Chapter 89
“Now, shall we wrap up this request?”
The Master clapped her hands lightly and looked at Lucy and Shan.
“Today, as a special service, I’ll personally escort you all to the residence of Count Sinom! Since it’s a service, there’s no extra charge!”
At the Master’s words, Lucy glanced around, wondering if there was a carriage nearby.
“Come closer, please. From now on, I’ll take you straight to the Count’s residence. If you stray too far from me, you might get trapped in some random dimension forever, so stay right by my side.”
The Master said this terrifyingly casually, smiling as if it were nothing.
Without knowing why, Lucy obediently stepped close to her.
The Master gently pulled Shan toward her and snapped her fingers.
In an instant, Lucy’s vision shifted. Right before her eyes was the entrance to Count Sinom’s mansion.
“How did you do that? Aleksa, I see now—you really are a magician! Magic is always amazing to see.”
Lucy’s eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the Master.
“That’s why I can travel easily without coordinates.”
“Truly incredible!”
At Lucy’s repeated compliments, the Master smugly lifted her chin.
“Looks like some fun is going on inside. Let’s go take a look.”
The Master pointed toward the mansion. Indeed, loud shouts and screams echoed from the entrance where they stood.
Lucy nodded and headed toward the source of the noise with the Master. Shan followed behind, keeping alert in the chaotic atmosphere.
“Well, there must be some mistake!”
“The only mistake is in your head! This document doesn’t lie. Your seal is clearly on it—if you have eyes, look properly!”
Midway down the hallway leading to the reception room, a rough-looking man waved a document in front of Count Sinom.
The Count knelt before him, looking up. It seemed the burly men around had forced him to his knees.
“I’ve told you countless times—I never signed such a document! Do you think you’ll get away with this?”
Count Sinom shouted, but a kick sent him sprawling to the floor.
“Shut up and pack your things! If you don’t leave today, we’ll have no choice but to drag you out.”
“This is my house! Who do you think you are telling me where to go?”
From the conversation, it seemed Count Sinom had only just realized that his mansion had been sold to someone else.
“We’re a bit late. We should have come a little sooner.”
The Master clicked her tongue with mock regret.
“No, it’s fine. At least we haven’t missed the entertaining part!”
Lucy, watching the Count from afar, smiled with satisfaction.
“I don’t want to just let him go, so I’ll step in for a moment. I brought something with me.”
Lucy asked the Master for a brief moment, then took a document from her chest.
She gestured to Shan to follow her.
Taking a deep breath, Lucy slowly approached Count Sinom.
“So the rumors about the great Baton Sinom going bankrupt were true.”
At Lucy’s voice, the men surrounding the Count stepped aside, letting her pass.
Click, click.
Count Sinom narrowed his eyes to get a better look at the woman approaching him.
“Madam Sinom, I’ve come because the payments for the items you purchased from our store haven’t been made yet…”
Lucy widened her eyes dramatically, covering her mouth with one hand.
“At this rate, it seems I might end up giving charity instead of collecting payment.”
She clicked her tongue in mock pity.
“Who do you think you are, daring to… wait, you are…!”
Count Sinom glared at Lucy, then recognized her and widened his eyes.
“Long time no see, Count Sinom. I sent the invoices multiple times, but since I got no reply, I decided to visit in person…”
Busy, huh? Lucy muttered to herself with a smile.
“How dare you… And invoices? What payments are you talking about? Do you know how much damage I’ve suffered because of you!”
Count Sinom rose as if to attack Lucy, but Shan kicked him in the abdomen.
“Watch your words!”
“Ugh…”
“By the way, I haven’t formally introduced myself. Allow me: I’m Lucy Raeford, the manager of Pablo Department Store, which your wife recently frequented. Understand a little better now?”
Lucy tossed the invoice in front of Count Sinom.
“What… Pablo Department Store?”
Count Sinom, incredulous, hastily picked up the invoice and began reading.
“So you’ve become a mistress in some wealthy noble house… ugh!”
“I told you to watch your words.”
The Count, attempting to mock Lucy as he read the invoice, fell again from Shan’s kick.
“You shouldn’t still think you’re the richest man in Tyren, Baton Sinom. Haven’t you heard? The wealthiest in the north has recently changed.”
Lucy slowly approached the fallen Count.
“I couldn’t help but overhear your little conversation with the people already here. Looks like you’re getting kicked out of this mansion too. Want some help?”
Lucy spoke kindly to the Count, who groaned on the floor, but he only glared and gritted his teeth.
“How dare you!”
“If you had reflected on what you did to me and asked for forgiveness, I might have been merciful. But you don’t seem inclined to do that.”
“Forgiveness? You brought a man into my house, set it on fire, and ran away! I deserve your apology and compensation, not forgiveness!”
Lucy sighed deeply at the Count’s words.
“Your delusion that you’re the victim is revolting. The time I spent considering helping you was wasted. Now my mind has changed, and you’ll pay the full amount without exception. I’m not foolish enough to show mercy to an incompetent debtor.”
Lucy turned her back on him without hesitation.
“Wait! I… I—”
Count Sinom tried to speak, but the men began surrounding him again.
“You… let go of me!”
Behind Lucy, the Count’s shouts and the men’s roars became loud once more.
“As expected, watching a fight is the best entertainment!”
Lucy sat on a bench under a large tree a little away from the main building of Count Sinom’s mansion, watching him being evicted.
“How is the seizure of the Count’s assets going?”
“The cash in the bank has already been fully withdrawn by Sylvia as the proxy, and most of the real estate was sold quickly, so he probably has nowhere to go now,” the Master replied with a cheerful chuckle.
“The remaining businesses, mines, and two hotels in his name will also have to be sold cheaply to cover debts.”
“Then he’ll be left with nothing,” Lucy said, and the Master nodded.
“But how did you think of all this?” the Master asked in wonder.
“Money and information make almost anything possible. And, of course, I had Aleksa with me,” Lucy said with a shrug and a smile.
“Please use our Icarus services often from now on.”
The Master bowed politely to Lucy.
“Of course! But where is Sylvia Lane right now?”
“She would have enjoyed today’s spectacle, but Aiden is still young. I told her to stay somewhere safe until everything is settled.”
“Then all that’s left is to distribute Count Sinom’s remaining assets to the victims.”
“First, I’d like to settle the remaining payments. We need to pay the workers too!”
The Master pointed to the dozens of men gathered at the mansion entrance.
They were members of the Swindle Guild Lucy hastily assembled for this job, along with guild members the Master brought.
“Oh, and you know I added lots of special services, right? Just saying! Haha.”
In short, she was asking for extra payment.
