Chapter 135
“Should we have gone too?”
“The witch will handle it just fine.”
Silvia and Chris, left alone in the classroom, anxiously waited for Selina, who had just left.
When Selina returned to the classroom after stepping away briefly, she told them about the tense confrontation between Theodor and Silvester.
‘It really seemed like they were about to fight.’
‘What if both of them get seriously hurt…?’
Selina, deep in thought, hurriedly set out to find the two, leaving Luna behind.
About ten minutes passed since she left, and as time went on, their anxiety only grew. Initially, Chris had tried to reassure himself that everything would be fine, but now he nervously bit his lip, unable to stay still.
“This isn’t good. We should go look for them too.”
“Good idea.”
Silvia immediately got up and headed out with Chris. They followed the direction Silvester and Theodor had gone, accompanied by Nox and Luna, when a familiar face appeared in the distance.
“Big brother!”
“Silvia?”
Silvester, who had a dark expression, looked up when he heard Silvia’s voice. Seeing the two pale faces, he looked puzzled.
“Is everything okay?”
“Just try touching Theodor even a finger, and I won’t let it slide.”
“Wait, Chris. Calm down. Big brother, what did you talk about with Theodor?”
Silvia carefully asked Silvester, trying to calm the overly excited Chris.
Silvester recalled what had happened with Theodor. Although there had been the fistfight Chris worried about, their conversation contained things that could not be shared with anyone.
“We didn’t really talk about anything important. So, no need to worry.”
“Uh… okay…?”
Silvia was momentarily startled by Silvester’s gesture of brushing his hair, which seemed strangely mature despite being a familiar smile. He seemed more grown-up somehow.
While Silvia observed Silvester’s change, Chris glared at him.
“That’s true, right?”
Chris remembered Theodor’s left cheek, which had swelled from the fight, but Silvester pretended not to notice.
“Sure. You can ask him about it later.”
“Hmm…”
Seeing Silvester confidently respond, Chris finally eased his suspicion.
Meow! Meow meow!
[Where’s Selina? Why are you the only one here?]
[Are they perhaps together somewhere?]
Except for Silvia, no one could understand what the two cats were saying.
“Looks like Luna is looking for Selina.”
“If it’s Selina, she’s probably with Theodor.”
“This is worrying in its own way… it’s trouble after trouble. I wonder if the two might even split up.”
Initially worried that Silvester and Theodor might fight, now Chris feared that Theodor and Selina might break up. After all, the past few days had been so awkward between them that it wouldn’t have been surprising if they parted ways.
Hearing Silvia mutter this, Chris frowned. He knew Theodor would never say he wanted to break up with Selina. If they did split, it would almost certainly be Selina’s decision. If they stayed together, it would be fine, but if not, it would create a lot of awkwardness—same class, same team, same club—all overlapping their lives, and not only for them but for others too.
Thinking of Mie, Chris frowned and sighed.
“They’ll handle it on their own.”
“What’s gotten into you? I thought you’d say, ‘If they break up, the witch will never forgive him!’”
Chris narrowed his eyes at Silvia, who was mimicking him, looking displeased.
“Well… they know each other well. And it’s not like I can interfere in their business. Even if we told them not to break up, it wouldn’t necessarily happen.”
“True.”
“Let’s just wait a little.”
The three of them decided to stay in the classroom, waiting for Theodor and Selina. The last exam of the day had finished, leaving free time before club activities.
“Shouldn’t we start preparing for our assignment? Researching and organizing will take a while.”
“Hmm, about two weeks left. We should get started soon.”
The group assignment from the last theology class was on saints and holy figures.
“Should we split the parts and work individually, or research together and compile?”
“Since it’s a common topic, there’s a lot of information. It’d be hard for a few people to handle, so it’s better to research together.”
“Chris, you were already a trainee priest before joining the academy. Do you know anything about saints and holy figures?”
Chris crossed his arms and thought carefully.
“Saints and holy figures… everyone knows of them, but in reality, they are rare.”
“Rare?”
“Yes. Maybe one appears in a generation. They don’t exist in every temple—some temples might not see one for over 200 years.”
“Huh… I see.”
“It’s funny that someone like you, the next saint, asks me this. Aren’t you the Moon Saint herself?”
Silvia remained silent at Chris’ chuckle.
“I’m… not a saint yet. I haven’t officially awakened. The temple hasn’t announced it.”
“Oh, true. Officially, it hasn’t been announced.”
Unlike Chris, who casually nodded, Silvia averted her eyes, feeling uncomfortable.
Luna and Nox looked at Silvia. The two cats locked eyes. As soon as Nox met Luna’s gaze, she frowned, and Nox smirked.
Wheooong-
Luna made an irritated sound, ears back, ready to fight. Chris and Silvia quickly separated the cats.
“They always fight when they make eye contact.”
“Why today? We didn’t say anything.”
[Nox, why are you so stubbornly angry?]
[How dare you speak to me like that?]
[What did I do? Is this because of him? If you acted sooner, your precious one wouldn’t have ended up like this.]
Nox provoked Luna, and she reacted instantly, her eyes mixing blue with tiny white sparks. Feeling the tension, the children quickly picked up the cats, though their standoff continued.
[Luna is dead to me. Didn’t you want to teach me a lesson? Why are you…]
“Nox! Quiet! Can’t you behave? Why are you always trying to bother Luna?”
Silvia intervened, stopping Nox from provoking Luna. He sulked and rested on her.
“Sorry, Luna. Nox was mean. I’ll apologize properly…”
Luna glared sharply, avoiding Silvia’s hand. Realizing Luna was genuinely angry, Silvia stepped back holding Nox. Chris noticed Luna’s unusual behavior today as well.
“The witch, why isn’t she coming? Doesn’t she know her familiar is angry?”
“She should be coming soon…”
Silvester checked the time and muttered. By now, the two should have reconciled or made a decision. That they hadn’t arrived yet meant…
“Maybe they went to the clubroom first.”
Silvia and Chris nodded.
“Then shall we move too?”
“Let’s leave a note just in case.”
Silvia left a note on Selina and Theodor’s seats saying they were heading to the clubroom and gathered their things. Still keeping Nox and Luna apart, the group headed to the clubroom.
Rustle-
Selina’s fingers ran through soft black hair. As expected, she had come to the clubroom with Theodor.
After their first kiss, Theodor, who had been emotionally strained, began crying again, and Selina comforted him until he calmed down. He now slept on her lap, his steady breathing showing he hadn’t slept well recently.
“Theodor, you fool.”
Had she expressed her anxiety even once, she would have reassured him, no matter how embarrassed.
‘No… maybe I shouldn’t say that. I was the one who ran away.’
Selina gently wiped the redness around Theodor’s eyes. He had always internalized his struggles, trying to bear everything alone. Even when they first met, he couldn’t openly express dislike and tried to meet others’ expectations.
She reflected on past events where he blamed himself for incidents and went five years without contact.
‘I’ll have to read him carefully.’
Selina playfully pinched his nose. He frowned but still looked handsome. She quietly admired his face while he slept.
Creak-
Hearing a faint sound, Selina looked up.
“Ah, they’re here after all.”
“Good thing we brought our stuff.”
The door opened, and Silvia, Silvester, and Chris entered. They immediately noticed Theodor sleeping on Selina’s lap and lowered their voices.
Silvester frowned.
“Have you reconciled with Theodor?”
Selina nodded to Silvia’s quiet question. Silvia and Chris brightened, but Silvester remained stiff.
Their eyes met, Selina’s gaze gradually darkening.
“Silvester.”
“…Yes?”
“Do that again, and I won’t let it slide.”
Her tone was calm but full of anger. Silvia and Chris, unaware of what happened between them, looked on cautiously.
Silvester’s expression shifted from wounded to blank. Selina sighed after glaring at him briefly.
“I heard from Theodor. I don’t know the details, but he admitted he was at fault. He’s grateful to you.”
Silvester bit his lip and clenched his fists.
“Is that so?”
“If Theodor is okay, what else can I say?”
“Wait, admitted he was wrong? What do you mean?”
Chris interrupted, breaking the serious mood. Noticing a bruise on Theodor’s left cheek, he exclaimed sharply.
“Could it be that you…”
Seeing Chris tense, Silvester took a step forward.
“I told you not to touch Theodor!”
Bang!
The clubroom erupted. Chris lunged at Silvester, waking Theodor, who startled and sat up.
“What’s going on?”
“…I have to treat you right.”
“Huh?”
“If Chris knows you cried because of me, he won’t forgive me either.”
Theodor, half-asleep, didn’t understand Selina’s words and could only watch the chase between Chris and Silvester.
