Chapter 27
A short while later, a familiar face—one she had seen briefly before—appeared.
It was a middle-aged woman with voluminous platinum-blond hair elegantly pinned up.
“I pay my respects to Your Highness.”
“Madam Lang, it’s been a while.”
Lang was the owner of the hottest boutique in the capital.
She wore a dress that fell naturally from the waist and fit snugly, revealing her ankles—another recent trend.
Not long ago, floor-dragging gowns had swept through the capital instead.
The key was to pair a simple dress with bold, glamorous accessories.
True to her reputation as a trendsetter, Madam Lang had come wearing large, glittering earrings.
“Madam, you look wonderful as always.”
Though the royal household had its own tailors, there was no rule forbidding outside garments.
Anna insisted that since Sienna was taking her first step into high society, she had to wear Madam Lang’s designs.
This was the best of the best.
Sienna straightened her back and welcomed her with effort.
Let’s choose quickly and go back to sleep.
But the procession of dresses seemed endless.
“Madam?”
Sienna’s eyes widened. She had expected perhaps three or four extra dresses, knowing her tastes weren’t particularly picky.
“What… are all of these?”
“They were requested by Madam Miller.”
“Anna?”
Startled, Sienna whipped around to look at Anna.
“I thought it’d be best if Your Highness chose the final dress yourself. And this would be a good opportunity to purchase a few more.”
“Anna…”
It seemed she had worried those around her more than she realized.
“You’re not supposed to go shopping when you’re depressed…”
She knew herself well.
Most likely, her spending impulse would descend in full force today.
“All right. Let’s take a look.”
Sienna jumped up from the bed and began examining the countless dresses hanging before her, one by one.
“Oh my. Look at this color.”
“And this lace detailing—it’s absolutely magical!”
She even tried on several of them.
Amazingly, they fit perfectly, despite not being tailored.
“I also brought a few unreleased new designs just for you, Your Highness.”
Smiling at that, Sienna continued looking—then her hand suddenly stopped.
“This one…”
It was a pure white dress with a large butterfly collar, ribbons, and adorable pearls decorating the front.
Yellow flower embroidery adorned the hem.
“It looks just like a forest fairy.”
“Oh my!”
Moved by Sienna’s impression, Madam Lang covered her mouth in delight.
“That dress is actually called Forest Fairy.”
“Really?”
“Yes. I designed it after being inspired during a picnic in the forest. It’s an honor that you recognized it right away.”
“I like this one.”
“Pardon? It would certainly suit you, Your Highness, but isn’t it a bit too modest for a debutante ball?”
“It’s fine.”
Her heart had already decided.
Once she made up her mind, it rarely changed.
—Shushu likes that one too.
With the nonstop chatter beside her, she ended up ordering clothes and accessories for Shushu as well.
Madam Lang, though she had never made doll clothes before, enthusiastically vowed to take on the challenge.
—Mistress, the ring third from the left over there.
“Got it.”
—And the necklace all the way on the right, too.
“Alright.”
—And also…
“Also?”
Just whose familiar spirit was this, with such endless demands?
What kind of rabbit—no, spirit—had such overwhelming material desires?
Sienna glared at Shushu, who sat there pretending to be innocent, as if she knew nothing at all.
Hmm…
But imagining Shushu dressed up and carrying a tiny bag did sound rather cute.
Fine. Let’s spend money like water for once.
At last, her shopping instincts fully ignited.
After choosing several outfits for outings, along with matching accessories and shoes, hours flew by.
Once shopping was complete, the three of them gathered around a table to enjoy afternoon tea.
Lang’s eye was impeccable, and her taste aligned perfectly with Sienna’s.
“Madam.”
“Yes, Your Highness?”
“Could you recommend some decorative shops? Oh—and jewelers, as well as promising painters.”
“There are a few places and people that come to mind.”
“Then I’ll leave that to you.”
After Madam Lang departed, Sienna crawled back into bed.
And clutching Shushu tightly, she soon fell into a deep sleep.
