Kanzaki Wonders About My Type
I didn’t understand why Kanzaki was asking such things with such sharp eyes.
Even if Yuiduka had said those things to me, it shouldn’t have been Kanzaki’s concern.
“……”
No, that wasn’t it. Kanzaki wasn’t asking because she wanted to know the specific details of Yuiduka wanting to do “that” with me—she was concerned that I was keeping something from her.
As a friend, Kanzaki had said she would help me somehow resolve the situation with Yuiduka wanting to marry me, yet I was hiding things from her. That would betray her kindness as a friend.
…In that case, there’s no reason to hide anything.
“Sorry… I didn’t talk about it because I thought it wasn’t relevant, but actually, I’ve already heard that Yuiduka is okay with doing that kind of thing with me.”
“…! I see…”
Kanzaki widened her eyes and let out a sigh.
“…First, you said you didn’t mention it because you thought it wasn’t related, but whether you’d be willing to allow that kind of thing is very important information for resolving this situation in the future. So from now on, don’t decide on your own whether it’s relevant. If there’s anything that could show Yuiduka’s thoughts or how much she likes you, tell me everything without hiding anything.”
“Understood.”
When I answered honestly, Kanzaki looked away for a moment, then met my eyes again and said:
“There’s one more thing… Do you want to do that kind of thing with Yuiduka?”
“…Huh!? Of course not! Sure, Yuiduka’s appearance is my type, but I could never want to do that with my little sister—”
“Your type…?”
—Ah, damn.
I had panicked and said something unnecessary when asked something I didn’t quite understand.
Kanzaki, however, pressed on with her question.
“Is Yuiduka your type?”
At that question, I considered hiding the truth on the spot. But I had just promised to tell her everything without hiding anything. From now on, I wanted to hide as little as possible, so I decided to be honest.
“Yes… But it’s only her appearance that’s my type. I really do think of her as my sister, and I haven’t felt anything weird—please believe me on that.”
I looked Kanzaki straight in the eyes as I said this, and she sighed more heavily than before.
“To be honest, the fact that your little sister’s appearance is your type was a bit off-putting at first, but it’s true that you really think of her as your sister, huh?”
“Yeah… But the tricky part is that she’s my stepsister. I, of course, treat her properly as a sister and intend to continue doing so, but she isn’t my real sister. She’s a stepsister—and yet she wants to marry me.”
“If her appearance is your type and, conveniently, she’s a stepsister, you might almost be tempted, huh?”
“That would never happen, but it’s terrifying… And it’s not just her appearance—her personality is great too. If she didn’t want to marry me, she’d just be a bright, kind, fun-to-be-with sister.”
“That really is… troublesome, huh.”
Kanzaki seemed to ponder for a moment before speaking again.
“Hey, do you have any photos of Yuiduka?”
“…Photos of Yuiduka?”
“Yeah.”
“Why do you want to see a photo of her?”
“Because she’s your type, right? I’m curious what kind of girl your type is, purely out of interest.”
“Th-There’s no way I’m showing them for that reason!”
If I did, she’d definitely laugh and say something like, “Oh, so this is your type.”
“Come on.”
“No way.”
I couldn’t just show Yuiduka’s photos… but then I thought:
“If you really want to see them, then tell me your type too.”
“Huh… my type?”
“Yes.”
That would make it a fair exchange—at least that’s what I thought. But for some reason, Kanzaki suddenly looked at me, blushed, stood up, and spoke in a slightly high-pitched voice:
“S-Sorry, homeroom is about to start, so let’s forget this conversation!”
Saying that, she returned to her seat.
…I didn’t understand why she had panicked like that, but since she told me to forget, I decided to just let it go for now.
