Chapter 17
After Kartian left, Lia slumped back into the chair.
What had already happened could not be undone, so she hoped Kartian would regain his memories as soon as possible, even if it was just one day sooner. She wanted him to return to his former self. If that happened, she would no longer have to worry about him. After that, all she had to do was find a way to leave this place and go back, and everything would be over.
Before she was shaken by him—before she allowed even a small fragment of a relationship with him—she desperately wished things would turn out that way.
Of course, even if she did end up wavering, Lia was confident she could cut it off without mercy. It would not be easy. Being cold did not mean she would not be hurt or feel pain.
But for both of them, that would be the better choice. From the beginning, cutting off lingering attachment was something Lia was used to. It was something she had always done.
