Chapter – 50
The Hunt
After being married to them for so long, the original owner still hadn’t managed to sleep with even one of them.
That alone showed that none of the five were easy targets.
Sleep with Ling Mo? He had two little brats glued to his side at all times—definitely not child-appropriate.
Sleep with Xiao Ziye? He’d probably beat her to death.
Sleep with Chi Lin? He likely wouldn’t agree.
Sleep with Feng Hao? His sister had just been laid to rest—this really wasn’t appropriate.
Sleep with Bai Yuan? He was too young; she really couldn’t bring herself to do it.
【Stop agonizing. Just sleep with all of them.】
Hearing that, Li Qingqing’s vision went black on the spot. What did that even mean? Five against one? Did they really think she, Li Qingqing, was a punching bag?
She wrestled with the question all night and still couldn’t reach any conclusion.
The next day.
The first of the month arrived again—the day when the males of the tribe went out hunting.
Each time, only one female was allowed to accompany the hunting party. In the past, that spot always went to Su Qianyi.
But this time, Li Qingqing was personally selected.
While everyone was preparing to depart, Su Qianyi’s eyes were practically glued to Li Qingqing, as if she wanted to swallow her whole.
Yet with Li Yue standing nearby, she still had to put on a magnanimous front.
“Little sister Qingqing, the Xuanming Forest is full of ferocious beasts. It’s your first time going—be careful~”
The fact that Li Qingqing had already been to the Xuanming Forest had long since been spread throughout the tribe by certain people, yet Su Qianyi still pretended otherwise, deliberately mocking her “first time.”
Her hypocrisy was truly nauseating.
Li Qingqing couldn’t understand it—after everything that had happened lately, how could Li Yue still not see what kind of person Su Qianyi was? How could she still feel at ease keeping her by her side?
Li Yue stepped forward and took Li Qingqing’s hand, her tone unusually gentle.
“I know you’ve been there before, so I won’t say empty pleasantries. Still, you must be careful—the Xuanming Forest is dangerous.”
She then called over Xiao Ziye.
“Ziye, you grew up together. I trust you. Qingqing has a hot temper—during this hunt, you need to look after her more.”
Xiao Ziye crossed his arms and turned his head away.
“She’s from the Hundred Beasts Divine Cult. Since when does she need me to manage her?”
“You—”
As expected, nothing good ever came out of that snake’s mouth.
Nearby, Ling Mo was carefully instructing Ling Xiaotuan and Ling Xiaoyu.
“Don’t go near the river.”
“Got it.”
“Don’t cause me trouble.”
“Got it, got it!”
The two little ones nodded obediently, though they had already planned exactly how wildly they would play while their brother was gone.
“Hey, I say, isn’t it a bit slow for someone going on their first hunt?” Xiao Ya suddenly shouted loudly.
Though he didn’t name anyone, everyone knew who he meant.
Li Qingqing shot him a white-eyed glare.
“Some people are ugly and have no manners. No wonder no female wants you.”
That single sentence hit Xiao Ya right where it hurt, leaving him speechless.
“You—”
“You what?”
She was just about to continue arguing when Bai Yuan suddenly walked over and scooped her up onto his back with his mouth.
Xiao Ziye frowned.
“The chief said she’s to follow me. Didn’t you hear?”
Bai Yuan ignored him completely and ran straight toward the front.
Chi Lin and Ling Mo hurried to chase after him.
Bai Yuan had been the lead hunter for the past two years. Seeing that he had already set off, everyone else quickly followed.
He ran extremely fast. Li Qingqing had ridden Feng Hao before—among the wolf clans, few could match their speed—but Bai Yuan didn’t lose out at all.
Ling Mo caught up and ran alongside him.
“With Feng Hao gone, you’re the fastest now.”
Bai Yuan glanced back and realized he had already left the others far behind.
He gradually slowed down. Li Qingqing looked back and saw a massive black snake closing in behind them.
Although she had already seen Xiao Ziye’s beast form before, she was still startled this time.
Good thing she hadn’t ridden on him earlier—she might’ve been scared to death.
When they arrived at the Xuanming Forest, many tribes had already gotten there first.
They gathered in small groups, discussing the hunting routes they would take once inside.
As Li Qingqing jumped down from Bai Yuan’s back, she felt many eyes fixed on her. For many of them, this was the first time they had seen her.
In the past, the female from the Silver Tiger Tribe who came along was always Su Qianyi—and she wasn’t nearly this good-looking.
Being stared at made Li Qingqing uncomfortable, so she began observing them in return.
The Wolf Tribe hadn’t come today. On the way, Li Qingqing had even wondered what she would do if she ran into them so soon—how she’d face another transmigrator. But unexpectedly, they didn’t show up.
The Red Fox Tribe, however, had come in large numbers. Chi Xiaoxi spotted Li Qingqing first and immediately ran over.
“Li Qingqing!” she called excitedly, then noticed Bai Yuan beside her.
“Why is this little brat following you everywhere?”
Li Qingqing scratched her cheek awkwardly. In truth, it was she who was following him.
When she noticed Chi Lin behind Chi Xiaoxi, she froze slightly.
Chi Xiaoxi and Chi Lin didn’t have a particularly good relationship. When they were young, she often bullied him.
But after their mother passed away, her attitude toward Chi Lin had changed somewhat.
The problem was—he still didn’t know their mother was gone.
Chi Xiaoxi awkwardly greeted him, “Brother…”
Chi Lin was also somewhat dazed. He had never been close to this sister. In the past, even when they met during hunts, they treated each other like strangers.
He didn’t know what was different this time—she had actually greeted him.
At a loss, he simply responded softly, “Mm.”
Li Qingqing naturally knew the truth. She felt sorry that Chi Lin still didn’t know, yet she didn’t know how to bring it up either.
She comforted herself by thinking that perhaps, since Chi Lin didn’t have a good relationship with Chi Nuoyu, he might not care much about her death.
Even if he did find out she had died, maybe it wouldn’t hurt him too badly.
But blood ties were unpredictable—this was exactly why Li Qingqing had never told Chi Lin.
Xiao Ziye had been unusually quiet since arriving.
Li Qingqing noticed his eyes were fixed on one direction—the White Snake Tribe.
Ling Mo walked over and sighed.
“I didn’t expect the White Snake Tribe to come today. I haven’t seen them in ages. Looks like Xiao Ziye’s going to get sentimental again.”
Li Qingqing suddenly recalled a rumor—supposedly, Xiao Ziye was a snake cub abandoned by the White Snake Tribe.
When Li Yue first picked him up, she had gone to negotiate with them, but no one in the White Snake Tribe admitted it.
That was understandable. The entire White Snake Tribe consisted of white snakes—where would a black snake come from? In fact, in the entire beast world, Xiao Ziye was the only black snake.
Still, Li Qingqing suspected it might have been a genetic mutation.
The people of the White Snake Tribe noticed Xiao Ziye staring at them.
They lifted their chins arrogantly and sneered,
“Who knows where this wild brat came from. Every few days he fantasizes about being from our tribe.”
