reached out, taking the robe’s knot in his hands, retieing it neatly into a bow.
His face was close, his delicate long fingers near her body.
Just a slight lean and their faces would touch.
Soeun bit her lower lip in embarrassment, and Hyunjun’s languid voice murmured:
“Tonight, I won’t hold back.”
“……!”
“You’re my wife, aren’t you?”
His pupils rippled like a deep black lake.
“Yes… No.”
Forcing her answer, he shifted his hands to wrap around her waist.
Her small frame trembled lightly in his embrace.
His gaze darkened, the angle of his jaw tilting.
‘Gasp.’
Soeun’s heart raced.
“W-why are you so close…?”
Hyunjun leaned in as if to kiss her, leaving her unsure where to look.
When he gently took off her glasses, her heart felt ready to burst.
“Open your lips.”
He tilted his face slightly to the side.
Their noses brushed.
Soeun closed her eyes tightly, her heart pounding.
His lips pressed softly against hers.
Her lips, like soft sponge, yielded; she exhaled in a trembling breath.
“Ha—.”
He turned his face to the other side, taking her lips again, intensely.
His hot hands gripped her shoulders tightly.
Even just the touch sent shivers throughout her body.
Her blood seemed to rush faster than ever.
Hyunjun parted his lips slightly, biting her lips like savoring ice cream, sweetly.
Soeun’s heart thudded wildly at the sudden sensation.
Then, his hand touched her thigh.
He lifted her robe, his large palm slowly sliding up her leg.
At the same time, sweet kisses above, and passionate touches below.
Soeun couldn’t think straight; her head was spinning.
‘Should I stop him now?’
His hand stroked higher on her inner thigh, and she started wondering if she should stop him.
They had shared countless nights on their honeymoon, but that had been three years ago. Now, everything felt like a reset, and their relationship was still awkward.
Yet her heart pounded so violently she didn’t know what to do.
Rrrrr- Rrrrr- Rrrrr- Rrrrr-
The ringing of the phone broke the heated atmosphere.
Their lips parted, the trail of saliva between them snapping as Soeun’s gaze landed on the phone.
